If I could give zero stars I would. The staff was very sweet however, this review is for my surgery experience.
SURGERY: I was given pain medication less than 20 minutes before going into the surgical room. The surgeon had extremely loud music blaring that put me on edge with all the profanity. I felt everything happening when the procedure started. I felt all the fluid, tumescent being jabbed into me repeatedly. All the fluid was very uncomfortable. I stated multiple times that I could feel the cannula being inserted. I felt stabbing pain and the cunnula being moved under my skin. The surgeon said she was sorry but there was nothing she could do for the pain. She said she'd try to go quickly. She was very aggressive and kept hitting my ribs and hip bones with the vibrating cannula. I'm not sure exactly how long it was because it was quite torturous. I had a extremely hard time holding still because of how hard I was sobbing/crying. The dr covered my face with the surgical paper during surgery and I sobbed until she finished. The nurse lifted the paper to look at me. She asked if I was ok, I just cried. She put the paper back over my face. It was the most pain I have ever felt in my life. I gave birth to twins and had multiple surgeries. I am a veteran. I am tough. NOTHING prepared me for this level of traumatic pain. In the middle of the procedure she took a phone call to a guy named Mike and she ate a sandwich, even though I was told I couldn't wear socks because it wasn't sanitary, but the surgeon touched her phone, and ate apparently that was ok.
She said she couldn't get much fat removed from my lower back and I'd have to "work the rest off". She pointed to all the bloody canisters. There were five. (Even though only 4 were reported in surgical log) She walked out. There was bloody fluid everywhere. Even soaked up my hair that was in a net. My blood pressure dropped to dangerous levels. It took the nurse an hour to get my blood pressure normal and stablized. During this entire time they did not update my husband one time. He was told it would take just a couple hours. He waited for 4 hours in a room without any update. I was completely aware of everything. There was no "medicine magic cocktail" like they described pre-op.
I found out afterwards the reason for a spontaneous drop in blood pressure is from loosing too much blood.
POST OP: Sono Bello doesn't have the same dr working for them, since my surgery. I have less fat on my areas I had done, yes but I am very far from happy with my results. I was told multiple times that the hard layer under my fat tissue that developed directly after the procedure was completely normal and a part of the healing process, but now 9 months post op I'm told it's scar tissue it's permanent and that I should have massaged it more. I was also told they could remove it but I'd need to pay them for an AbX. I have very uneven patches of fat and even trench like indentations. After getting this procedure I get migraines when I bend over and it has effected my powerlifting and gym life substantially. I was told to expect 2-3 days downtime after surgery. I had to take 2 weeks off completely and slowly work my workday back up. It's 9 months and I sitting for any length of time still hurts. My rib area still has shooting pains.
*** I've also seen MULTIPLE AWFUL reviews after my surgery but they have been deleted since.
I had my surgery on December 1,2022 only 1 week after my consultation. I have to say the staff including the Dr were very nice. I had waist, upper & lower abdomen lip, and Abex to remove the excessive skin. I have to say I was awake throughout the whole procedure and about 2 hours later I couldn't bare the cannula going in and out while doing the upper section, good thing at the time was the Dr said we were done anyway. 1st follow-up saw the nurse everything was great. 2nd visit saw the nurse expressed how swollen I was and how I wasn't seeing any weight loss, I was told it takes time and continue to use my faja, don't lift anything over 15 pounds, incision looked great even though I kept complaining that the stitches were poking and hurting me inside. Fine at the 3month follow-up again with a nurse I was told everything looked great, but I couldn't agree with that. I felt I was gaining weight, my belly was swollen and protruding. I expressed I was dissatisfied because I was following all the advice given, I was exercising, and I wanted to see the doctor. I was told I would see her at my next appt in 6 months. Ok when I go to schedule the follow up they agave me an appt in Sept which makes it more like 9 months follow-up when asked I was told it was a re-vision visit and the doctor who did my surgery at the Westcheater office in NY didn't have an opening until then but if their were any cancellations they would call me. How ironic that i have called the office about 5 times trying to get an appt much sooner I want to see the Doctor and I can't but yet I was booked for the procedure within a week post my consultation. I'm being patient and have hope that something can get resolved when I do finally get to see the Doctor, lower abdomen skin removal looks ok. I feel I was still left with a good amount of lower fupa and guven a sad face droopy abdomen. My stomach is so uneven. I know I had a lot of excessive skin but now I'm really disformed. This wasn't a cheap procedure and not everyone has money like that I paid 11k and I'm not saying I was expecting to look like a Barbie but not pay that kind of money and be dissatisfied because I now have the bottom area feeling rock hard and the top part soft and droopy plus the new cannula SCARS I'm left with. I really hope I don't get the run around when I go in September. Please do your homework before having a procedure. I wish I had known.
This is my first time with this type of operation. I went to a free consultation and decided to operate on my upper arms, upper back, and neck/chin. Not even 24 hours after the consultation, I was having second thoughts and after doing more research, I decided to cancel the operation. There is a non-refundable fee of $2495 but, I was willing to pay it to stop the operation even if no surgery had happened and each procedure cost $1745. Yes, each procedure costs less than the non-refundable fee. $2495 for what, you say? The free consultation? The $800 surgical booking fee? Where the does the remaining $1695 go? I have no idea.
Anyway, not 24 hours has passed when I called. I was worried for the possible swelling and so close to when visitors would be coming for a family event. The consult told me that she would contact the nurse and get back to me. Since I was waiting for the call, I did more research on my doctor and found unflattering reviews. I can look over a doctor having a bad day and may snap at a patient (still unprofessional) but they're human. What I can't look over is an arrogant doctor who knows better than the patient on what to do with the patient's own body. Doctors are meant to advise, not criticize and act holier-than-though. After that research, I called once more on the same day to cancel my operation. I didn't care what the nurse said at this point, I don't want the operation. I get in touch with the consult and tell her I want to cancel, but she states to wait till she gets a response from the nurse. The consult says that she would call me back later (on the same day). I never received a call. I understand she's the only consultant in that branch and there are busy days, but I am still a customer. She didn't need to call me back, an email would have been appreciated, but nothing.
The next day, I did not receive a call. I was expecting a call first thing in the morning. Instead, I was the one calling her, yet again. I called at 11:25 am. I wasn't able to reach the consult, but I was able to speak to the assistant. By this time, I was exhausted with my continuous reaching out and nothing being repaired so I asked the assistant to cancel my operation. She tells that she's not permitted to cancel operations and that the consult will call me back on the same day. A call was made again (the assistant picked up) stating that the payment was in dispute at the credit card company. The assistant states that the consult will hopefully return the call. I've been trying to cancel this operation for more than 24 hours and all I get is a hopeful call back?
Further on, I get a call back at 12:49 pm which I miss. I call her back a few minutes later where she finally picks up the phone. I tell her my worries and she tries to dissuade me from my decision. I cave in and say "what if I do just the chin/neck?" She said that should would have to rework the quote and that she would give me a call later even if she has to stay late.
It's nearing the end of the day for the consult so I call her 10 minutes before the closing time. Yet again, I get the assistant who promises me that the consult will return my call probably tomorrow. Since the consult said that she would stay late, I waited for her until the end of dinner to call me back. At that point, I sent her an email stating my cancellation and the breakdown of the non-refundable fee. I signed my name at the end of the email and sent it. More than 30 minutes pass and the consult responds stating that she will talk with her manager and email me tomorrow. Also, she misspelled my name even when I signed my name at the bottom of the email.
Hopefully, I get this resolved tomorrow.
A complimentary bottle of water.
I have worked as a tech in the medical field for 19 yrs including endoscopy and surgery. I have had breast reduction and other surgeries. Never before in my life have I experienced so much pain to the point of my body going in to shock! My B/P was sky high. When then I laid on the bed for the procedure the Dr just started poking me with a needle. I guess to numb where he was going to make the incisions for the liposuction. Next i feel the rode being jammed under my skin and scrapped back and forth. Im told right away you are going to have to hold still and just breath. For the next 4 hours im told that over and over. My face is covered in tears and buggers. I ask multiple times for at least a tissue never once did either of the two assistance in the room check on me. Finally at when the dr had me roll on to my back did he say to the assistance can we giver her something to clean her face. Now on to the next pain. I could feel the whole incision and sutures for the tummy tuck and was told I can't numb the area anymore just hold still and keep breathing. For what they do to you how is 2 percocets. 5 of Xanax a b/p med and two antibiotics going to do anything. I dont and have never had a b/p issue in my life.
Once the procedure qas over the two assistance put a 2xtl compression suit on me way to big and it was full body. So they pull be out of that one all while laying on my back and put a xl still full body suit on me. I get home the dr calls the next day and i told him the suit is huge on me. He says he will pass the message on to have the assistance call me. I hear nothing by the end of the day. So i have to follow up again. When I did get a hold of the only nurse there she asked if I removed the yellow gauze in my belly button. I told her there was nothing in my belly button like i expected and was told was going to be part of my tummy tuck. (First miss charting mistake) It was not till day 4 that I finally got a size large set to me. Once again full body. Mind you these full body suits are for people with average torso. I was blessed with a long torso. So this full body suit did not even come up high enough to cover all the areas of liposuction. I told them going into the procedure that I have a long torso. Once I go the large suit it still did not feel tight enough especially around my tummy tuck area. So o had to go and buy a huge ace wrap and make a belly support my self. Once i did that i notice more fluid drainage. On my 1 week follow up the nurse said to me right of the bat that i was in the wrong compression suit but i was smart to make the stomach support like i did. Also she asked how my thighs where healing. I said we did not do my thighs because he said he could not take anymore off my body in 1 session. (Second chart mistake) then i was told that my tummy tuck area was not looking so good and drainage was stuck and causing all the pressure pain redness and heat i was feeling. She then grab a huge syringe and large 10 gage huge needle and stuck it into my stomach to try and get more fluid out. All because of the wrong compression to start with. Instantly i start crying and explain to hear what happens and how i felt. I told her i have never had an issue with needles but just seeing it i wanted to run out of the room. I said i think i might have some ptsd from this hold experience. It still is hard for me to talk about without crying. Shen then left the room and brought back in a med suit half body that was for long torso. But also and abdominal binder for twice the compression because of what was now happening with my incision area. Shen then walked me out to the feont desk to make my 1 month follow up handed me a survey and said good lucky with your ptsd and smirked. I'm only two weeks out and still in so much pain consently want to sleep and feel like I'm now full of golf balls. I have follow all instructions to a tee. Including lymphatic massage twice daily.
I was also supposed to have my bra rolls done which that did not happen either. I have extra sagging skin now on my back and over my belly button.
There is no way that I can even think about going back to have them touch any part of my body for more surgery! This surgery was done in Scottsdale Arizona. Cost of $15,000.
Danger Danger Danger Stay away!
My story is long and very detailed.
If you don't have time to read; here is the just of the story:
*Get a consultation from a Dr before you put any money down.
*The consultants are done by sales people. They will not be with you. They are trying to make a sale.
*Long wair times for any type of appointment.
*Inconsistent and inaccurate information will be given by nursrs staff and consultants
*NOT worth the money, go somewhere else that will charge less for more work.
*Not honest will give you the runaround
*Possible Contract Drs with other motives
I started my journey with Sono Bello in December of 2020.
My friend and I started together. We both spoke with consultant Kristi. She was very kind, warm, and seem very knowledge. After months of making payments it came time for my surgery. This is where I should have stuck with my gut and walked away. I wanted to know more about the doctor who was performing my surgery so I could research him. I looked through the doctors work. Some work looked good and some was a little questionable. Of course I reached out to her with concerns. She assured me I wouldn't have those issues with me bc because I had soft fat and not Vascular fat which is the bad type of fat. I asked her was she sure. She said yes alll your fat is soft. The day before my surgery I finally met my doctor for my pre-op. He was talking super fast, a little aggressive with some unwelcomed sarcasm which made me super uncomfortable. He told me the exact opposite of what I was told, 8 thousand dollars later. He told me to not have such high expectations my stomach would still poke out and my back rolls. I was so confused, I just spent 6months going through this process. So I called Kristi and told her I didn't want to go through with the surgery. I wanted my money back. She told me I couldn't get my money back. She would speak to the doctor he's just overly confident because he's such a good dr. I trusted her again. I went in for surgery. I could tell something was said to the Dr. The doctor was more patient but seemed a little annoyed. I went through with the surgery. Afterwards no one walked or wheeled me out. I got dressed on my own walked out literally holding on the wall. My husband was waiting for me by the elevator and I went home. I received a call from the dr. Well my voicemail did. Other than that never got a call from the office or staff ( you do not see a dr until your 6mnth post op, I will speak on that as well).
I noticed that my right side was bigger than my left. I asked about it at each of my post ops with the nurses and they all said it would go down, it was just the swelling, or it's empty not sure. By the way all appointments, I would wait for hours. Once I waited three house because I kept getting this sharp scraping feeling by my cut. It took a nurse 3 hrs to come after I stood in the hallway in a gown calling for someone to help. Then I scheduled an appointment to meet with a Dr/ Once I got there it was with a nurse. She asked "why do you need a Dr, I'm going to tell you the same thing a dr would " Long story short! My stomach is still big and now it's oddly shaped! There is more but to say the least save your money and go somewhere else!
I would give it 5/5 except for a few things:
Pro: they worked with me, gave a lot of information to expect, helpful with financing, and provided got youtube videos to go over what I should expect. Overall, got some good information to start with.
Also, the first week I received calls to check on me. And, the customer service is amazing (except for one issue. See Cons).
Cons: There are things you need to know to do beyond what they tell you that can help with results (this is because everyone is different and heals at different periods). And, it may not work for you, and also depends on your Doctor's preference.
I had to watch other youtube videos to get beyond the basic information. This was from previous patients, other doctors and other professionals. Anytime I wanted to do something I would also double check with my doctor to see if I should do it too.
There are added costs they don't tell you about. I wasn't told I would/should purchase a third faha as my faha is getting loose. Or that it is good to go to the faha website and check the sizing AND measure yourself often so you have the correct size.
They didn't tell me until after the surgery that I should get lymphatic drainage massage. This had an added cost of about $50 a pop. I have spent over $500 and it would probably end up being $1500 at the end of it. But, I also have to add they said you can do it on your own, but for the best results it's better to see a professional. They did tell me I should only do it up to what I am willing/can afford.
The 3rd faha cost about $80. A good scar cream ($120), and massage rollers, and oils. And other things, like an ab board ($20) is very helpful.
At the end of the day, I spent $2,000 more.
And other issue small issue with customer service. My 2nd stage faha was not the right size to begin with and was too big within a week. I was supposed to get the right size but if I didn't call like 5 times in a three week period I wouldn't of gotten a new one.
Disclaimer: I chose to do the extra stuff because I want the best results AND I don't regret it. I WOULD have done it again.
Final thoughts: I love how I look 4 weeks in. You have to be your own advocate, and speak up, follow the directions of the doctor even if it is not comfortable. At the same time trust the process!
I am extremely happy even at week 4, my results won't be complete until month 3 (possibly month 6).
First off let me start by saying being evaluated by a non-medical sales person who gives you a price of what she thinks you need and then once you get to the doctor he tells you something else but yet you cannot see the doctor unless you pay for your surgery in full red flag. Im a little over 3 months post op I had the EX done along with upper abdomen lower
Abdomen in my waists lipo-suctioned and back bra line from my fist week post op I Express to the nurse that one side was bigger then the other she told me it was just swollen here I am 3 months later and I look ridiculous in clothes because one side is bigger then the other my stomach still has fat In it I have a pooch when I sit down which I don't understand because I was told if I got the mini tummy tuck and Lipo that I wouldn't have such a pooch and I'm so embarrassed about the situation I got this done because I'm having my beautiful wedding in June and I wanted to look nice in my dress but I look hideous I look a mess and it makes me very sad because I paid almost $12,000 for a result like this The
"treatments" at Sonobello are not
ANYTHING like what they describe. Also when I went to my 3 month post op the nurse kept telling me that the reason my stomach and side are big still is because I have lose skin which didn't make any sense because it clearly say that sonobello gos in wit the laser Lipo always takes out the fat and times of the skin. Which doesn't make sense because I paid for lipo in each area so I shouldn't have fat hanging over my bellybutton and a big pouch when I sit and in the clothing that I wear. I
Too was mesmerized by the
Salesperson and pressured into the
Purchase. They call and call non stop until they get your payment
This entire procedure. Today was my 6months post op and the and the doctor told me I needed a full tummy tuck not a mini tummy tuck but what I don't get is that in the first place I wasn't gonna get a tummy tuck I was just getting lipo he recommended me getting a mini tummy tuck so I paid more money for that to not get the results.so if he recommended me getting a mini tuck why would u tell me on my 6 months post op that I needed a tummy tuck. Pls ladies don't come to this place they only care about the money save your money and go so where that the doctor and staff care. And to top it off from the being one of the nurses make me feel very uncomfortable I complained about her and then when I came back for my next appointment there she was again as my nurse and she was even rotor doesn't make any sense because I spoke with the manager and the manager said she will fix it but get there she was again being my nurse with her attitude
Sonobello have a satisfaction guarantee. There was absolutely no difference in appearance after my first procedure which included laser-lipo for my upper arms, upper and lower abdominal, and chin. Unfortunately after my procedure covid happened and so all of my follow up appointments were cancelled. When they finally did get me in…I found out there were new surgeries that were being held as priority instead of current patients having priorities for their follow-up appointments to their procedures. At my "6 month" follow-up which was actually 8-10 month follow up they took the last set of pictures and brought them to me along with my pre-op photos…not the slightest difference, I had to ask the nurse what pictures where the before's and after's…the nurse tells me which are which, then proceeds to say, how do you feel about it, can you see the difference?! My response was, no, can you?! The nurse continues to say that I'll set up another appointment to see Dr. Volk and asked what area I wanted to include in my satisfactory procedure. I said all of them…I paid for all areas and there isn't the slightest difference in a single area other than two large indents on my lower abdominal that wasn't there previous to surgery. Nurse tried to assure me that my stomach would probably be the only area Dr. Volk would redo.
After meeting with Dr. Volk, he did approve to do all the areas over again. The satisfactory surgery I can tell a difference in my chin and stomach…. But he did not do all of the areas as promised. I had asked the nurse if this second procedure would help even our the indents and unevenness from the first procedure, and she assured me it would. My stomach now has even more unevenness and indents…I was told that they would provide complimentary non invasive skin tightening procedures to help the issue. Then after I was told that, they reviewed my health records and then proceeded to tell me because I have a history of cancer there is nothing more they can do for me….? My satisfaction is at a 1 star rating. There is a whole lot more to the story than the long rampage I've already written. But the whole reason I was willing to have this done in the first place is bc I had lost 50 lbs after gaining it due to thyroid cancer…I had peaked and couldn't loose anymore weight and just wanted to tone up with the laser they sell you on. They said I was the perfect candidate for all the areas I'd chosen to have done since I was already leading a healthy lifestyle. Now my stomach has indents and unevenness that apparently nothing can be done about. Do I want a 3rd procedure? Absolutely not, the pain is really bad and the recovery time is definitely not minimal. I am not demanding a full refund But
I do believe that I am owed some money back or at least something to back up their satisfaction guaranteed promise…
Laser liposuction
To start off, I'm assuming months of working as a covid nurse blinded me and I wanted to feel better about myself physically if not mentally. Right from the beginning, the phone consultation agent, Amy, told me there would only be 3 incisions and I didn't know until the day of the procedure that there are actually 5 for the tri-sculpt. The surgeon did not even make them even enough for the indented scars to look close to okay a year later. The medical assistant tried to say I was an inch and a half shorter than I've been measured my entire adult life 30 minutes before the procedure-I'm assuming in an attempt to make me pay more for an increased BMI even though I had already pre-paid. The sedative medications were given only 10 minutes before the procedure which is no where near enough time for them to work. I was told there would be an anesthesiologist on site but did not encounter one before, during or after the procedure. I know this because I was completely awake and aware the ENTIRE time. From the lidocaine injections to the scalpel incisions, I felt every single cut and insertion. There were several times where I was in such severe pain that I actually tried to stop the surgeon from continuing and had to be reprimanded by her and my hands held down by, who I assume, was the intra-op nurse. It felt like a hot blade was being scraped inside of my entire abdomen over and over. The medications finally kicked in at the very end of the procedure, just in time to make it difficult to get off of the table and walk back into the holding room. I finally fell asleep in the recliner and was woken up by a staff member telling me my ride had arrived. I was brought down in a wheel chair only to the front door. I was told to stand up and my family member then had to hold me up for half a NYC block to get me in the car. By the time we arrived home I was in such excruciating pain that I needed to be assisted into the house by 2 family members. As the day continued, my family had to call the office for pain medication assistance. I never once heard from the surgeon or received any feedback on the procedure. I spent an entire week on strong pain medications and needing help to even make it to the bathroom. When taking my compression body suit off to shower I looked like a reanimated corpse for several months. It has been a year now and I still have numbness in several areas on my abdomen. The right side next to my navel is a noticeable lump about the size of my palm. I contacted the nurse in the NYC office and was told I could have a revision. I would not even consider going back there. My 5 scars are dark and indented and impossible to even conceal in a bathing suit. I look like I have two belly buttons. At one point a month after the procedure my 2 lower incisions had not yet fully closed and the right one appeared infected with pus and drainage. After contacting the office about this the nurse told me she would inform the doctor but no one got back to me about this. This type of practice feels negligent and dangerous to me.
I should have done the research and had several consultations with different doctors before working with Sono Bello. I had a tummy ex procedure but what I really needed was circumferential liposuction and tummy tuck. Sono Bello can't do it. They basically remove skin between the belly button to lower abdominals up to the front part of your waist. They do liposuction in the area and stitch the skin together. Although it has healed and is an improvement over what I had it is not what I truly expected. I have some diastasis recti and my transverse abdominis is a bit distended from weight loss. So my stomach sticks out a bit. I have been doing exercise to decrease the distention but not sure how far I can go with that. They try to make a negative sound like a positive. They say recovery from the tummy ex is faster than a tummy tuck but what they don't tell you it is not the same result. They are not doing a mini-tummy tuck as they suggest in one of their youtube videos. They tell you that you do not undergo anesthesia as if that is a plus but it is a cost-saving measure for them. They give you a high-dose tranquilizer in place of general anesthesia and of course local anesthetic saline at the site of surgery. I was not awake or conscious for the procedure until I could feel the pain of the liposuction device I came in and out of consciousness because of the pain. After the surgery, my wife was shocked when she saw me aided by someone because I was barely conscious and staggering in order to get me out of the office. As time goes by and I see the back fat, the jagged scar, and the distended belly, I realize I did not get the correct treatment for what I needed and for the result I wanted. If I had gone to a normal full-service cosmetic surgery doctor they would have been able to do the procedures that were necessary. It may have cost more and taken longer to recover but I would have gotten the optimal result. For whatever reason, there are only certain things that can be done at Sono Bello. If your case is a good match for what capabilities they have you might be more satisfied with the result. They have agreed to correct the dog ear on the side of my waist and straighten the jagged scar. Because of my surgical experience at Sonobello, I am afraid to have them work on me again and will probably leave it and get a corrective procedure from a fully capable cosmetic surgery office when I can afford it in the future. The salesperson was extremely knowledgeable and friendly but don't be fooled they are there to make it sound amazing and they are not medical personal. When I had issues and complaints the salesperson avoided my phone calls and it took a long time before we connected. They were not nearly as responsive as they were when they were trying to make the sale and complete the contract. Finally, they will say how many procedures they have done to suggest how experienced they are but they may not reflect how experienced your surgeon is. So confirm the experience of the surgeon. I think my surgeon did the best they could within the limitations of the procedural regulations at Sono Bello. Why would a surgeon work here when they could work under a regular cosmetic practice or have one of their own? My guess is to gain some experience with the procedures and techniques. Maybe the pay is good but it is also not their name that is on the line. If they had their own practice they would do everything they could not to varnish their reputation but here they can work sort of in anonymity. Do your research, see a lot of doctors before you make a decision. It's expensive surgery and you want the best result and right treatment for your needs. I hope this is helpful.
