Oh where to start...
Wish I could this company negative stars to the fullest.
As a former employee here I'd advise you to stay away from getting a job here especiallythe Belleville location. No matter how desperate you may be, trust me this place will DESTROY your mental health and the company pays you an absolute $#*! wage (13.55 Legal Slave Wage) and upper management are some the worst & dumbest people you'll ever encounter in your life. Most couldn't mange their way out of wet paper bag if needed too. The manger of the store I have absolute NO problem with, she's done alot since she's been hired but the company doesn't give her resources to be successful and she lost the only employee that had her back and would do anything to help her be successful but because of upper management, they don't like people who work harder then themselves. You can work as hard as you want, clean up the store, implement actual standards bc this store and Holly( The Worst DM) had absolute no standards before wh reflected pretty quick a year ago when I showed up and had to do her job too or even do assistant managers job on a daily basis and still have your hours cut by upper management ( Holly, Moe, Kevin aka The 3 Stooges) and these people when they visit spend the whole time just sitting around gossiping about other stores, taking about bonuses they don't deserve, looking at tiktoks, Instagram etc or just spend all day in Starbucks/ Tim Hortons and never actually do anything when they show up while acting like they're doing you a favor.
They had a mangers meeting a couple weeks ago and they should've given out small trees so all these clowns in upper management can replace the oxygen they waste walking around. Just have a conversation with the VP about insoles in Sketchers for example and you'll know what im talking about when it comes to stupidity at its finest. The product knowledge and company systems are incredibly outdated and they've coasted off doing the bare minimum while themselves are making almost six figures or even north of that. Can't forget all the favoritism and nepotism thats all through this company too, its quite ridiculous. Imagine your bosses boss being her sister for example ( Niagara Falls Area) or the warehouse and I could keep going.
Taking a job anywhere for this company will just make you hate retail, make yourself more miserable especially being incredibly underpaid plus its not worth dealing and being around hypocritical appreciation and narcissistic personalities all through this company especially from incompetent upper mangers.
Definitely Top worst retail companies to work for in all of Canada & some of the worst & incompetent mangers in retail you'll ever encounter too!

Terrible customer service and return policies.
In mid December, 2021, I placed an online order, on behalf of my spouse, for a pair of boots, as a Christmas gift, to be picked up in store.
I got the boots the next day. My spouse received the boots that day. The boots were the correct size, fit her feet, but were unfortunately very uncomfortable to wear. My spouse elected to continue wearing her old non-waterproof boots, instead of these pooly assembled Softmoc boots.
After Christmas, I tried returning the uncomfortable pair of boots to the Ottawa Place d'Orleans store. The store employee took almost 30 minutes in correspondence with virtualbcustomer service, to process my refund. Although the return was for an unused subpar product, with the receipt, withing the allowable return time frame, the return could NOT be allowed without the original box? There was no mention of this box/original packaging requirement within there return policy, on the store receipt or online. I tried calling customer service several times, but kept getting hung up on, with the automated phone system? My 6 year kid was also becoming more and more restless, adding to my stress. In the end, I foolishly elected to take a store gift card, instead of returning home to seek out the stupid box. I figured my spouse would find another more suitable pair of boots from Softmoc. The store rep never told me that the store gift card was non-refundable, if no other store product could be found.
Unfortunately, my spouse could NOT find any other boots from Softmoc that she was interested in. Also, the original boot box was found.
Upon my return to Place d'Orleans Softmoc, a few days later, I was informed on the non-refundable gift card policy, by the same useless employee, after another lengthy virtual consultation with virtual customer service. My calls to customer, on another phone line than the website, actually quickly led me to a customer service rep, who repeated their inability to refund me the value of the gift card. The manager repeated the same line, like a parrot, hiding behind the inflexible internal policies.
Softmoc is by far the worst shoe store I have ever had the displeasure of being associated with. The products are of poor quality. The staff are not very knowledgeable or helpful, and customer service are absolutely pathetic.
Please avoid associating with them. If you do anyway, hold on to your receipt AND THE BOX!
Hold on to your receipt and box. Never take their gift card, unless you want your money to be kept hostage!
