Unfortunately I signed up with Smegoweb before doing proper research. Shortly afterwards I had a good look around online and quickly realised my mistake.

Firstly I found many positive reviews that had been duplicated across several review sites. Many of these have Western names but were clearly not written by Western people. I believe they have been falsely created by the company.

Then I discovered some of their terrible work. The main example I found was this site: http://www.irenedrawmanphotography.com.au/
As you can see the text is very poor English and several of the photos are unbelievably low resolution. Is this a real photographer? I'm not sure.

After seeing the above I demanded my money back but they refused.

Now for my personal experience. I run a photography and design business so my web presence is extremely important to me. Smegoweb created a Google My Business listing and lots of ads on a variety of sites such as Yelp, Oneflare, etc. in an attempt to drive traffic to my website and improve Google rankings. Everything that was done was nothing short of embarrassing! The text didn't make sense and they took images from my website and stretched or squashed them to fit in different places. People were making abusive comments saying things like "Who on earth would hire you for your design work?" and other things that I won't repeat...

At the end of the three month period Google Analytics showed that all their terrible work had driven just a handful of people to my website. What a complete waste of time and money!

My time with Smegoweb cost me nearly $700 directly but has indirectly cost me much, much more. I have spent hours and hours on the phone to them as well as time spent searching the net for posts they created to either delete or alter them. I'm still trying to get my money back and there are still many of these terrible ads on many sites that are completely out of my control!

Their website say "96% client satisfied", I believe this is a blatant lie.

If you are looking for assistance in your marketing make sure you get it from a local company, never ever risk your reputation by using an overseas company! Alternatively use www.moz.com to do the work yourself.
