This company provides a service that is similar to buying a lotto ticket. Except all you can expect to win is the purchase value of the ticket and the chance of that happening are similar to winning the actual lotto jackpot.
The sequence of events are as follows below. I'm sure many here who have had the same pleasure of dealing with Smartbuyglasses.co.nz (or. Com or whatever domain suits your country to make you feel more confident) will find the below familiar.
1) I made an order for a pair of Tom Ford Glasses Order number ND*******621G. For a heavily discounted price of $348 NZD, but still a lot of money all the same.
2)I got a "Order confirmation" email back. Immediately
3)This was followed by a "status update" that in fact the glasses were not in stock and would have to be "back ordered"
I sent a strongly worded email suggesting that I was loosing confidence in smartbuyglasses.co.nz being a legitimate business.
5) I got a reply (from "Camille") with an apology and 3 remedy options:
*Option 1) Select a new pair from the options I have selected for you below (actually quite good options, but i'm a once bitten twice shy kind of guy.)
*Option 2) Wait for your original order (apparently it will take 1-3 weeks to get item into stock)
*Option 3) Refund
Before I had the chance to reply, I got another status update. This time the order status had changed from "back ordered" to "Discontinued". So not just had they taken payment for items not in stock, but they had taken payment for something they were never going to be able to supply! Dumbfounded.
O and here is the kicker, they continue to advertise the glasses I originally ordered (apparently discontinued). At this point I just started laughing, demanded a refund or have my credit provider reverse payment and start a fraud investigation.
I suspect there will be reviews on here that are positive, in the unlikely instance that smartbuyglasses came through (as above, a lottery) and I also suspect some of he reviews on here are totally fabricated by the business or associates themselves.

It's as the Ol' saying goes, if it's too good to be true, it probably is.
