Never going to advance auto ever again. I tried ordering a $20 part online and paid an additional $20 to get it shipped in 1-2 days. Arrived in three but I chalked that more up to fed ex. When I received the part, it was in a 20 year old box from another company and wasn't the right part at all. They put a sticker over the original part number with the one from the actual part I ordered and it wasn't right. I called their customer service number and they told me to refund it at my closest advanced auto parts store and I did. They said I should get a new one later on in 1-2 days. After three days I called back and asked the status of my order as I didn't have an order number to track but they did because technically they did the order and not me. I talked to the previous person on Saturday and when they said it should arrive in 1-2 days. I called Tuesday and it still didn't show up. I called the customer service number again and they said that it wont be arriving until Wednesday. After Wednesday that brings us to Thursday evening when I called again and they said the entire order was canceled because after I refunded the part at my local store it canceled everything. I refunded it like they told me to do but why would they be telling me that it would arrive Wednesday? At this point it had been 9 days since I first made the order. I asked if I could get this part for free with the free 1-2 day shipping because I desperately needed a car again and I was already put upon with all these jokes of a company and they said they couldn't do that, which in retrospect I understand. I asked to talk to their supervisor and they also said they couldn't do that either. They said I could order it and I could get the 1-2 shipping for free and just pay for the part which I was fine with. So when I went back to their website, they where completely out of stock of the part entirely. My theory is some lazy bonehead at the advance auto warehouse thought it would be a good idea to ship out the bottom of the barrel part which was clearly not packaged in the 21st century and didn't even both to take a visual look of the part to make sure it was the right one. They just slapped a sticker on it and sent it out. But there are so many unanswered questions. Why would I get a completely different part in a shoddy disguise of the one I ordered? Why was I told to refund my order if that would get rid of everything? Why was I told it would be arriving wednsday? And most of all, why didn't advance restock all their parts and instead give me something and then nothing. An absolute garbage company, never buying from them ever again

I mean no disrespect to employees of this business when I tell, story. My experience is not with any local parts store, it it with the company as a whole, and feel the people of this great nation need to know the frustration, stress, fear of losing life by way of brake loss due to oil contaminated car quest oil sold as new.
A warning to EVERYONE! Advance first of all does not care at all about how any of their products have impacted your life, or may have caused any stress, fear, frustration, they simply only care about MONEY! Surprise, right? I've even written to the CEO about this, and here's another surprise, want to guess? You are correct, NOTHING, NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY!
See, most people who buy parts from this company, do work on cars themselves, and in some cases while you're taking off a part you send someone to buy a part, so you can cut the job time in half. Listen very carefully! If you send someone who lives at your SAME ADDRESS and not thinking they give their number instead of your, this creates a huge problem, so please I warn you, dispute what stress of fixing a car you have going on at that point, for the love of God, tell them to use your number!
A caliper went bad in a 2010 ford focus, but there's a parts store down the road that can get me up and going so while I thought at the time, I'll start taking the components off the car and send someone to pick up parts, this was a mistake, not this company! A caliper, brake fluid, clamp tools, and pads were purchased to fix the problem, new caliper replaced, pads installed, brakes bled with what we thought was new fluid, I peeled a foil seal off the lid, and didn't think to call the lab to have them test this fluid, I mean who does?
So now a few days go by, and brakes start getting worse, and then to a compete loss, so I'm inspecting, looking for a leak, but couldn't find anything, at the time I suspected maybe the booster, but I'm not a mechanic and wouldn't know how to diagnose that. $485 later and loss of a vehicle for a week, the shop changed the master cylinder and flushed the system hoping that would fix problem, and did for a week then brake loss again, so back to shop!
Now $805 later everything needed to be be replaced, and another master cylinder, but that was warrantied, or it would have been over $1,000 for the second visit. I forgot to mention the shop verified the brake fluid bottle purchased, and used to bleed brakes was in fact the same contaminated in the car. The irony here is that more money was given to Advance Auto Parts because all the new parts were purchased by the shop that went into the car. You see, I didnt pay for any of those parts either, I mean I did by those parts, but using Advance Auto Parts way of thinking I guess I really don't have any claim, I have the shops receipts because I demanded them, but I guess Advance Auto Parts is right, those parts in the car now belong to the shop, I just paid for them.
Big companies have big lawyers! This post is not to rant, or keep anyone from dealing with someone they trust, the employee's in these stores are great! I've never had a problem, it's the company itself, the CEO that cant say he's sorry a life could have been lost, but honestly although I sent multiple messages, even Expressing how important it is he reads this, I'm not sure the greed at the top even told him about it, but SHAME ON THIS COMPANY FOR PUTTING $1,300 above a life.
They even got a piece of that, after I "didnt buy a caliper, pads, and tanted fluid" they benefited by selling a master cylinder, another 2 calipers, a lot of fluid, another set of pads, wheel cylinders, hoses and so on! Due to this not being a single store, and company itself I will repost everywhere. Again this means no disrespect to local businesses, as I said I think you guys are great. This is to inform the great people of this nation how this company at a higher level works, Thank you!
So I went to order some parts and was immediately greeted with issues when trying to check out. I was unable to even access the checkout page without an error popping up. Customer service was helpful, but essentially gave up and was just going to manually input my order. I was able to checkout on my mobile device.
Decided to give the free same day shipping a try since it was an available option. The purchase was scheduled to deliver around 3:30pm and was notified via text message. Received a text message around that time saying that my order delivery had been cancelled. A link was provided to check the status and the link went to Doordash. This company uses Doordash to deliver their products... food delivery services are extremely unreliable and I figured they utilized their own drivers since they already have their own employees delivering parts all day. So it looks like my dasher probably cancelled.
Fast forward to about 7 pm. Receive a notification that my order will be delivered around 6:30 pm... I will repeat, I received a notification stating my delivery would show up AFTER the scheduled delivery time and the item wasn't even delivered. A door dasher then sends me a text message asking for the address. I think this is strange but give him my address. He informs me that he needs the address to the STORE. Why the heck do I have to provide this? Do you not pass this onto your door dashers? So the only address I was provided from my late text messages is the main street name. My city is setup on a grid system so a single street name isn't very helpful. I had to go and look up the address for this place and provide it to him; hoping that this was the right address.
He cancelled and said another dasher will pick it up. Great, so I call the store to try and resolve this; at this point I am willing to just pick my order up. Guess what; the store is supposed to be open until 9:30 pm or so and it was 7:30... Great.
Another door dasher messaged me to inform me that the store was closed as well. I told her not to worry about it.
I spoke with customer service and was able to cancel my order. I ended up just picking up the order from a different store in person. What a joke. Your website services are terrible and your business model is terrible. Really, using Door dash? Not providing addresses to Door dashers and requiring me to guide them on how to handle their "job" for delivering orders. What a joke of a company. Your customer service representatives were surprisingly helpful and is the only reason I would ever "consider" buying from you again but I will always go out of my way to shop at O'Reilly's from here on out.
Shop elsewhere unless absolutely necessary.
