Stay well away from Shaw Academy. DO NOT sign up for a free trial, they will take unauthorised payments from your card during your 'free' trial. Amounts of money taken range from £49.99- £200. You cannot cancel online, you have to ring up and go through what is basically bullying before you are allowed to cancel. Even then they will keep your details and have taken money from accounts even after cancellation. THIS IS A SCAM

I decided to cancel on day two of my 30 day free trial because I did not like all of the tricky upsell's at every twist intern on the platform. I started to get the feeling I was dealing with a dishonest organization which has since proven true.

The company makes it difficult to cancel as they are trying to retain you as a customer so they can steal money from your bank account. The very same time I canceled they ran a charge of $69.99 which is the monthly fee of their platform. When I reached out to customer service I was told I did not cancel before the free trial ended which is a flat out lie. They denied my refund and now will not respond to me at all. There is no number to call, and I am in the process of disputing the charges with my bank.

This is a predatory parasitic company that is praying on people under the guise of education during a global pandemic when economic hardship is rampant. They need to be shut down immediately! It's a shame because I actually did enjoy the first class I took and learned some new things.
What a waste for all involved!

They charged me over $100 for a membership when I was in my first week free trial. When I requested a refund they deleted my account on their website. They steal money from their customers and treat them horribly. Total SCAM. I report fraud to the authority. This behaviour is not acceptable.

During the summer I like to expand some software knowledge and look for other ways people are teaching graphic design. I signed up for a FREE trial to test out a 4-week, 8 course free trial for graphic design. The website is purposefully misleading and there were prompts to "unlock your first module". Trying to navigate out of this there was no other way and seemingly like part of the first course that was to come in a few days. Within hours after signing up I realized it was a mistake and would not even be worth the time. I tried to cancel.

I went through the whole waiting forever on the phone and pressing this prompt and that and finally jumped through all the hoops to cancel.

I checked back on my credit card and there was still a charge for $69. When contacting them and supply them to email that confirmed my cancellation they responded that I had unlocked a module and would therefore not able to refund my money.

BEWARE. They will send you down a a rabbit hole and charge you for every step.

Unethical waste of time.

I got what seemed like an incredible offer from this site. So I clcked on the link and submitted my details. A confirmation sms was sent to my phone. This is where the alarm bells started ringing. I have a folder in my phone called: don`t answer. This is where the sms turned up. Clearly I had dealt with them before and forgotten the bad experience, but had the presence of mind to save the number in the dodgy caller folder. This led me to run a search on the company and it was soon clear, that they are obviously a scam institute. Like most scammers, they try to get you to buy the "pro" account or the subsciption offer and then bill you for things you don't want. You then have to fight them for months trying to get your money back. There are support groups on Facebook for people who have been conned by this lot.
Thankfully I never confirmed my subscription, but that didn't stop them from calling me everyday for two weeks. I never answered the phone.

Tip for consumers:
Don't give them your credi card info.

My first post was remove. I don't know why it was deleted but i will not stop post to the people be aware. This one of the apps that will scam you. Be careful. I saw their ads on Facebook and try the free 4 week trial. In my last week of trail i want to cancel my subscription to them it has at 4 part to unsubscribe to them. In the las part of unsubscribing to them it will hang and be careful to not tap the lifetime subscription because i accidentally tap it. In just on tap the billing on my card appears on my notification saying that i pay for the lifetime subscription. I email them to tell that i want to refund and cancel my subscription. But they tell that they will not refund it. I dont things is fare because on that same day and time i email them and contact their support but noting happen they will just get your money. I really want my refund. This website is scam. Check shawacademyscam.com so many people are scam by this site

STAY AWAY! Shaw Academy is a disreputable organization known for using a "free-trial" offer that leads to hundreds of dollars of unauthorized Credit Card charges. They are manipulative and coercive.

My story is below. You can use Google to learn about the many more people around the world who have been taken in by their methods.

In late December, 2020 I came across an advertisement on FaceBook for Shaw Academy. The name is similar to a school that operated in my city several years ago.

The offer was for a free month of classes towards an Acting and Drama Diploma.

I registered for this course on December 29,2020 and received an introductory email. The first red flag was in that email. The email suggested that I obtain a course ToolKit because it would be essential to my learning over the my four-week introductory period. When I clicked on the link I learned that there was a $49.99 charge for the toolkit.

I was concerned about this because there had been nothing in any of the information I read about additional charges for course materials. But after considering this for a day or two I decided to obtain the materials. This turned out to be a huge mistake. First, it indicated that I was interested and enthused about the course. Second, it meant that they had received my credit card information.

On Monday, January 4,2021 I participated in my first online course. After reviewing the materials and viewing the video I felt that the course was adequate. It certainly wasn't earth shattering but it did provide an overview of acting methods and skills. The materials were pretty standard and nowhere worth the $49.99 cost.

Later that evening I received a phone call from someone named Faheem. He began by asking me how the course had gone. I responded that I was frustrated with some of the technical problems I had encountered but once I was set up I thought the course was okay. He didn't seem to listen to me but proceeded to give a long spiel about Shaw Academy. His accent was very thick, he spoke very quickly, and the Cell connection was not very good.

With many requests for him to speak slower I came away with the understanding that I would have access to courses for the next year. At no time was I informed that there would be an additional cost. Nor was I asked if I agreed to any additional charges on my Credit Card.

By this time I was starting to feel very uneasy about my relationship with Shaw Academy. The non-stop emails, the strange phone call at 11:20 pm and the constant attempts at up-selling were all red flags.

At this point I decided to google Shaw Academy. What I found was a multi-national corporation that had received numerous complaints by people around the world who had signed up for a free four-week trial and ended up with problem after problem. These included difficulty ending the relationship, unauthorized charges on their credit cards, and constant manipulation and run-arounds.

It was then that I decided to check my credit card balance. I found a charge for the $49.99 for the course materials which I had authorized. In addition I found a number of unauthorized charges: (1) An unauthorized charge for $49.99, (2) a second unauthorized charge for $49.99 and (3) an additional unauthorized charge of $279.95.

That's right. My response to an offer of a free trial for weeks had led to a total of over $380.00 of unauthorized charges on my credit card within hours if my first class.

Of course I wrote immediately and asked for a refund. I just received a response. "I understand that you are looking for a refund. I looked into your situation and our refund policy does not allow one in this case." The email offered a "Lifetime free membership"

I've responded that Lifetime free membership isn't "free" at all since I was charged over $380 with-in one day of starting the course. Furthermore, I no longer wish to have any kind of relationship with this organization. I also noted that it is despicable for Shaw Academy to be running this kind of scam on people like me who are financially vulnerable due to the COVID-19 crisis.

I consider my case unresolved and will continue to update this post until I receive a full refund.
There are many online education opportunities that won't try to scam you like this.

Tip for consumers:
Do not let this organization gain access to your personal or credit card information. You will be sorry.

I was excited to come across this opportunity for a 4-week, 8 course free trial for graphic design. The flexible schedule was ideal for me to be able to attend.

The first course was a Sunday at 1:00 pm. I was logged in and ready to go 33 minutes prior. 18 minutes later I got an email that the course had begun and that I was missing it. That was odd because I had the window open and waiting while I did other things. When it was 1:00 pm, the window I had open didn't start automatically, but within a minute of being late I was in the meeting which was in progress.

The class itself was informative as an intro, very basic, but I didn't have any idea as to what level of experience this course was intended for. Nonetheless, I was excited to attend my next class the next day, Monday at 1:00 pm. In the meantime, I learned that I could get some sort of hard copy "diploma" upon completion, though there was an additional charge.

The next morning, hours before my next class was to being I began receiving a rash of emails that I had missed my first class and needed to reschedule. I had certainly not missed it. It made me wonder what would happen should I have purchased the hard copy of the certificate and the course not registering that I had attended a class or classes.

A little while later, I was at work and I get a phone call from a foreign number. It was Shaw Academy reminding me of my class beginning "soon" (4 hours later). I set the courses to my conveniences so they wouldn't interfere with my job, but Shaw Academy was calling me to remind me of my course. Do they think i'm 12-years-old without a parent and needing a reminder for me to go to school? They have to bother me at work.

Tip for consumers:
Don’t use Shaw Academy.

Do not fall for their offer of free trial period. When I tried to cancel the free trial membership, I was directed to no less than 6 pages to confirm cancellation. My membership was still not cancelled. The website directed me to a call center phone number with the hours 9-8pm. It was too late in the evening so I called the next day around 5pm but the recorded message stated the call center closes at 5pm. Due to their incorrect information I was ONE BUSINESS DAY late in canceling. Instead of providing the courtesy, I was charged a full amount. UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICE AND NO PHONE NUMBER TO TALK TO A LIVE REPRESENTATIVE. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ANYTHING THAT THEY OFFER.
