Bad customer service

Self had been sending me notifications to their website I finally made a decision to fill out the application I put in all my personal information on the self website it accepted me once they got my banking information and started deducting money from my account the self website said information we have on file is not matching I was confused so I called the 800 number I explained to them what was going on the first representative was a gentleman I explained the situation I said it's too much going on I would just like a refund and when I told him that I'm sorry I don't want to hear the speech about the website let's just do the refund he got a attitude and he was all in his feelings he had held me on the phone for an hour and 20 minutes before he would allow me to speak to a supervisor once the supervisor got on the phone she pretending like she was trying to be helpful and when she realized that the information that I was giving her over the phone wasn't matching was on the computer instead of her saying to the customer let me email the right people so we can solve this situation she decided it was more important to call me by the wrong name three times over talk me instead of just sending an email letting someone know that the information in the file is not matching but we have Miss Days bank information and it is going to be deducting money out of her account on a automatic deductions every month instead of the supervisor doing that she chose to argue for another 45 minutes I was in disbelief all they had to do was just send an email to the right department this could have been solved less than 10 minutes but instead it was more important for them to over talk me be very disrespectful to show me that they were in control this was the biggest mistake I made on February 27 /2024 I wasted almost three hours arguing about an email and miscommunication on their website 👎👎👎👎👎

Do Not Use Self.

I write this review while currently on hold with Self. Inc. I want to give people an honest outlook and let them know what to expect while using Self. Inc. First I want to say that the business idea is GREAT! However the way Self has handled themselves is beyond disgusting and just down right uncalled for. I first started using Self after traveling overseas for two years. I wanted a way to build a quick credit payment history. Just like any other service that requires use of your debt cards and bank accounts you must verify your identity. Of course I did without issue or complaint. Following this I paid off my $1,600+ balance within five months. I couldn't believe it but surprisingly it worked really well for my credit over those five months. Now for the horrific part of the story. I completed my payments September 5th, I paid off my loan with the last payment in the amount of $575.82. I did this because it will show on your credit how quickly you paid off your loans. Of course I was under the assumption that once you complete your payments you can receive the money back the same month as shown on their site. My dashboard on my account informed me my payout was set to be deposited into my account on September 17th. I was overjoyed this service was great. So I waited without issue or complaint. Suddenly on September 15th Wednesday, almost two weeks later I get THE EMAIL! It tells me I must now again for the 2nd time submit documents to prove my identity. If I refuse they will close my account after 30 days. So I submitted the documents, a passport photo, a photo of my ID and my bank account documents.(Yes you must forfeit the privacy of your bank statements just to receive the full payment you were promised after honorable making payments over months.) I then try to call the number for Self on September 15th, I receive a message informing me to submit the documents requested from me in the email I received and wait 3 business days for a reply followed by abruptly ending the call. I tried calling again same process. I couldn't believe it. They blocked the number tied to my account from reaching anyone by phone to answer questions. So I tried another phone. Once I input my information to connect to an agent the system repeats the message and ends the call. They got me again. So I was lied to the machine gave false information and it worked! I got a human being finally after two days! I gave the person my information with excitement thinking finally progress! He informed me (I see your account is locked, you must submit the documents and wait for approval.) I reply I already have. (He replies then you must wait, we do not have contact with that department) I inform him I paid my account, I was told I would get my money on the 17th after completing my payments on the 5th. So why did that department wait 2 days prior to returning my funds before asking for these documents? (He replies it is out of my control) That was the end of our conversation as he informed me that was all he could do. So Self Inc waited till the last possible moment to request these documents and is withholding my matured account holding $1,600+. Had they requested these documents on Monday rather than Wednesday then I would have been notified and possibly had my money by the weekend. However no, they waited till the last week then waited longer till the middle of the week to notify me. This means my funds will not be returned till late Tuesday of the following week. This is painful because people with bad credit are in this situation because we don't have tens of thousands of dollars sitting around. So if you save up $1,600+ dollars over time and you are finally able to use it to better yourself and those in your life by catching up on bills or buying food or anything important in your life its all put on hold even longer because Self. Inc. Refuses to return money that was due. I honored my part of the contract, why is it that Self. Inc may do as they please? If I am late on a payment Self Inc has the right to charge me and report that harmful information to the credit boards. However they may withhold my money past our agreed upon deposit date till they "feel" like returning it. I would love to understand is why after I verified my identity the first time they did not once request another identity validation till after I completed my payments and they had to pay me back? Why did they not ask this information while I was giving them money? Yet when they have to give me back my money I must then prove who I am? The logic makes no sense. Also the fact that the consumer is completely powerless in this situation is a cause of anxiety in me and I am sure many many other Americans. Why do consumers get punished for following the terms of the contact yet the business gets to do as they please without implications. If anyone is reading this please do not use this service from Self Inc. I would suggest just saving up $1,500 and opening a secured card with Wells Fargo Bank or any bank. I will never use this service again.
