The first chair we ordered late 2017 arrived promptly fully assembled from Fed Ex in excellent condition. The 2nd chair late 2018 was a nightmare. I ordered a chair (Haworth X99) that was ON THEIR WEBSITE, never received it, contacted a month later, never sent, numerous calls and emails, "oh we don't have that chair anymore". What?!? I paid for it, they had my money, why wasn't the chair pulled from inventory and the website with my name attached to it? So I paid more to order another chair ON THEIR WEBSITE, a teal Herman Miller Aeron (I'm up to $450 now), received (a month later) a black Herman Miller Aeron.
It doesn't matter what you order, you will receive something else (whatever they decide to send you), if you receive anything at all. There doesn't appear to be any relationship between the Seating Mind website and their inventory, as well as a system for pulling the inventory once ordered/paid for, transmitting to the shipping department. Unless the shipping dept is now selling the inventory out of the back of their trucks and then sending you what is left? I have to wonder if the company was sold since we ordered the first chair, their software has crashed, they have all new staff and/or? Keep in mind, this happened to me not once but TWICE. Why do they even bother posting photos & descriptions? Why don't they say "Pay your money and we'll send you whatever we want to"?
The 2nd chair came dissembled form UPS and has never worked (the forward tilt doesn't work), obviously it wasn't inspected. I should have returned the chair immediately, I had some health issues and just kept hiring handymen, trying to make the chair work. I was ill-used by Seating Mind.
I did email them and tell them the chair didn't work. I never sit in it, it isn't comfortable because I can't get the angle right, it's too far back, 1-star for this chair unusable. I would never use this company again. By this time I could have bought a brand new chair from Herman Miller. As it is, I've spent over $500 and don't have a chair. The first chair we received, however, from late 2017, is great (a Haworth). Maybe I just don't like the Aeron. But If this is what an Aeron is (something that doesn't tilt forward so there is no back support because the back of the chair doesn't touch my back), then it's worth about $5 if that. I have sat on a Herman Miller Mirra in the Hilton Garden Inn and loved it. And it doesn't change the fact that Seating Mind did not send me what I ordered.
We ordered 6 chairs total online through Seating Mind. The first
Order was for just 1 chair. When we order the other 5 chairs we used exactly
The same SKU#, description & photo off our invoice from the 1st chair
Ordered. We contacted Seating mind to confirm we would be getting these 5
Chairs exactly as the first one ordered before placing the second order.
When we received our second order, the 5 chairs were
Extremely different, missing parts & a different color. I contacted Seating
Mind about this, sent them side by side photos of the chairs indicating missing
Parts. Their rep gave me the excuse that their Warehouse made a mistake &
Sent us an upgraded chair in the 1st order by mistake & that we should pay
For the difference.
I reiterated that we had no idea the first chair was the
Wrong one sent to us since the photo matched what we received & were
Looking for. That we expected to get the same item being ordered a 2nd
Time (which we ended up paying more for). They then went on trying to send us
Different links of photos & descriptions saying we screwed up not them. I
Kept sending them screenshots of the links which I time stamped as proof that
They trying to cover up their mistake. I even went as far to try & find the
Owner/CEO of this company on Linked-In. After I reached out to who I thought
Was the Owner/CEO, their photo was immediately removed.
When I tried calling them it took several weeks to speak
With a live person. I finally got through to a live person & asked for the
Owner/CEO. I was given the same name
Listed on Linked In, Jacob Kellner. Turns out this Jacob person is only a
Manager & refused to call me to discuss this matter. Their Manager e-mailed
Me & told us to pack up the chairs & ship them back for a full refund.
We did not want that, we wanted what we thought we were paying for from the
Beginning. We ended up paying $280 more for a whole lot less of a chair. With
Their actions, dishonesty, excuses, unprofessionalism we simply did not trust them to hold up their end of the deal that once they received the chairs back, we would be reimbursed, so we offered these solutions to make things right. We suggested that instead of them losing out on shipping costs & now having to sell these as used to just send us a sixth chair & call it even or just send us the $280 we overpaid due to their false advertising or replace the 5 chairs with the 1st chair type we
Received. To date they still refuse to make things right.
