Don't Sign Up and Don't Believe the Hype
July 27, 2024

It's all a façade! The leaders run the MLM like they do their Mormon following. The consultants aren't all as nice and helpful as they want you to believe they are when they are trying to rope you in to singing under them. If you sign up, your sales affect the upline, and you don't get anything other than false hopes and dreams to make "lots of money". You have to spend your own money to have any chance of getting ahead, and by getting ahead, I mean making commission on what you bought. The products aren't worth the price tag. Don't fall for those air purifiers or air pod diffusing systems! Those are money pits. The scent pods are expensive at 10.00 for two, and the scent doesn't last more than a day, maybe two if you're lucky. The cleaning products? They leave streaks and the scent dissipates in minutes. Now let's move on to laundry items. A joke! You're paying luxury prices for dollar store results. The scent does NOT last on your clothes unless you use several scoops of their scent boosters, known as washer whiffs. These boosters are 35.00 for 48oz! And like I said, in order for scent to be left on your clothes for the day, you need a solid 4-6 scoops per load and you have to use the entire system of laundry liquid (20.00 for 20oz), scent dryer disks (which are 7.00 and don't do anything for static), and whiffs. Every item is over priced! All of it. The wax is nice, smells great, but 6.00 for 2.6 oz of wax, crazy expensive! The warmers are stunning, that's the honest truth, but they are STEEP, price wise! Their lifetime warranty scheme, is laughable. They decide what gets covered under that, and what qualifies as "replaceable", at random.

Back to the consultants….they are all about "blessing you with the opportunity"! That is what they are fed to say to get you to join them. The more people who join under one, makes the top of the pyramid, richer. They hone in on stay at home moms, military families and older folks. You have to spend HOURS every single day, promoting products and are expected to follow up on sales, weekly or you are deemed "not trying" and will be left in the dust by uplines. They do not care if you are comfortable or not with follow ups or putting your entire life out on social media, you're nearly expected to, because what you do, greatly effects their bank account. Most consultants do not give a rats behind about their down line, unless you are helping in a massive way, to line their pockets. You do get the rare ones who are super sweet, helpful and authentic though, so Bless those guys and gals who can share products without drinking the cool aid. Heidi and Orville (owners) give money to their Mormon church from Scentsy sales. Not many people realize this.

So if you like products with luxury price tags, want to believe that this company is all about their sales consultants, and that there is always "a seat at our table" (a table that has requirements and reserves the right to judge), then Scentsy is for you. If you want to save money, (and who doesn't need to at this day and age) and not have the wool pulled over your eyes, shop small businesses and stick to regular store shopping 😉

Products used:

Wax, Warmers, Cleaning Line, Laundry Line, Pod Diffuser Systems, and Scentsy Fresh fabric sprays.

Treatment of Scentsy Consultants - needs improvement
August 24, 2020

I have been selling Scentsy for over 15 years... and by selling, I actually mean I am my biggest customer. But as I enjoy the products overall, I felt it better to become a rep and "sell" it to enjoy the discounts and free products with each purchase. Having said that, I have had to reach out to the customer service department very little over the past 15 years. However, when I did, I was stunned at the lack of cooperation on their part. The most recent two I will share - 1. COVID-19, as a consultant I am required to sell/purchase a certain dollar amount every 3 months. My husband lost his job and mine went on hiatus due to C19 and when I asked the company for a reprieve due to the lack of sales and my inability to cover the minimal purchase amount, they said no and told me that my only option would be to have me declared inactive, cancel my status and in 3 months, I would be able to repurchase a starter kit to reactive myself as a consultant. Really? I was so blown away by that response, I didn't even know what to say. I ended up pulling together enough to cover the amount about an hour before the deadline, but I begrudgingly did it. For those wondering, I receive a significant discount that would have taken me another 4-5 years to get back had I let it lapse. 2. I live in an extremely hot area of the country, where summers are over 110 degrees for most of it. When the waxes are shipped, they usually come with several ice packs included. However, this particular order, someone forgot the ice packs. When it arrived, I opened up a bag of liquified wax that had leaked into the box and probably into the UPS truck (lucky him, his truck will smell incredible for a few days) and was all but unusable. In hindsight, I should have taken a photo, but when I reached out to Scentsy and told them what happened, it took 3 supervisors and me repeating the story several times before they gave me a "one time courtesy" replacement. But, not before they asked me to ship back the bag of liquid wax, at my expense. Again... seriously? It's wax and it wasn't going to make it out of my city much less all the way back to Idaho without turning into the very puddle I received. Why share this? Because at the end of the day, though they have some fairly good stuff, they do not care for their consultants. Unless you are selling thousands of dollars worth of their products on a regular basis, you will not get any help or assistance from the company, your advisor, or any other consultant. You are on your own. It literally is your business, your problem. To those who have had issues with consultants, that is why. The consultant won't get a replacement or a refund for you unless they pay for it themselves because the company won't do it at all. So my advice: if you enjoy Scentsy as I do, buy away, but at your own risk. If any product arrives damaged, take photos and contact the company directly. Plan on shipping the products you received back to them at your cost. This honestly was the first time I'd received a damaged product, but it is their treatment of consultants that is the most frustrating. Consultants are what keep their company going - it would behoove them to treat them better. Asking them to fix a mistake that they caused should not be such a challenge. Orville and Heidi(owners) you guys need to be a bit more hands on with your customer service staff and make sure they are handling the people, who make you rich and keep your lifestyle going, better than they have been.
