This is an update to my earlier review. After weeks of testing the Iridium SHOUT Nano manufactured by NAL Research I have largely given up on the product. First, In order to use the NAL SHOUT Nano one MUST use the Windows operating system. This was NEVER made clear in ANY advertisements prior to my purchase nor by the sales persons (Eddie or Jon). I ceased using Windows in 2015 when I retired from my government job and I LOVE Mac. The difference is like driving a Ford Pinto and a Mercedes Benz in my opinion. My testing of the device in the Philippines and Japan, as well as on Guam indicated routine errors of 1 mile despite pulling in 7 satellites simultaneously. I would attach photos to show how egregious those errors are but I am unable to attach photos in SiteJabber. 1 mile errors are acceptable for a ship in the ocean but not a person overboard in heavy fog. I had at least 1 error of 22 miles. Through the ordeal I contacted technical support at Atlantic Radio and Telephone (ART) and they were professional and passed me to their wholesaler (I found out there was a wholesaler between Iridium and ART) Brian at area code (954). He passed me to Debra at iridium at area code (480) and she told me Iridium does not deal with end users. She said she would have someone call me back. To this date, no one ever called me back. After more testing ART referred me to NAL Research. I spoke to Technical Support and that is where I finally learned I would have to operate in Windows. Once in Windows I would have to then download their proprietary software to be able to actually read the coordinates accurately. Now I found it rather amusing that a retailer would have ME do the research because other retailers like Amazon and Wal-Mart do the work because that is why their earn their price markups... but here I was the guy doing all of the work. I actually looked into getting Parallels and Windows for my Mac but that was another $200+ on top of an $880 SHOUT Nano! I can get a very similar device for $449 from an internationally famous GPS manufacturer and a tracking program that does NOT require Windows or Mac... just Internet access. There are some tiny advantages of the SHOUT Nano if you need to operate in a "denied" area but otherwise... I got my clock cleaned and learned my lesson. Again, at no point in time was ANYONE rude to me, but with the hidden software needs and my having to do all of the research... VERY disappointing.
