“Home delivery”

First time ordering, will be the last time ordering they pick the worst food. Charges the most money. Don't apply any coupons discounts or the rewards card. Highly disappointed in this service. If you want to get little food for no money order from Safeway. Maybe it's a good idea for Fred Meyers is going to buy them out. Received no receipts. Received substitutions that I cannot eat because I'm diabetic. Was not even given the courtesy to ask if a substitution was okay. Ordered over 70 items and all of them were either out of stock or they substituted it. I will make sure and tell everyone do not order from Safeway. Highly disappointed long-term loyal Safeway customer

Opened the app, finally found the icon to download the required digital coupon.
"item not recognized" on both of the items i was seeking.
Two clerks tried and said they have the same issue when trying to purchase items.
First the FORCE you download the app to get the sales price.
Then the app does not work.

Unfortunately who I thought was a trustworthy older lady was a thief in disguise... She told me $5 due and then pocketed the money and had the nerve to say I'm not giving it back! Wow! I'm fully disabled and paid with an s3 card and this coldhearted employee tells me I have a balance... I pay and you pocket my money and then get smart! Wow! Ms. Patricia shocked me but kharma is alive and real and I will get my money back!

The Pearl District Portland Safeway won't staff the customer service desk when customers need them too. This has been going on for over one years time! The manager on duty refused to open it on more than one occasion when I asked. I have to go to a different store to get my needs met. This store is close to my home and I do not drive! Please staff the customer service desk or tell the MOD to open it when customers want service.

Tip for consumers:
The customer service desk needs to be staffed! MOD should jump in when needed!

I order groceries online for pickup. I rely on updated info to select. When I get my purchase receipt it is out of stock. When I go back to the order site it shows availability. This is not professional. I expect this from a mom and pop entity. This scenario has repeated itself seven consecutive orders. I'M AT WITS END!

Pirates is my nickname for these guys. I don't have much of a choice where I live so forced to shop here even though they do crap like make you navigate through their PIA app to get an ad price for strawberries and then don't give you that sale price. Happens way more than it should and I shouldn't have to check my receipt to make sure I get the correct price. You might suggest I watch for the price on the screen as they scan but therein is another issue, most of the time I have to bag my own groceries or stand and waste more time as the checker nonchalantly throws items in my bag. While I'm venting, I was going to buy a bag of potato chips but I had to buy 2 to get 2 free to receive the $2 savings. I don't need 4 bags of chips and I wasn't about to pay the inflated price of $4.49 for one bag. Pirates!

Went to Safeway to buy milk today in Coquitlam bc. There was a snow storm 2 days ago and things don't run on time after this. Well there was no milk in the store, so I asked the cashier if she knew when it would come…don't ask, they will freak out on you, very rude answers and not very professional. All they need to do is say I don't really know. They need to put a sign on the milk fridges to tell customers that the milk is delayed.

They frequently substitute stuff I didn't ask for. I do like that they finally added a substitution choice list and it's gotten better since then. They don't track their deliveries at all. When late and you go to the chat they say they're 'escalating' it and someone from the store will contact me and that never, EVER happens.

Many Fridays I went to safeway for Friday special sale products after work about 5pm. But they always sold out. This Friday I took off 3 hours earlier to get there for the special sale products, but they still sold out. Waste my time. So disappointed.

Tip for consumers:
I like safeway store. Good quality stuff, good customer service... . The only thing I don't like is they always sold out the Friday special sale products too early.

I have been a faithful shopper at Safeway for decades, but I am tired of them screwing up orders, over charging, and failing customer service. It's honestly become a breath of fresh air IF employees are caring and do their job. Many times, at multiple stores, I have been made to feel like I am bothering them if I am trying to purchase something from the deli or the meat counter. I understand they are overwhelmed and overworked, but it doesn't mean you get to treat customers poorly! They don't have enough checkers, it's practically a miracle if there is a bagger. I am disabled, and I am tired of bagging my own groceries while the checker just looks on and acts annoyed that I am not super fast. I have received more help from fellow shoppers than I have most employees. Every time I order online for pick up it seems like they pick out the worst possible produce and meat for me, when I know there is better in the store. It starts to feel like they are told to give pick up customers the worst of what's available. I bought lettuce tonight and had to throw half of it out! Being immunocompromised I try to avoid going in store during cold and flu season. But they always mess up my order, so I always wind up going inside the store anyway! This week their online inventory didn't even match up with what was actually in stock in the store. Then there were items that they claimed were out of stock, but when I went into the store myself, all but one item were actually in stock; right there on the shelf! It's like they don't even try to find things sometimes. I can't stand the way they substitute things. The options for substitutions are so limited. Many times because of the way the substitution guidelines are set up, I don't get what I need. Yet, if I go into the store myself, there usually is a suitable substitute on the shelf! Unfortunately it seems that every Safeway in my area is the same. I recently had an experience in Greeley CO where I went in the store at 7:00 pm. When I went to check out, there were no registers open, only self check. There was one possibility 30 something manager and a bunch of teenage and early 20 something employees. They shut down the main entrance at 7:30 pm, and were pretty much refusing to work! I asked if any check lines were open and was told by a teenage girl that they weren't. All of the shoppers were being forced to use self check, even people like myself with orders that were way too big for a self check station. I wound up stacking items all over the bagging area. I don't know what the deal was, but all of the store front employees were standing around talking, messing around, and socializing as they watched all the customers do everything themselves! They even got on registers, and just sat there BSing with each other, but never opened a single register, nor did they do anything on the register like count drawers or install receipt paper etc. They just made it a complete social hour for themselves. I have never experienced anything like it ever! It's too bad, because I do like their Safeway brand products, and they used to be a great place to shop. Now I am reconsidering my loyalty.

I have been getting my groceries delivered since the pandemic. They always get something wrong. When I call customer service or the store that delivers I have gotten attitude like why dont you come to the store and shop.
I think they dont like to deliver and mess up orders on purpose to discourage ppl from getting deliver service.

Every time I get rewards. You take them without warning. Seriously. This is such BS and that is putting it politely. Before you would let one know if they were expiring.
Your reward system is GARBAGE.!

I've lived near and shopped Safeway (Fountain, CO; #1975) for close to 17 years. It was my regular food shopping market, until recently. Several times over the years, they've run out of hand baskets. And without exception, I'll mention it to a manager or floor staff employee. And without exception, the employee will say (paraphrasing), "We're not buying any more. Too many people walk out with them." Within a few weeks, a new supply is on the floor. Weak excuse. This Fountain branch can't be any different than any other supermarket, with the # of handbasket thefts. But... I've never known of any other supermarket not always having them available. And, I was informed that the Fountain branch leads Colorado Safeways' sales. And so it's fair to assume their profits are excellent. As one so familiar, I tried to not shop in the late afternoon, as it's *very* crowded.

Considering their profits, and the fact there's no way they're losing more than 1-3 handbaskets/day, at a wholesale cost that shouldn't be over $15 (possibly half that... cheap molded plastic with simple metal handle), as such, that overhead cost can make a blip of loss to their net profits. And it makes no sense to have rush hour shoppers forced to use a cart, increasing congestion with the added space the carts take up.

And I've noticed their prices have skyrocketed on lots of staple items. Hormel lunch meat (8 oz)...$8. $16/lb for (non-organic) regular deli lunch meat? $5.80 for a standard size Smart Balance Light Mayo? $10 for a single (8 oz, I believe) serving pre-cut fresh salmon filet from the meat section? The same size chunk, cooked, deliciously seasoned and with a big portion of steamed broccoli in a relatively nice dining environment with wait service at Applebee's is only $6 more ($16). Trader Joe's (north end of town) has fresh salmon for what looks like around half the cost. Walmart has the same Hormel deli lunch meat, twice the size (16 oz.) for...$4. That's exactly 1/4th of what Safeway charges.

Most people know that Walmart's prices will beat most of the traditional supermarkets (Albertsons, King Sooper, Safeway, etc.), but Safeway's prices have increased the gap recently to what's probably an average of well over 50% savings on consumers' most popular items. And Walmart makes the very simple investment to have anti-theft detectors connected to the handbaskets (w/entry detectors of course). No excuses, and no hassle to the customer.

I think maybe I should thank Safeway for upsetting me to the point where I've now switched to Walmart and Trader Joe's on the majority of my regular shopping items. I just bought TJ's deli lunch meat (looks like unprocessed, unground-up and reformed) breast meat, i. E., much better than Hormel's too-thin cut chicken meat-like deli meat for $4.79 for 7 oz. Higher quality for nearly a 1/3rd less cost. And... TJ's always has tons of handbaskets.

Safeway appears to have succumbed to the big corporation greed that too often comes with it. Fortunately, stores like Trader Joe's maintain an easily noticeably higher standard of quality, TASTE (their products are healthier and taste better than the typical "equivalent" sold by any typical big corp supermarket) and lower prices... makes it easy to switch.

Title says it all. My groceries were supposed to be delivered between 3-4 pm. By 8:30, I had had enough waiting around and I cancelled the order. They inform me I have to wait 5 business days for a refund... I need that money now, to buy my groceries from someone else! Never again!

I have shopped at safeway for years and within the last couple years (2014-2016) I have noticed the price at the shelf is NOT the price you get at checkout. When I questioned if I was going to get the 'discount' the clerk was curt with me and a heavy sigh states "It will all come off at the end maam'. It never did. I got home and realized I paid $18 for sparkling water that was supposed to be 3/$12. The meat had additional coupons that were not scanned. The price on the shelf was not what I got. I thought maybe this was just a 'bad checker' so I returned a week later and even told the other clerk about the price problem. He assured me I would get the 'discount' and so I believed him. I get home and see I did not get any of the discounts. I called the store and they say "well, bring in your receipt and we will fix it'. I live 25 miles out of town, I won't remember to bring in the receipt 2 weeks later, The point is, please, get it right the first time, The way they scan your items, it's impossible to watch and see if you get the discount, I think Safeway corp. designs it this way so they can confuse you or make you feel like you are holding up the line if you question an item. I will not shop at safeway anymore,
