Terrible customer service

I wish I had read reviews before purchasing. I make most purchases on line and have never had an issue with any company until now. Rug arrived and the color was vastly different than pictured. Company was willing to take rug back but I would have to pay for shipping
(around $80). Girl on phone was arguing with me as to the color. I told her I would never have ordered a yellow rug! She said it looked yellow to her on line! Arguing with customers?!?! Told her the pad was not scheduled to arrive until tomorrow so to cancel the order. She said she couldn't do that and I would have to pay to have it shipped back as well. I ordered this small rug as an entry rug since winter is coming but am in the market for 2 over sized wool rugs but will certainly not be ordering from Rugs Direct. The pad is not a big deal because I will use it for whatever new rug I order somewhere else. STAY AWAY!

This was my first experience ordering a rug from Rugs Direct and it will definitely be my LAST. The color of the rug did NOT match the description nor the photo: and I sent photos to back this up and they DENIED paying the return shipping fee: which turned out to be $260! 1/2 of the purchase price of the rug: so we ended up keeping it and hope to sell it ourselves and recoup some of the money. WHAT A SCAM~~don't fall for it.

The return policy is misleading. I canceled the order before it was ever delivered and I was charged 400.00 for a rug that I paid 565.00.

The rug I received was very washed out - could hardly make out the pattern. Rugsdirect said that was normal and would not pay return shipping (rug is 9' X11').

Rugs Direct are a disingenuous, underhand, untrustworthy, unscrupulous, double-dealing company to deal with. Very deceitful. I ordered matching rugs in 2 sizes the week before Christmas, not a gift. There was no approximate shipping date, it wasn't till Christmas morning that i received an email that the larger rug was shipped. Then i received a seperate email telling me the smaller one was on backorder till the end of February. I decided to be patient and wait, only to find out after i inquired that its on backorder till April. Now i had the larger carpet over the return date and obviously can't be returned. What's deceiving is they wait till Christmas morning when you can't call anyone and tell me they shipped a carpet, yet the matching one is on backorder, why does it take a week to tell a customer its backorder. Most online companies, tell you immediately when choosing a product that its unavailable on backorder. If i was notified in a day or two i would of canceled the order and picked out another design. I was trapped. Can you believe that even this morning you can go back into the site and it still doesn't state that the carpet isn't available on backorder. Its a shame cause i can't imagine how many people this has happend to and the company just doesn't give a crap, it's like oh well.

The home trial is a total joke. It will cost you $$$$ if you need to return the rug. A 5x7 rug, that only weighed 25 lbs, cost me $79 to return via UPS ground due to the extra handling charges. I only paid $214 for the rug! Total rip-off. Shop somewhere else that has a better return policy.

The "30 day trial" is very misleading, nothing more than a return within 30 days at your expense policy. When I ordered I first asked what would it cost to return within the trial' period and was told probably over $100. Thinking it couldn't be too bad I ordered it. I think I should have ordered the next size up, so called to inquire about a return. Shipping will cost me $700! More than I pd for the rug! I'd highly recommend you shop brick and mortar, close to home!

I ordered a rug last week and panicked when I came here and read the reviews right after purchasing. I immediately sent an email to the company requesting info about when my rug would ship. I waited nervously for a response for nearly two days and planned to call and cancel my order and reorder from another site. I got an email at the end of the second day informing me that they'd spoken to the manufacturer and that my rug was about to ship. I received another email with tracking info the very next day and once shipped, my rug arrived in one day. There was a slip on the outside of my package that said "bill to Rugs Direct" so I think RD is just the middleman here. I'm not 100% happy with the way my rug actually looks, but it seems to be inaccurately pictured (and described!) on every single website that it is listed on. Overall, I'm satisfied and think that your Rugs Direct experience likely depends on the manufacturer and whether or not you're returning it.

Just a heads up for anyone looking at the Justina Blakeney Kahelo "black and grey" rug that looks black and white in photos- it is neither grey OR white. It's definitely a linen/ oatmeal color. Not bad, just not what I was expecting. Pictured with white copy paper for reference!

Ordered a rug, waited for shipping info that never came so rang to check - over several calls turns out it wouldnt ship for at least another 6 months - i was offered a 15% discount on any other in stock rugs - when I finally found one I liked that was actually in stock they then refused to give the discount because the rug was on clearance despite this rug being even more expensive than the rug I originally ordered. When I got angry for being further messed about I was met with attitude and arrogance. Nice.

Worst experience on line ever, simply misleading customers right and left. Their warranty, guarantee is an useless lie! I am glad i paid with PayPal, so i could get my money back through PayPal. Otherwise, i would've lost it! Believe me STAY AWAY. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER, HOUSE OF LIES!

I ordered a rug (Blue aqua Nourism) which is terrible and so cheap, but I found it on OVERSTOCK after ordering and when i called they said they couldn't give me lower price since the order was already made. I could have sent it back (and should have-it is falling apart after 3 weeks) but would have had to pay 150 to ship.

Ordered two matching different sized rugs for one room on Jan 6,2018. Received the smaller one two weeks later. Three weeks after ordering I received an email stating the second rug was on back order with an expected ship date of February 28,2018. On March 5,2018 I received another email now advising of an expected ship date of June 15,2018, which is six months after I placed the order. So I have one useless rug without the other and who the heck knows if I ever will receive the second one. I will never order from this company again.

So, if you want to order from this company be aware you will have no idea if and when your rug will arrive.

Bad communication
January 10, 2018

I bought a rug online with Rugs Direct and a few days later I received an email saying that it was backordered and would take 2 additional months to get the rug. I emailed them and spoke to someone telling them that I no longer wanted the rug. I then purchased the rug online from a different company. Then I received a phone call back from Rugs Direct telling me that the rug had already shipped. I explained that I ordered the rug from another company. If I want to return the rug to Rugs Direct, I have to pay for shipping! They will not give pay for the return shipping or give me a promo code for a future purchase! Nothing! I went to so much trouble with this situation! Also, extremely difficult to negotiate the site without having to look at so many rugs!

I saw some of the reviews about letting you order when they are not in stock. That's exactly what happened to me. I was told it would be out in about 3 weeks from the original order. That would have still got it to me in time for my Christmas company. Then less than 2 weeks before Christmas - 1 week after it was supposed to ship, they tell me it will be spring. Since I ordered 3 matching rugs and only rec'd 2, I was in a world of hurt. I'm returning the rugs (will dispute any charges posted to me). Ordered same rugs, in stock, costing less at Overstock. STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS!

I am shopping for an area rug and stopped in at a local carpet shop recently and received a quote. I emailed the company representative for the quotes on the rug and sizes I was interested in. And, I received the email in return with the pricing.

I then surfed the net to see if anyone had better pricing and what that pricing would be etc. I contacted Rugs Direct for a price quote and asking them about their price matching policy. Yes, they priced matched plus 10% so I wanted to be clear as to what that 10% represented. The customer service rep wanted a price verification which is standard business policy. I gladly forwarded the email I received from the local company with pricing clearly stated.

Their company rep emailed me back with and here is the quote: "Would it be at all possible to get a more formal quote. Unfortunately, I am unable to accept this. Not saying that you did or would alter the pricing...

The insulting insinuation that a customer would alter the price was appalling. Especially when it is so easily verified with a phone call.

The take-a-way result of a company not accepting email quotes is that I would conclude is that I would need verification of Rugs Direct on a company letterhead with their representative signing the quote.

Email quotes is standard business policy but I guess Rugs Direct really doesn't want to match pricing. Just a come-on. I would never trust an email from this company. They may come back on you and tell you that you altered it!

1. Rug texture did not look at all like the Web photo
2. Shipping to be free but a $6.95 handling fee was added
3. Rug size was 2 1/2" wider that stated on the site and on the rug's label.
4. Despite all this the return of the rug for credit was denied.
DO NOT BUY FROM THESE GUYS!

DO NOT EVER order a rug from this company if you intend to get it before the current season is over. I ordered my rug three MONTHS ago, and continued to follow up on its whereabouts every few weeks. Various customer service people outright lied, telling me I'd have it by "next Tuesday", etc. It finally arrived here late last week, but I'd already ordered another rug from Grandin Road which arrived four days later, that I've been enjoying for weeks.

Awful customer service. I order online and pay through PayPal and had the wrong shipping address. I called right away the next day to have my address changed, the customer service person on the phone was so rude I could not believe it. She was very antagonist and said she could not change the shipping address even though my rug didn't ship yet. I cancelled the order but never got a confirmation of cancellation.

As I read the reviews it appears there are many who had the same misfortune that I did doing business with this company. They are criminal in their business dealings.

I am a decorator and bought two rugs for a client. One called Stratton and when it arrived it had a fowl odor and ripples along the edge about a foot long. I assured the client that the odor would dissipate and that the ripples would settle in a week or so.

Two weeks passed and neither corrected itself. I had called prior to the purchase and asked about the return policy and was told that a credit to account would be given for returns. So I called company for a return slip. I was told to send a picture of the defect and an explanation and that they would get back to me in 48 hours. When they did get beck to me they said it was sent to a claims department and that their solution was for an additional purchase of a rug pad to hide the damage. WHAT? Of course that wasn't a solution so I said we would be sending the rug back and their response was that we had to pay for shipping to get their defected merchandise back to them in order for my client to get their refunded money credited to them their account.

It cost me as the hired decorator $156 to send this company their product back. And I am not on The clock to get the client a new rug to replace this defected one. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.
