What a lesson! Do not believe everything you hear
October 27, 2023

My mother and I stayed at the Grand Sunset Princess Resort in Mexico between May 15th and May 20th, 2023.

On our first day, we were offered a tour discount if we gave 90 minutes of our time to learn about an offer by Royal Holiday Club on the following day. We were told we would get a "free" breakfast and then they would explain to us what the offer was about. First of all, this is not true, since we had already paid for an all-inclusive package, therefore our breakfast was already paid by us. We attended our meeting on May 16th, 2023, had breakfast with a lady from the company and then went to their office with a gentleman who explained to us what Royal Holiday was about.

My mom and I said at least four times that we were not interested, but every time the salesman found ways to persuade us to become members. He offered us perks that were "supposed" to be given by the company for "free" and after five intense hours of listening, asking and answering questions, we gave in -BIG MISTAKE-.

The perks included:
-An entrance to a water park
-6 weeks of "free" accommodation for up to 6 people
-A $500 certificate to be used for purchases in hotels, we were told by the salesman that we could use it to buy an airplane ticket, but apparently this is not true
-An upgrade to the platinum area of the hotel. They gave us a room that had intense mold and humidity.
-Free reservations to the restaurants of the hotel (we already had free reservations)

We were then told to go sign our new contract. We spent close to an additional hour with another lady who explained the paperwork, she told us that we had up to five days to decline the offer, as stipulated on the contract and if we decided to do so, we would get our money back. She also told us that we could use the six weeks stated above all at once if we wanted to, as long as the days did not fall into the ones not offered by the certificate, this is also stated in the contract (clause number 10). Again... not true.

On May 18th, we went back to their office and told the salesman that we did not want the offer anymore, he said that they could not give us our money back because of the upgrade of the room, the tour, their commissions, etc. He said he had told us three times during our meeting, that the money would not be given back, however the lady with whom we signed the paperwork said differently. He also said he would give us a letter so we will not be charged anything else in the future. The letter was supposed to be given to us on May 19th, again. NOT TRUE.

We went back home, I contacted them about the letter and all they said is that the corporate office was aware, but nothing was yet been done. After a couple of days, the salesman opted not to answer my messages anymore.

I decided to place a formal complaint on BBB (Better Business Bureau), since the salesman said that Royal Holiday was BBB accredited... surprise, surprise... NOT TRUE. A very kind man from RH, called me, I explained the situation and after about a month of back and forth messages, my mother and I got our money back ($3175) THANK GOD!

This is definitely not an honest practice, they have played with our precious time, ruined our vacation, and unfortunately, this kind of stuff gives Mexico a very bad reputation. Wi-Fi is not accessible in the area where their office is located in the hotel, so people are unable to search the company online. This company has several complaints and it is still functioning.

I know this is our responsibility for not putting our limits, so yes, it was one of the biggest lessons of my life.

PLEASE BEWARE!

Royal Holiday bad experience
August 11, 2016

I was ripped off in the cruelest way possible, while I relaxed and confident on my vacation, I was invited to a presentation of "supposedly" 90 minutes which really lasted nearly 6 hours, at the beginning we did not want to buy anything, but for them seemed quite the opposite, like "if you tell us more, we are very interested in buying" finally tired we believed that our only way to get out is buying, as the seller told us: try it and if you dont want it you can quit at anytime with a refund back, obviously we believed them and as we were very tired and fed up or read anything we accepted. We decided to enjoy our vacation and returning home and with calm we could cancel the timeshare with no problem. To our bad luck when we called to cancel, they said it was impossible at the moment and they are not buying memberships.
My wife and I we cannot sleep thanks to the high stress of knowing that we had to pay all that money, the situation is becoming increasingly difficult. We searched and searched on the internet and all we found were complaints and more complaints against Royal Holiday. Finally we found a company called Mexican Timeshare Solutions, we feel confidence about them, everything I read on their website, that they work not only in Mexico but also in USA and they no charge until they cancelled the contract, was a strong point to believe in them. You could read: "Mexican Timeshare Solutions gave to me and my family the peace that we looking for, all the weight and stress its gone, just to leave everything in their hands as they have succeeded in the cancellation of my contract, Royal Holiday timeshare was not going to pay, my debt was 19,500 Americans DLS ($ 347,000 pesos approximately at that time), but with interest plus monthly maintenance charged by the holiday consortium and translated into Mexican pesos would skyrocket to nearly a million pesos for 10 years was within payment, even without considering that the dollar may continue increasing, would become an unpayable debt. " Luckily we were able to get out of this BIG problem, the purpose of my comment is to warn all those who are considering purchasing a timeshare or already have and hesitate whether to keep it, CANCEL IT! Timeshare field is the worst scam that may exist, the only thing they think about is to scrub in people no matter what the situation in which we find

Get away from ROYAL HOLIDAY AND THEIR TIMESHARES FRAUD!
