I had never purchased anything from this company before, but I took a chance on the Artisan Zagreb chess men and was not disappointed. I think the King is about 3 3/4" tall, the bases are a little wider than other sets I have, and they fit my 19" board perfectly. My board is black with pale-mahogany squares, and the Zagreb pieces look absolutely stunning on it! I was hoping they would come in a case, which they don't, but they were well protected for shipping as each piece was individually wrapped in packing and put in a sturdy box. I personally felt that they were worth the money, and this set is easily the nicest one that I now own.
I ordered a new chess set and paid the fees requested, not only was it late, there was a difference in the king sizing. Plus trying to get this resolved has been somewhat testing to say the least, just fobbed off every time I ask for an update. It's a shame as the sets are good but after care not so.
Beautiful handmade chess board! Very happy with the purchase. Very fast delivery and very well packaged.
Fast shipping. Relatively good value. Nice set. I think the photo shows a felt bag for the pieces which the set didn't come with but it's not overly important. The board is nice hardwood that might get damaged if you travel a lot with it do the whole set could do with a slip case but otherwise great set and delivery.
The chess set has arrived earlier than expected. It's having decent weight and nice finish.

I have bought with Royal Chess before, only last buy I got a chess board and it wasn't clear that it will only ship to the US, fortunately I have and address in the US other wise it would be a cancelation order that could turn in to a problem, I think Royal Chess mall have good products, good prices, good customer asistens, I would just recommend to make more visible when ther´s some restriction, other wise I'm happy with my experience at Royal Chess Mall

I would absolutely love the reproduction of the austrian chess figures BUT...!
They are beautifully done, the "antique" finish is also very well executed.
The only downside is that some of the figures are wiggeling because the weight was not placed deep enough into the figures -
This is sad, because it is the final step when manufacturing chess figures.
A little bit more time and concentration at the end and the figures would have been a clear 5 STAR rating.

I am in love with my historical reproduction of 1849 Staunton pattern chessmen. As an important note, I purchased this chess set in camel bone which is meant to replicate the feel and texture of Ivory.
The chess pieces are masterfully carved with the knight being the star of the show. The knight although is meant to be a reproduction of the Nathaniel cook design, but if looked closely, it would resemble more to the Staunton designs of 1850's and onwards.

These pieces are exactly the ones that i have been looking for. After long considering on many other sets, neither of them realy satisfied me, this set came along. I suddenly knew, this is the one. The antiqued boxwood is so nice and the Dubrovnik pieces have this special look. Overall this set is, in my opinion, the most successful copy of the 1950's Dubrovnik in shape and elegance ( particularly the knight, king and queen). Although the original set was unweighted, this set is heavy weighted, like modern tournament set in this range have to. Delivery lasts a week to ten 10 days to germany, with al little delay due to custom requirement. I bought it with an offer by 20 % off, thank you royalchessmall. But the customs in germany made it the origanal price for me. I am very happy to have these pieces, super quality, best craftmanship and well packed and arrived. 5 stars. I' m now wishing further much succes and i hope meet again for another chess experiece. Best wishes, Andreas.
