I have experienced 2 frustrating payment issues with this app. My client still hasn't been refunded her payment of over $800 after speaking with a "representative" over 10 days ago. In addition to this, I still have not received payment from a dog walking job I performed this Monday. The app states that your payment will be received 4 days after your job. If you're a pet sitter, avoid using this app.

I have been a sitter on Rover for a few months. My clients have tipped me and the tip is usually included in my payments. One of my clients left a generous tip (over $50) and the app kept all of it. It was included under "Rover fees". The app already takes $4 out of a sitter's rates. Really unethical. If you want to tip your sitter, use another payment method. Do not trust this app.

Just know that if your pet is injured during a pet sitting, walking,et cetera ROVer WILL NOT PAY as they advertise? Just had a dog sitter watch my small dog for thirty minutes And as a result of an accident, his only good eye was damaged.
I don't believe it really was the sitter's fault, however.
She indicated to me that she would report the incident to rover all within the 48 hour.they require. And I had over $900 in vet bills.
Yet rover refused to pay one dime because I did not contact them. They were given all receipts. Doctors notes everything they asked for promptly.
The corporate machine is working well for them.

I've used a few different sitters for dog boarding services. There are some sitters who do go above and beyond but the issue is that the majority are not going to give much care for your pet and therefore your pet's safety and health is being gambled on. I've had dog sitters return my dog with injuries from bites and scratches. Also I will provide clear details and nevertheless my instructions are ignored.

If you reach out to rover support then you might get a trivial credit amount so that you have to continue using their service and paying them money. I'd recommend befriending some neighbors and communicating with close friends to help watch your dog since you will at least know that they have empathy and compassion. Rover is just a greedy and heartless service.

My sitter is fine, however I have had problems with their all from the beginning. I have had Rover for two weeks. I have wasted hours trying to get them to fix the app so I can leave a tip, it's frozen. Rover's response has always bee giving me long instruction on how to trouble shoot. None of the instructions work.

I was babysitting a pitbull that I did meet and greet a guideline by rover she seem nice but apparently she did not like small dogs which the owner didn't specify to us as I was babysitting my friends dog, this pitbull, grab my friends dog and bit her on the neck. My mom and I had a fight, the pitbull to let it go took him to the vet and the bill was $1700 and Rover the sot one to reimburse me a penny. They are a horrible company they do not care for your dog they only care about making money. I do not recommend rover as they don't check peoples homes they do not know anything about the customer. They accept aggressive dogs and send them to your homes and if they injured a pet that is not a rubber customer they would not pay you for damages. It is a horrible company.

My dog (toy poodle) had his annual visit with his regular veterinarian exactly one week before he was dropped off for a six-night dog boarding in the home of a Theresa & Nicole, Rover.com sitters. His annual exam was normal and he was fine when I dropped him off. I received photos and updates during the course of his stay reflecting that he was fine. On the day I was returning home, the sitters messaged that my dog was randomly crying and whimpering due to no known cause other than he might miss me. I offered to pick him up when my flight landed, but was assured he was fine and picking him up in the morning was fine. I received another message upon landing that my dog was eating and drinking but he seems sad and in pain. The sitter did not know if he just missed me or if there is an underlying condition. Sitter stated that when he walks around the house it is slow and his feet sometimes slip out from him causing him to fall, then he yelps a bit. I informed them that I would pick him up that night.

When I arrived, the sitters were apologetic and offered to refund that night's stay. When I learned that due to my dog's behavior, he had missed his dose of medication for his joints, so I assumed that this was the source of his pain. I left carrying him to the vehicle and from the vehicle to my home. I did not realize the seriousness of my dog's condition until the following morning. He could not bear his weight and could not use his front left paw. I immediately called the Rover.com sitter, who then told me she thought he had hurt his paw from jumping, and I responded that this is information I should have been told to relay to his veterinarian. I then received a text from Rover.com that they opened a case with Rover for emergency treatment if needed. Later that day, my dog was seen by his veterinarian who concluded that my dog had a neck injury and although there was pain in his front left paw it was not broken. She concluded that his symptoms were due to an injury as this condition does not occur spontaneously. He was prescribed steroids and pain medication.

Rover denied the claim on the basis that this was a pre-existing condition, although the veterinarian's handwritten notes indicate otherwise. Rover advised that their decision could be appealed by submission of additional information directly from the veterinarian within 30 days. Before my veterinarian could submit the required documentation, Rover sent email informing me that although my claim was denied, that as a courtesy, they would give me a courtesy payment for the same amount that would have been paid if my claim was approved. This courtesy payment was contingent upon me signing a settlement release in which Rover does not assume fault, and prevents me from sharing what happened publicly which could harm Rover's reputation.

So why am I posting this review? My senior dog showed no improvement from treatment with steroids and pain medication. Six days after his injury, my veterinarian advised me that he would unlikely improve and since he was still eating, I need to keep him comfortable. However, if he does not eat for two days, that means it is his time…time to put him asleep to end his suffering. I provided around the clock care of my dog until he died exactly two weeks from the date, he was retrieved from Rover's dog boarder. The pain of losing him is unbearable at times as it feels like a loss of a family member. Instead of me being able to peacefully grieve this loss, I have received emails over the weekend from Rover informing me that I can no longer use Rover unless I agree to their updated terms of service, to include changes to their arbitration agreement. Rover does not want to be accountable for the injury that occurred while my dog was in the custody of their boarder. My dog taught me the meaning of unconditional love, and because of that love I am sharing my painful experience. I do not want any other pet owner to experience what I am going through right now; therefore, my silence can never be bought.

This was a terrible experience. I had 2 other 'iffy' experiences with other Rover sitters

My animals were distressed.
I explained to Rover in multiple emails to which they did not respond, the details of how i found my animals and my home. I also explained that i didn't want to leave a bad review for fear of retaliation and that Rover should interview other customers especially those that don't leave reviews.

I asked Rover several times using their directed emails *******@rover.com and *******@rover.com to learn how to leave a formal complaint describing what happened, I can't bear others' pets being vulnerable to this.

I don't believe Rover vets their sitters well and I also don't believe they have good control over their review system.
Thank goodness my time away was brief.

Maybe its my area but i worked so long to try to ge tthis bavkfround check just for the app to be lame and confusing. Many other services have cheaper background checks & a way easier platform for future walkers. If ur thinking/contemplating the background check this your sign TO NOT PAY FOR IT. People in the community here, recommend Rover. Not happy about it, but I gave it a chance. I looked for the most 5 star reviews, most repeat customers. The woman came to my house for an interview, she seemed genuine. I booked her for our may trip. Wanting to get her use to the dogs, I had her come two days later,to walk the dogs while we were out. When I got home, I checked the camera, I did tell her about the living room camera, and she had no problem with it. And the doorbell camera will always be on. As she comes in, Murphy grabbed a toy to meet her, which he has not done for months, because he has been sick, pneumonia and collapsed trachea, I was so excited to see this, two wiggle butts were so excited. They love people.
They both run to her, she completely ignores them. No pets. No hello. She struggles to figure out the basic harness. Tells Grace to get out of her way, she took Murphy toy away and threw it across the room and telling him he better not scratch her. I paid 44.00 for two half hour walks.
She does not put Murphys cooling vest on, which I was very adamant about. Also hand washing. No vest. She walks Murphy for 9 minutes. Comes back gets Grace, she's yelling at Grace to hold still. She was happy butt wiggling. She walks grace for 7 minutes. She is talking on the phone, locks the door, but Grace is still outside the door connected to the leash. When She takes the harnesses off, she throws them on the floor. Before she leaves she throws them on the couch. Does not hang them where she got them. Both dogs go into our spare room. They don't even attempt to go to her for pets.
Which is extremely unusual. Because Grace loves people, and has always wiggled in for pets, comfort. She sits on the couch. I hear her say, look at all this $#*!. Referring to my husbands BP machine and stuff as he has terminal cancer, book, tissue box. She sits there, no dogs. Watching her watch. On her phone.
She takes her fanny pack off, hat sunglasses. Goes into my room, the dogs are still in spare room, I assume she is going to the bathroom. If she just wanted to wash her hands, the sink is right there in the couch area
Because I'm mental, before we leave I take down all the towels. Hand towels, area rugs. I left three folded paper towels in bathroom. Toilet not flushed. No towels were used. She never washed her hands. All this time, she has not interacted with the dogs AT ALL. Does not address them, pet them. They were completely ignored. She waits the full hour and
Goes to the door of the spare bedroom, takes a picture sends it to me and says everything went great. I left a note, with dog treats on the counter, as soon as you come in. With reminder of Murphys vest. No vest no treats were given. She doesn't say goodbye, walks out leaves. At the interview, she went on about how long she's been doing this. Grace sat next to her, petting her, petting Murphy, talking to them.also, I was surprised to see a 70 year old woman, her profile was probably taken 7-8 years ago.
I was so disappointed and I felt worse for M and G.

I booked an appointment for a meet and greet today, and the dog walker came and met my cat and dog. He was a bit cold, but nothing was seriously wrong. But five minutes after he left he sent a message that he couldn't take care of my pets. Now I have to scramble to find someone else. What if he left while I was away? You can't count on a substitute because you book with one individual. My pets would have died.

She's incompetent and unstable! She kept my dog for 5 days, the 4th night she called me while on vacation to let me know my dog was attacked and his back was scratched by another small dog she accepted to sit. On the 5th day I was 1 hour late responding to her email about picking up my dog ( I was still in flight), by the time I responded she informed me she had already taken my dog that she's been sitting for 5 days— to the local animal SHELTER because of an appointment she had. She also stated Rover told her it was ok to do so.This person would not tell me where my dog was told me to leave her alone and contact Rover?!? I had to continue driving and calling and finally found my dog. The clerks there said she ran in frantic said she found this dog at Academy in the parking lot and ran back out. My dog has been traumatized by this woman, shaking, panting, very anxious when we picked him up… from the shelter! I spoke with Rover reps they were great taking the info etc and sympathetic but I want something done that will impact this sitter because this is unheard of.Reputation precedes everything so I'm letting who ever will listen know about Elidett Molina in Texas who refused to return my dogs bed, blanket etc until I got a police escort to make her open the door. Coward… and have the nerves to pet sit

I listed my dogs' behaviors and characteristics in their profile and explained to the dog sitters the specifics about my dogs' situations before booking the dates. They also met with the dogs twice before the boarding. Afterwards they went online and wrote stuff about the dogs that I had already explained - if they didn't want to take on the dogs and handle their situations, they should not have agreed to board them. Then Rover refused to take down their comments. I already paid a lot of money for the sitters, so this isn't right. Plus, Rover's site is not very user-friendly, they have a lot of technology issues and tech glitches. Sitters show up in areas that aren't near where you are located. Also, Rover does not have a phone number, so there's no way to contact them if you have a question. You're better off leaving your pets with friends of family if you can.

My sitter let me down once telling me she was going to be four hours late and expected me to find a replacement when I was at work driving a bus. Then she failed to show or message one night and my dog was left alone for 10 hours. She made some terrible excuse and when I told her I was going to find someone else she kicked up a fuss like she had done nothing wrong and she refused to return my key. I had to change all my door locks and Rover didn't give a crap.

We're looking for a sitter for one week for our multicat household. Rover advertised matching sitters close to the pet parents' location so it seemed like it was worth checking out. Found someone who seemed to be a good fit and contacted her. I was very upfront in my original message to her about how many cats we have and that even though Rover requires a specific time be entered for a visit, we were very flexible as long as the visits were daily. I explained that while we have a lot of cats, they're all up to date on vaccinations, we have a vet who does home visits, and that most of them would hide so she'd only see a few.

The person responded right away, said she loved cats and would like to meet with us and meet the cats. I responded with our availability. Then she suddenly started hedging. Said she didn't realize how far away we were from her work even though she lived nearby and couldn't visit during the time we requested. I responded, again, that I plugged in a random time and she was welcome to visit in the evenings or whenever worked best and that we were very close to the area she said she lived.

She responded again and said while she realized we had a lot of cats, she usually charges per cat (which was not listed in her profile or in her first response) and could I enter the information on the cats she'd be likely to see.

I responded with a description of the one definite she'd see and the three maybes but said I sensed something had changed since she responded the first time and that I had been very upfront about the number of cats we have. She replied, "Yeah, sorry, have a good night."
So completely unprofessional. How she has a five-star rating is beyond me. Except apparently all Rover pet sitters have five-star ratings. Now I can't even delete my account because I have a "pending request" with someone who has no interest in sitting for our cats. Run far, far away from this site. I think we dodged a bullet. I complained to the company when I finally found out how to contact them (spoiler alert, it wasn't from their website; I had to Google.) but I expect nothing. Use them at your own risk. My cats deserve better. So do yours.

Placed a booking in March 2024. Had to cancel due to accident in which I suffered facial fracture and mild concussion. When I first placed my booking it was $554 for 7 days, with only 3 drop ins per day. I edited my booking to around $240. But Rover did not edit my withdrawal as I had asked them to. They instead withdrew the $554. So when I canceled my booking due to accident (which was the day before booking). I sent pics and reason for late cancellation to my sitter (Amy E) and Rover. So my sitter kept almost half of my refund. And her fefund policy did not define the amount she would deduct or if it was an emergency! Rover did not back me up or try to understand my side of issue. They do NOT support the owners, only sitters! Do Not Recommend!

Tip for consumers:
Refund policy’s are NOT well defined. Especially the sitters policy. I feel the sitters have control of our payment and refund. Not the company Rover

My dog walker is fantastic, but everything goes through their 4th class web site. I constantly have problems logging-in. Resetting the password is impossible because the link sent to my e-Mail never works. The only way to contact Rover is to sign-in. It's like a dog chasing its tail. Ironically, I was just trying to sign-in to contact my dog walker to add a third day each week, which is more money for Rover. Clearly, Rover doesn't want to make money. While I want to support the service providers, Rover is not the means to hire them. Goodbye, Rover, I'll hire another dog walker from another web site. You lose!

Two times in the past 4 years I have tried to use Rover with 2 different dogs and both times have been stranded 2 days prior to needing them. Both times I did the meet and greet with my dog at their home and both times they convinced me to pay them directly so that Rover would not get a part of it, which I did, Well yesterday I got a text from Emilie R that she was canceling for Tuesday, I was shocked and left with no options with such short notice. I called Rover and they were of no help and didn't really seem concerned, said the sitter has this option. NEVER AGAIN will i use Rover.
