Leaving for an Antartica expedition in 4 weeks and still don't have final packet with instructions. Have been getting conflicting info since we booked. This last call to ask about final packet took forever to get a response which was vague and unhelpful about when we would have materials, including what we need to bring. Completely unresponsive to our requests for medically necessary adjustments to accommodations and ignored our airplane seating requests. Do not seem to have any interest in customer satisfaction once they have your payment. Hope the tour itself will be better. It is handled by a subcontractor (Albatross) who has been responsive. This is our third booking with Road Scholar and are surprised and disappointed so far.

“Changing the way I vacation”

We've been looking for new places to travel to, but didn't really know where to begin. We heard of roadscholar and searched it out online. What a great service! I love that they take you to places and plan the trip for you, including fun physical activities as well as sightseeing and cultural learning adventures. We traveled with some great people on our trip to Scotland which made the whole vacation that much better. It was amazing and we can't wait to book our next trip!

It takes long go find what I am asking for. Last time I used it, I was much quicker. And, the trips were not as easy to find. Your site kept giving me different trips to Canada.

“I continue to have trouble signing into my account...”

I continue to have trouble signing into my account with my password. Wanted to enroll by phone but wait time is "a couple of hours". When I signed in with my email my husband's name came up, which didn't include other trips of ours or my own previous solo trip. I worked with someone a while ago to consolidate information, ID the account into my name, and thought it had been fixed.

“You've changed the website and password process”

You've changed the website and password process. I had to set that up again.
Then its confusing when returning after setting the new password. It looks like you have to repeat the process.

Once you change your password, please delete the previously stored one from your "keychain". Passwords are reset only once, next time you log in, you should simply enter the e-mail address and new password.

Website is slow to load, can't see all trips at once; many trips appear twice. When return to list after clicking on a possible trip, trips are not in the same order. Enrollment is easy, once one finds a trip!

“I selected Double accommodation for a program only...”

I selected Double accommodation for a program only to be told such accommodation was not available for the dates selected during checkout.
Many layers to navigate through to complete enrollment.
I was unable to print out the cancellation and transfer fee page for future reference.

We need more information to determine what happened but sometimes we have only 1 double space available (for a solo traveler) an if you try to enroll 2 participants, the enrollment will not go through.

The cancellation/transfer policy is available on the website under 'Dates and Prices" tab and it is always included in the registration e-mail.

Yes, I took my granddaughter at 16 on a Road Scholar trip to Italy and we enjoyed a great time. So the following year I took her to Paris and once again we enjoyed a great trip. I am shocked by bad reviews when we had such a great educational time.

Answer:

Yes, we do work with various local restaurants and have a preset menu arranged that is either plated or provided buffet style. On our website we provide a sample daily itinerary for each adventure. There you can see where each meal will take place, if it is at the hotel, a local restaurant or a boxed lunch.

If your mom is active and enjoys walking, she should enjoy a Keep the Pace program. The program's daily itinerary can be found on the Road Scholar website. My most memorable guided trips were with Road Scholar (e.g., Iditarod Dog Sled Race in Alaska; snorkeling, kayaking, hiking in Puerto Rico; Behind the Scenes at Disney World in Florida). But the worst were also with RS (possibly since it started contracting out trips to "providers"?). Unfortunately, I don't know who writes the information given to us participants: RS or the provider? And, if RS, does the provider get to approve it for factual accuracy? My suggestions: 1) check and double check the stated activity level for the RS trip, 2) look out for factual discrepancies in pre-trip written communications, 3) even be prepared to contact RS DURING YOUR TRIP with any egregious shocking appalling complaint, and 4) research other travel companies that might offer the same trip.
