“That's what i needed”

Modernity is something that I adore with all my heart. You know all these new fancy devices, smart homes this is my passion, for real. When I was making a small refurbishment at home, I decided to pay attention to my old doorbell, and made pu my mind about replacing it with something way more contemporary. This is how I faced this firm and they have helped me to make my dream come true. Battery video doorbell is something that I really needed back in the day... I'm thankful!

“Transfer service.”

Nanette S.

Have ring for 5 yrs. I am a shared user and my husband was manage user. My husband passed. Takes 15 days to transfer to my name as owner. NO EXCEPTIONS. Wanted me to provide a notary (?), death certificate, and a power of attorney. Tried to educate them on some things,, but all they did was read from a script. Horrible customer service. In the meantime, no doorbell or video and shopping for other companies.

My Ring doorbell and cameras are strictly for outdoor use so I can see and record anyone coming onto my property. I love most everything about the cameras except for the fact that they're about as reliable 1992 dial up internet service. My doorbell especially only records 50% of the time on a good day. Customer service doesn't really help. The department that DOES help doesn't seem to know much and last time made me take the doorbell off, delete the ring app from my phone, restart my phone, reinstall the ring app, then set it up again. Didn't work. A month later still the same problem.

The video quality is nice but going backward is ridiculous. I used to be able to view my videos on my computer but now they don't go back more than two hours. I tried different browsers and same thing. Called tech support to see if my plan changed and was told I had to view them on my phone. Went to my phone and it took 5 minutes to scroll down a list to try to get to 4/2/20. Found 4/20 and picked one to view. When done viewing that video it kicked me back at the beginning and not on 4/20, What good is a camera if you can't view videos when you need them. Argh.

Sitting around my house it takes forever to load and I am at home by my wifi and sometimes won't let me view and says more info or ok. Was out of town for a family emergency and my ring doorbell didn't work wouldn't open wouldn't let me live view nothing, good thing my house didn't get robbed. I've heard this company Customer Service Sucks so I guess writing a bad review is the only compensation.

The hardware for set-up of the phone, and also for setting up the angled mount (only $14 extra), was first class, and it only took a few minutes to have that in place. Then it took several hours of frustration to have it workingmy wife began to connect to it with her I-phone, and had to discontinue, but it gave me no message that this would prevent me from connecting when I tried to connect my Samsung phone, just endless attempts to connect that failed (and that was after 5 attempts to download the App before the downloading worked.) When finally we solved these problems and got it working, the picture was OK, but there were seconds of delay, and worse, the person at the door could not hear anything but a faint and broken up voice that was impossible to understand. It seems as though the server is just too far away from Toronto for this to work as advertised.

Set up Ring alarm which works Ok. Limited connectivity with non-Ring products and inability to set auto on/off in "home" (stay) mode at night. Not compatible with IFTTT.

Base station beeps upon entry to let potential thieves know where it is and smash/disconnect it so it's useless after that.

Ordered additional sirens. Never shipped even though emails said it had. Customer service told me to keep waiting. Tracking on their own website said it was still in warehouse. Emails ignored. Called again and told they "escalated" my case. Still nothing. Finally called and insisted on refund. Whole saga took about a month to get my $ back. Terrible customer service! Stay away from Ring. There are alternatives!

Something fishy going on. Cameras can never show time of incident? On any camera that particular time is missing? (Wish I could show video how time is completely skipped over not on one camera but all of them (2) Said videos are kept at least 30 days yet on 9/14 can only go back to 8/31? If you question them they block you? Don't bother calling the police…they are the police. (3) Cameras never show mailman when he steps on my property (even though my property is well in view of my camera) but only when he gets to the mailbox. Things missing after you come back from vacation…no camera footage.

Tip for consumers:
I think people do not share because nothing is usually done. But when is enough

Ordered a solar panel 5 days ago and never got shipping notification. When I got a hold of a human (chat) they apologized for the shipping department not notifying me these were out of stock. I asked to just cancel my order. Chat told me they cannot cancel my order until there is tracking information... and I 'should' get an email with my tracking information in 1-3 business days. Really? I did not get the first email, why would I get this email? I assume this email (if I get it) will be to let me know this is out of stock and they will (supposedly) email me when it ships. So I have to waste hours and track their incompetency to cancel my order.

Just had a really long conversation with Ring customer service, absolutely nightmare I spend an hour explaining that I have a black screen for two days it was working fine from March 2023 and the lady keep telling me that the problem it with my internet and she is unsure why my ring it's working from beginning with my internet speed. She didn't wanted me to connect me to manager I know my rights, keep saying she will say the same thing. I finally spoke to manager she have helped me within 5 minutes. At the end manager have told me they have added some privacy zones to my camera by mistake that's why I had it all black for 3 days. Very not satisfied with customer service they have there.

The Ring doorbell pro looks good and is a great idea but the quality of the product is underwhelming to say the least. With-in a year the plastic doorbell button fails. It cracks due to use and I assume heat from the sun. I live in Northern California and my door faces West. I reached out to the manufacture and the help desk is pleasant but spare parts are not sold. They simply direct me to purchase a new unit. I would hate to have to buy a new unit every 12-15 months. Clearly the Ring team needs to better test the environmental impact on their products and improve the durability. There is ever increasing compaction out there now. I recommend shopping around before buying a Ring.

Ring app will not fully download and customer service unable to resolve. Their response, "We're working on a fix." It's been weeks and no follow-up as promised. (Originally promised 24-48 hours)

Long story short, I used to love Ring products and services, but they no longer seem to care. I own multiple cameras, and I am, for now, stuck with them

Advise: Research alternatives if you are considering. Ring is terrible from a customer support perspective.

I bought a RING system to provide security at a construction site where I am remodeling a house in a sketchy neighborhood. I have 3 cameras: front, inside and rear, plus a Chime extender. At first, all cameras functioned correctly; i. E., I received the selected alert tones, was able to establish live view, and could also leave my PC connection open and monitor all activity at the construction site.

Several months ago I stopped receiving any alerts and the live view stopped functioning. After many hours with tech support, I still received no alerts and live view no longer functioned. Moreover, RING recently instituted a 2FA (2-factor authorization) arrangement. Now, before I can log in, I must wait to receive an email verification code. My PC application logs out by itself every few minutes, so each time I want to see my construcion site I have to wait for another email. In summary, RING no longer serves the monitoring function for which I purchased it; no longer sends motion alerts, no longer provides live view and no longer permits PC monitoring. A disaster in every respect.

Today 02/27/2020, after another 59 minute phone call, "Neil" from RING Leadership ageed to provide a pre-paid return label and refund my equipment upon receipt.

As a software developer and technical writer for several Fortune 100 companies over a 20 year career, I would suggest that the resources responsible for the recent changes in system architecture and UAT be dismissed or reassigned. In order to address the security issues, which probably affected only a few users, the usefulness (and marketability) of their product was totally destroyed.

Tip for consumers:
For what it's worth, alerts can be restored temporarily by turning off your bluetooth service. But they stop again shortly after you turn it on again.

The Ring Alarm Security Control Center provides a most excellent service. My review concerns Ring Customer Support. I had a general question concerning the operation of one of their devices, of which I could not find the answer anywhere on their extensive website. I called their customer support number, and selected the pertinent department to speak with. Surprisingly, it didn't take very long to get through the recordings to reach a live rep, although my call was mis-directed. I was connected to the chimes and doorbell department which was not the department I had selected. I explained to the rep my question, of which she could not answer because she was strictly chimes and doorbells, but she was more than willing to transfer me to the correct department — as soon as I could grant her temporary authorization to access my account. I reiterated my question stating it was not an account matter — it was a general question concerning a specific device. She stated she could not even transfer me to the correct department until completing the temporary authorization. That is the moment the fun began and I proceeded as it was my contention this rep was merely acting in accordance with the instructions as set forth for her. I verbally gave her temporary authorization, on this recorded line, but that wasn't good enough. First, after spelling out my email address for her, she sent me an email to grant temporary authorization. Amazon was unable at that time to complete the request. She then texted me a link for temporary authorization and again, Amazon was unable to complete the request at that time. She then verified all my personal information — but that still wasn't good enough. She then wanted the mac address of my ring base station, both Ethernet and WiFi. We didn't make it past that point as I had finally had enough and stated if I could not get an answer to a general question, I was done talking to her. I ended the call. Up to that point I had been patient, understanding and polite. These companies record their calls for their own protection; yet, they provoke their customers to frustration with all the hoops they're having them jump through. Now, I understand the need for security, especially when speaking of personal home alarm systems, but this company took it to an extreme in which nothing but a general question was being asked. I didn't get my question answered and am now wondering if signing over my first born would have been the rep's next demand. I won't be ordering any more add on devices to my system as I had originally planned, for I am afraid that even my first born would not be enough to satisfy this company's need to have a general question answered. It came as no surprise to me that this company is not BBB Accredited. Consumers should take note and heed of that fact, along with all the negative reviews concerning this company's customer support that are plastered across the internet. It does no good to purchase a Ring product, when that is where the support ends.

I purchased the ring with Solar power so I could have consistent power without paying to have it wired. Unfortunately, the battery would drain while I was out of town. The agent stated that if I had it in live view, it would drain even with the solar addition. It was even draining in the winter once I had it installed with my electric source.
Multiple delays when motion is alerted and I cannot talk immediately. Sometimes it does not record movement. It is not as efficient as advertised. I am adding other systems to offset this.

In my opinion this is unfair. Ring app always crashes. PERIOD. I have about 10 cameras and the price was fair but reliability is a joke. All of a sudden your dogs are going crazy., you sign in... Crash. It's not my phone. There is a reason there is so many used on ebay. Please step up.

I have a ring doorbell with solar battery. The battery stopped working and ring operator told me they'd replace it at no charge. That was in Sept 2022. In Oct 2022 I had not received it and called to check on the order; I was told it is out of stock and would ship in two weeks. Today is 11 January 2023; I called and was told it is still out of stock. I told them Amazon has had it throughout this period. No further info from them. I will stay out of Ring products.

I have a Ring doorbell and a spotlight cam with solar "charger". First off, the solar "charger" is a joke - I was told it would charge the camera and keep batteries charged -- NOPE! Then they tell me the battery is draining because I have "too much movement" on the camera. Oh ok. Doorbell is so delayed and sometimes doesn't notify at all. It will catch a car driving by the house, but won't catch someone walking up my driveway and standing at my door! Customer service blamed my wifi, which I know is not true. Customer service also picks and chooses what emails they reply to. I am now looking into what to replace my Ring devices with. Anything has to be better!

Paid over 200$ for this camera and it only lasted about 2 years, first of all, they never tell you that, you need to have very fast and long range internet to connect to it. I ended up having to buy a Wifi extender, that did not help very much at all. Whenever you got an alert on your phone and tried to view it by calling up the app to see what was going on. By the time you got connected whatever caused it was long gone. So there was no chance of me speaking to them through the camera like they do so easily in their commercials, and lastly they also never mention that, the camera can't be placed in directly sun light, which is crazy because if you are outdoors eventually at some point you will probably get direct sun light. But because of that, the picture seen from the camera turned a green tint. So to conclude I will never buy another one again, and if it hadn't been for having it for 2 years already, I would have tried to return it.

Had a major issue today and needed to retrieve the video/can't because their is a major issue with people being able to log into their accounts. The service is constantly down, you go to view something just to find out that it is not available because of one issue after another.: Purchased a $20.00 cameras for indoors, it is cheaper a month and I do not have issues with retrieving footage. My husband paid over $100 for this Ring Doorbell. DO NOT PURCHASE

I bought my ring for peace of mind while we were in Florida, but the device is driving me crazy. Constant false alarms, buzz buzz, there is someone at your door. This happens day and night, maybe ten or more times a day. Never a picture or video and when I check history there is nobody.
Rang ring 3 times no help whatsoever, the first lady said she couldn't help me and the last guy said he would check something and call back in a few minutes, still waiting two days later

Pros:
Provide distance surveillance sometimes

Cons:
- Bad cameras resolution - even unable to see car license plate etc
- Unable to operate cameras online (turning, changing view angle etc)
- Cameras often loosing connection (no video, no audio etc) and Ring will blame customers (you) in that and affirm that they equipment working fine;
- Ring app still in betta version and won't be improving further (basic required features are not implemented, bad user experience, buggy app, user interface and features are very different in comp and android app etc).
- Only 1 person can acquire admin rights in household - second spouse can't have admin rights and control cameras - feels like Ring think that one of the spouses are not smart enough to have admin rights for cameras.
- No admin settings are available on the laptop app - why such limitation and cut customer rights?

Nice idea and sometimes it works. Most of the time it is so delayed, there is not much point. And now they are charging Canadians $50.00 as it was $30 and still is for USA. Even with exchange that is $39.91. Why are they overcharging by $10 for a service that is... questionable

I lost my Ring Doorbell connection while overseas. After trying different FAQs suggestions, still no connection. Tried reinstall app as per FAQs, after new install unable to access it as needed verification code. Verification code sent to mobile but due to sim change unable to recieve as sent to UK sim. Spoke to Ring help agent's x 2. Wanted utility bills showing UK address. Tried showing, passport, driver's licence and medication details, all with address UK shown. Not accepted, utility bill only. Ask for verification code over phone, can't be done. I am paying a 1 year subscription for security that does not exists. Advice for Ring, don't touch them. I will be away from my home on the other side of the world and no security
