Why Revolut Are One of the Largest Targets for Scammers
April 26, 2025

If you're considering Revolut, please think twice. Revolut has been named by BBC Panorama (2024) as one of the biggest targets for fraud and scams among major banking apps.
The BBC investigation revealed that over 40% of fraud linked to digital banks involved Revolut — significantly higher than major banks like Barclays or HSBC. Here's why Revolut has become a scammer's dream: * Revolut heavily relies on 3D Secure (3DS) authentication, but refuses to properly investigate fraud cases even when customers report deception or manipulation.
* When fraud occurs, Revolut misuses 3DS as an excuse not to reimburse victims — despite their legal obligations under UK Payment Services Regulations 2017.
* Complaints processes are broken — the in-app complaint link was non-functional, and escalation was impossible without formally filing with the Financial Ombudsman and FCA.
* Account freezes without notice: after reporting fraud, Revolut froze our account and cards without providing any formal explanation or timeline for access. Our personal experience:
* We lost nearly £6,000 after a scammer impersonating Revolut Business Support manipulated us into approving payments under false pretences.
* We reported the fraud to Revolut within 20 minutes.
* Revolut refused to investigate properly, citing 3DS authentication, despite clear evidence of deception.
* Both merchants involved confirmed they were willing to refund — Revolut ignored this.
* We had to escalate the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service and report Revolut to the FCA (Case Ref: *******) just to get the case properly reviewed. The bottom line? 🔴 Revolut does not adequately protect its customers.
When you need help the most — after being scammed — they leave you fighting alone. Just Google Revolut and scams…. Be extremely cautious.
For serious banking needs, especially business accounts, Revolut simply does not meet the minimum standards expected under UK financial regulation or basic customer care. Disclaimer:
This review reflects my genuine personal experience and honest opinion based on documented evidence, including support correspondence, transaction records, merchant communications, and public reporting (BBC Panorama, 2024). All statements are made in good faith and supported by contemporaneous records. FCA Case Reference: *******. Financial Ombudsman Complaint filed.

🚨 WARNING: Revolut Allows UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES & REFUSES Refunds – A GLOBAL SCAM

🚨 WARNING: Revolut Allows UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES & REFUSES Refunds – A GLOBAL SCAM

I have been a Revolut customer for years, even paying for their Ultra plan (€540/year). But when Revolut allowed UNAUTHORIZED charges on my account, they refused to investigate and denied my chargeback within HOURS—proving they are running a financial scam.

📌 How Revolut Scams Customers:

Processes unauthorized transactions, even when there's "Insufficient Balance."
Denies chargebacks instantly with NO real investigation.
Refuses to respond to complaints or provide a real resolution.
Uses jurisdiction loopholes to avoid refunding customers.
Ignores regulators across the USA, UK, EU, and Lithuania.

📌 The Scam in My Case:

🚨 August 21 & 23,2024: Revolut ALLOWED UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES from Avis Rent-a-Car, despite my account having insufficient funds.
🚨 August 30,2024: I disputed the charges. Revolut denied my chargeback on the same day—without reviewing the case.
🚨 January 2025: Revolut changed their excuse, falsely claiming the chargeback deadline had expired.
🚨 February 2025: After escalating to multiple regulators, Revolut is STILL refusing to take responsibility.

🚨 I Complained to EVERY Authority – Revolut is PROTECTED by Jurisdiction Scams!

I have escalated my case to the following regulatory agencies and consumer protection bodies across multiple jurisdictions:

USA:
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) – [Filed]
New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) – [Filed]
Better Business Bureau (BBB) – [Filed]
U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) – [Filed]
U.S. Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) – [Filed]

United Kingdom:
UK Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) – Denied jurisdiction due to Revolut's loopholes

European Union:
European Consumer Centre (ECC-Net) – [Filed]
European Commission Consumer Protection Office – [Filed]
European Ombudsman – [Filed]
European Central Bank (ECB) – Financial Misconduct Reporting – [Filed]
European Parliament Petitions Committee (PETI) – [Filed]

Lithuania (Revolut's regulator):
Bank of Lithuania – BLOCKED my complaint with technicalities & ignored it I followed all submission guidelines and provided every required document.
I SIGNED my complaint electronically—but they claimed my signature was "not valid" without explaining why.
When I re-submitted the complaint with a physical signature, they rejected it AGAIN for another so-called technicality.
They are clearly making up obstacles to PROTECT Revolut instead of enforcing consumer protection laws.

🚨 Revolut's Playbook for Scamming Customers:

1 Register in Lithuania so the UK Financial Ombudsman and EU regulators can't touch them.
2 Operate in the USA & UK but claim "no jurisdiction" when you file a complaint.
3 Take customers' money, refuse refunds, and deny chargebacks without investigation.
4 Ignore every regulatory body, counting on people giving up.

🚨 If you bank with Revolut, BE WARNED: When they steal your money, you will have NO legal protection.

I will continue exposing this financial scam through all legal and media channels. If you've also been scammed by Revolut, FILE COMPLAINTS & SHARE YOUR STORY.

Hackers used Revolut to empty my bank
April 16, 2021

On the first of April 2021 my Revoult card, app and account had not been unused in a year. There was £350 on my card. That morning with my phone in my hand and my card locked in a draw someone somewhere changed my pin. They then emptied my bank account into my Revoult account, then in one hour they pulled £6000 from various currency exchanges and cash withdrawals. My Bank spotted it and called me and I rushed to the Revolut app but they had changed my pin, no way in and no way to contact Revoult. I begged the assistant on their FB page to call someone, just to cancel my card at least but he would not.

They had hacked my email, forwarded one mail to themselves and that was all they needed, no card, no pin, no password. The string of physically impossible withdrawals my Bank saw in minutes and stopped on their end Revoult never spotted and my card remained active and my account working until a day and a half later when I convinced them to shut it all down. Despite two assistants being told in full what was happening in that time.

The attack came from inside the Revolut app. It wasn't just the pin. Even when I reset the password, did a selfy check, reinstalled the app. The app just went into loops until ultimately it was a black screen, and the only thing that the app had done since spring of 2020 was the update, the app requested the update and the update was from inside the app.

When I did regain access to the app the next day I spent hours explaining to them. They seemed reluctant to believe it had even happened. Eventually, they accepted that it was fraud and shut the app and card down to a blue screen saying they are looking into it with a chat option.

The attempted withdrawals started again about a week after the attack, I tried to tell Revolut on chat but their assistants, one after another ignored what I said and talked non sequitur gibberish. Taking sometimes half an hour, sometimes next day to give the same cut and paste answers over and over again to question I was not asking, ending with "goodbye" and "rate this chat".

12 days after the attack. Now it's just a blue screen saying "we need some more information". Chat says they don't need any information. I've no access to the money in their account until they open shop again.

15 days after the attack I received two android notifications from Revoult. The first that the top-up was attempted again. The second saying, "Your account has been deactivated. After reviewing your details, we're sorry to say that we're no longer able to offer you our services and we've made this decision to permanently close your account"
The Revolut app is still a blue screen saying "we need some more information." But no one answers the chat anymore. I guess that's it.

In the end, the Revoult card was direct access to my bank account, they could never have gotten past my bank's security and into my account without it. Thank god I only had the one card linked to it and only £350 on the Revolult account itself. My bank stopped most of the money going out, cancelling the card before the hour was up and the next day refunded the £2700 they were too late to stop.

I put this here as a warning. I met a young Australian girl recently that said she had Revoult as her primary account, all her savings were on there. This was a nightmare, an attack that came from inside their app and almost took everything from me. Their response was silence for over two weeks then to permanently close my account taking my money and leaving no way to ever even contact them again.

Open an account and customer suport
March 31, 2021

I opened a company and as such, I needed to open a bank account. After seeing sites advising Revolut as an ideal bank for small and medium-sized businesses with no maintenance costs, decide to open a business account with Revolut.

I filled in all the requested fields and in the field to prove the nature of the business, it appeared as the first option to attach a customer invoice and the bank statement to prove that the company had received this money. The company was just created and had no other bank account, so that option was out of the question, so I opted for the next option that asked to attach an invoice from a supplier, I attached 5 invoices from suppliers and I also attached the Commercial Certificate of the company because, in addition to being the official document of the companies operating in Portugal, it mentions all the activities that the company is legally qualified to practice and the respective CAE's.

To my great amazement, this documentation was refused and they again asked for a customer invoice with the respective bank statement.

I contacted Customer Support, Mr. Nomi, and 3 times I explained that it was a new company and that I had no other bank account but he keep asking for the bank statement. It was clear that he did not even bother to read what I was writing, probably busy with other things, and continued to automatically repeat the same requests ignoring the answers.

Even when I asked why they refused the invoices from suppliers when the site presents as an option to prove the nature of the business, I was completely ignored and I was not even entitled to an answer. And that's how customer service ended, with me asking questions and Nomi completely ignoring what I was asking.

More seriously, the Commercial Certificate, which is the legal document that certifies companies in Portugal and provides all the company's legal information, was completely ignored.

If it weren't serious, it was at least a cause for indignation. Revolut comes to do business in a country and does not even bother to identify which documents are legally valid in that country? It works in Portugal as if it were in England and even the interlocutors who are studying Portuguese documents don't even know how to read Portuguese.

So be careful when you read that Revolut is a great solution for companies because if you have to open an account like I did, then you will find that the quality of Revolut's Customer Support is at the worst that you will ever encounter.

The minimum required is that they comply with Portuguese law, if Portuguese companies have to do this, why don't Revolut?
Disrespect for Portugal and the Portuguese is at least insulting.
