This car rental company is outrageously irrational from their service offered to the customer. They are mistreating the customer which not only that, they deem the customer's request by refuse the customer service purchase even the bank informed us that the consumption has been acknowledged, where the transaction has been charged. Our credit card issuing bank is confused why the transaction been cancelled due to the internal security check from RentCars.com, and we could not understand the negative response coming from RentalCars with mean and brutal refusal comments to tell us never book from their website again if we like to rent car on their website. DO NOT USED THIS CAR RENTAL AGENCY, IT IS EXTREMELY LOUSY AND YOU WILL CERTAINLY BE REGRETED IF YOU HAVE EVER GIVE A TRY ON IT!!

Renalcars.com's site will take your money as fast as it could. However don't expect any support if something will go wrong with your rental.
I rented a car in Japan and had some serious issues with it. Just for the sake of not ruining my vacation completely, I ended up paying more than double when it came to trying to
replace the rental (because it had no spare tire when I encountered a flat)
I've been trying to resolve this issue and get some money back for over two months now. All
I'm getting back are generic responses that meant to pacify me until the next time I'll contact
them, or maybe they just hoping I'll eventually give up and go away.
I tried chat, tried email, phone (not even an 800 #), but no resolution what so ever.
Following is a transcript of a chat I had with one of their reps....

XXXX Here is a detailed description of my experience with times rent a car in Japan
XXXX About 4 hours after I picked up the car from Narita airport (Japan), I had a flat tire. There was no spare in the vehicle and the puncture hole was too big for the pump (available in the trunk) to restore the tire pressure to drivable condition.
I had to schedule a tow truck to get the vehicle off the highway. Times car rentals sent their own tow truck which loaded the car (with all paperwork in the glove compartment) way to an undisclosed location and That was the last I've seen it since.
The next day, talking with times car rental over the phone (through a translator), they notified me that I couldn't get a replacement car under my original rental agreement. That I will not receive a credit for the remaining days. And If I so wish, I had to start a new contract which cost ed me almost double for the same exact car.
I wasn't about to argue; as I just wanted my family vacation to continue as smoothly as possible.
The arrangement for the towing was fully coordinated with times car rental at the time of the incident. However yesterday I received a phone call from them, asking me where the car was (over 2 week later), I had to repeat the whole scenario over the phone from back home.
Since I was already discussing the case with them, I asked again about a refund and they said that my contract is with Rentalcars.com and I should take it with them (Rentalcars.com).
Just to reiterate... I had to pay the original booking + the 2nd one (almost double the price), just because there was no spare tire in the car. BTW, they also mentioned that I was liable for the tow-truck and the tire charges.
I think this is outrageous.
Please get back to me ASAP with the solution for this unfortunate ordeal.
I have no documentation to submit, but I can easily produce all my CC charges to support my claim.

My husband and I have booked a 9 seater Van from Rome to Milan in June this year. Our travel plans changed & I called to request the van be dropped off two days earlier. I was informed that I could lose the van booking altogether, and be allocated a smaller car instead (impractical as there are 8 adults plus luggage) AND I would have to pay a higher amount??? I wish I had read the reviews on these SCAM ARTISTS before I booked through them. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES hire a car through this mob EVER.
They have the worst customer service known to companies. I booked a rental car to travel from dc to jfk. They quoted me a price Inpaid in advance. I then received a confirmation of my paid price and what was due. The day before I received an email to print out my voucher for my trip which was two days away. I went to print it out and found out that I had a $206 fee for a one way rental which was not anywhere isn't the price or the email that I received. I wanted to cancel as it was two days before the booking. It was told to me by their customer service that's I would be charged the price of the car because I'm cancelling and that's their policy. I asked to the then speak to a manager. I was told that along the managers were training and they would schedule a manager to call me: I then called back later and was told to amend it and I can pick it up from jfk. I did that they kept my reservation and refused to refund me money. I had to pay for another car which ended up being cheaper then Rentalcars.com. I called them back spoke with someone who was very nice. I then spoke with her manager not by her fault but for clarity and the manager was rude and a jerk and threatened to hang up on me. I told him I could provide the email and that three different associates told me different answers. He said it's my fault I didn't read the terms and conditions. I said even though I consulted with two employees and they gave me a different answer from you third employee. After going back and forth with the manager. I asked to speak to his supervisor who he stated wasn't available and that would call me back. They practice the worst customer service and I hope they shut down. They will never receive any of my business anymore. As I had one great experience through them. But this is enough to make me not want to use this company again. Customer service is detrimental to the success of company.
Found a nice car for good price for 14 days, month after i ordered the car i get a mail that the car has been canceled because the system didn't register a letter in my name. No mail to change the letters or anything to let me know there is a problem, just one letter that the car has been canceled, when I call them they don't want to do anything to help other than rent me the same car for 4 times the amount. Stay away from this company.
Tip for consumers: Use something else.
We flew to Majorca on May 8 and right at the airport
ordered the car through the booking.com.
We took the confirmation that the car will be from the company record 90.
and at the same time confirmation from the company Rentalcars.com.
Then we took another confirmation with a contract from the company Autografus.com.
In short, I'm confused, 1 car was from 3 different companies, or these three companies are the same company.
I took the car at the airport of Majorca in the company Record 90.
The deadline was from 05/05/2019 time 18:00 to 05/05/2019 time 4:30.
We were going to return to Paris on the morning flight.
We were charged 103,99 , of which - Car rental price 41,74 Prepayment was made
Full protection 62.25. Prepayment has been paid.
Autografus.com sent along with the contract an invoice of 108.53 (FUEL TANK - 74.85 + SERVICE AND REFUELLING CHARGE-33.68 ) + EXCESS / FRANQUICIA- 1400.00.
Since I did not have a credit card, but a debit card, they did not block 1,400 euros, but were removed from the card and said they would return it as soon as we returned the car intact.
On May 10, our plans in Majorca changed and we decided to stay there for one more day and return to Paris not in the morning of May 11, but in the evening.
Because we decided to contact the rental company and extend the lease.
We wrote to Rentalcars.com and booking.com, they answered that it was impossible and they would have to call and find out from them.
We called and they told us that it would be a fine of 40 euros.
We agreed, then we were told that it was impossible and better to return the car ahead of time.
In the end, they upset us with all the plans and we decided to take the car to the airport ahead of time and passed it on 10.05 at 19.00 with a full tank.
In the office, record 90 at the airport, we were told that the previous contract cannot be renewed, you need to either return the car or get a new contract, but then again pay all the payments for the second, including the EXCESS / FRANQUICIA 1400 .
Part of the money for fuel came to us on the card the next day, you can see this amount in green with the sign: +74.85 .
However, the EXCESS / FRANQUICIA 1,400 was not returned.
A week has passed, there is no money(TODAY IS 17.05.2019).
Rentalcars.com and booking.com responded that there may be a problem in the bank, but it is not clear why the problem is in the bank?
They returned a small amount, why would they freeze a large amount.
It seems to me that the problem is in the rental company, as I wrote in Rentalcars.com and booking.com.
Then they replied that the refund will take 20-30 days.
It is not clear why if I returned the car in the same condition, I can not get my money back?
It turns out that if I take the car a second time, they will again withdraw the 1,400 franchise from me, and if I take it 3 times, then 4,200 ???
What kind of moronic system ???
And I remembered that 3 years ago we took a car in Mallorca at the hotel, there were not such famous companies as the record 90 or others, but they didn't take a deposit of 1,400 euros, but only 200 or 300 euros, and when It was to extend the rent, went to meet the client.
I have not received my deposit back, imagine if such rental companies as a record 90, sixt, avis, will take 1,400 euros of deposit every day from 1000 customers and return in a month, and at this time to turn money in banks through operations Overnight, can you imagine how much money they will earn ??
In addition, their employees impose their additional services on you, they have hidden payments.
Therefore, I advise you - do not rent a car at the airport, but take it at the hotel from some signor Pedro, he will treat you 1000 better than rental companies.

I rented a car and my flight was delayed by hours. No vehicles available. After several hours trying to contact someone at this company they cancelled the existing booking and rebooked another car . 2 months and many emails and still no credit for the original rental. What a bunch of crooks. Worst business practice ever.
I rented a car back in April with this company, I prepaid for a car for the weekend, they supposedly contracted it through Thrifty rental, when I arrived at the airport the person at the front counter and her manager could not located the reservation even I had a print out and all the numbers with it, when tried to call them, all they give is an international number which I was unable to call to from my cell phone. After spending about 2hrs the manager at Thrifty and myself gave up looking and had to rent a car on the spot for double the cost. Next day I contacted Rentalcars.com to try to get a refund and they said that it was hard to get a refund.... they played around and said they would look into it... I have sent several emails and NO answer has been received, when I finally got someone on the phone, they asked for proof of the rental agreement I had to re-do.... then again after sending all paperwork, copies via email, weeks have gone by and no answer received. This company is the absolute WORSE!. I am disputing the charges with the credit card company and they can deal with this "company". I give them one star and that's only because is the least required to leave a review.. they deserve none!
Third time that I used rentalcars.com. No problems with the first two times. This time, booked a car through them for a holiday trip, supplier was Sicily by Car at Rome Fiumicino airport, reservation in January for a trip in April. Rentalcars.com charged my credit card immediately in January. When trying to make the 1000 deposit in April Sicily by Car claimed that my Visa credit card didn't work. First time in 30 years that it would not work, and I travel a lot for work. We called the credit card company representative in Finland on the spot, and they confirmed that there is no problem with my Visa credit card, nor with the deposit amount, but the credit card machine of Sicily by Car is faulty, causing the Visa computer to refuse the confirmation. They told us a way to bypass the problem (feed the data manually), and wanted to talk with the SbC representative directly. Sicily by Car representative didn't want to do neither. We then offered my wife's Visa credit card to be charged for the deposit + 60 for additional driver, with sufficient credit, but the same problem occurred, as their credit card machine is faulty. We then offered a third credit card (Diners Club) and they refused this card. Sicily by Car representative then didn't want to talk anymore with me. We called rentalcars.com. No reply. We ended up renting a car on the spot at another rental company, including a deposit, using my same Visa card, total sum about the same as the original deposit. No problems whatsoever with my Visa card or the new car rental. We called rentalcars.com several times and put in a claim to get the rental price back and compensation for the additional, more expensive rental. Very little responses so far (4 weeks since the rental). So far, only the insurance part of the rental sum of the original rental has been returned to my credit card. What should have been a 188 rental has costed me about 580 plus the holiday time lost, phone calls and emails afterwards to rentalcars.com. Never again rentalcars.com !
We rent and paid for a car with pick up date April 25,2019- airport Sibiu,Romania.When we arrived they said that we can not receive the car because we do not have the international driving permit so they decided to cancel the voucher without our permission and charged us with 144.91$ -cancellation fee. For customers from outside of European Union you need to be more clear about this international driving permit, where we can obtain this permit and how long we can use this permit in Europe! For an American, Canadian, Australian, Asian, it will be helpful!

Pick up and drop off were in different countries which made rental expensive. Fair enough. "No hidden cost" was mentioned on their website when booking the car, referring to those costs. Unfortunately, that was not the case. At pickup I has to pay additional costs for insurance and different countries for an extra 30 percent. Totally misleading information by this online platform. You better book somewhere else.
Awful company. Sold me a car with a baby seat, and when we arrived in Turkey the car hire company Green Motion didn't have a seat. They said they've not even received an order for one. So I had to drive illegally to the hotel as it was late and put my babies life at risk. My girlfriend and baby couldn't use the car for the rest of the trip so all plans were ruined.
Rentalcars since offered me £22 refund for the car seat and no other compensation. An absolute insult. I use this company all the time, at least 5 times per year. Won't be doing any more. The customer service is horrific.
They send me 2 receipts.
They stole our money, never wanted to refund us.

I booked a car for $69 for five days in Miami. There was a lot of copy in the confirmation indicating that there could be other fees and a need to bring a letter from your credit card company. It was very confusing. The confirmation did not show any taxes or other fees which would have to be added. I I then saw many negative reviews about the company. I tried to cancel my reservation but it would not accept my booking number There was no phone number. It took a half hour to cancel the reservation.
Bad customer service, difficult to reach or contact them, difficult to deal with and are there to take your money and run away with it. Please Please steer clear and away from them.
After three hours on the phone to cancel due to additional unexpected charges a d three weeks later, they have reversed my cancellation a d took my money. I booked the same car from the same supplier independently, cheaper and treated with respect. You do not need a middle man/company to rob you off.
I made an reservation of a car in Lisbon on rentalcars.com a few days ago with a option to cancel reservation 48 hour before without any payment.
When I try to cancel it due to some reason I couldn't do it on a web because I get following message:
Unfortunately, we can't cancel your booking online at the moment. Don't worry, you can contact us and we'll look into it for you.
When I try to make a contact via web form I didn't get any response nor my reservation was cancelled.
Next day I try to call them on their phone number: +44 161 833 8161 nobody answer because is not working day or hour.
It seems to me that rentalcars.com doesn't allow me to cancel my reservation until deadline to cancel ii free passes.

It is written that deposit is 500$ on the reservation website, but it was 1800$ at the counter!! (Because I am a international customer ( everyone is!!! )) . Do not use that site, they make money on false informations and the deposit they don't refund. SCAM
About a week out from our trip our daughter decided to join us. I wrote an email asking how much it would cost to upgrade from a compact car to an intermediate car. The response wasn't clear in the price quoted whether it was extra or entire price, as we had already paid I wanted clarification and never received it despite sending two emails and trying to ring. I have used them in the past without problems but will not be using them again. Very disappointing!!!
Rated 77 out of 77 for car hire on Trustpilot for good reason.
Don't be fooled by the initial low cost charge. They will rip you off for supposed scratches incurred.

Took their bait of "Free Cancellation" and made a reservation then found that the coverage they were including for Iceland was bare bones. Found that for the same cost other rental car companies in Iceland include CDW so cancelled my reservation to get an email back that my deposit had been 'forfeited'. So beware "Free cancellation" is a bait and forfeiture will be the switch if you cancel. If you don't cancel your cost for CDW could double your cost. Then you can also imagine the CDW that a sneaky and scammy outfit would provide you. To carry your own CDW for any car rental I recommend the coverage provided by Allianz. I found them under my AAA membership. Go to aaa.com then look under Travel > Travel & Trip Insurance. Currently the per day cost for 40K USD covergae is $9.

I totally agree and I also mentioned the same in my review but the 1 thing I always wonder that when you search for the rental cars, this company appeared with 4 star ratings. It seemed that this company is so CROOKED THAT THEY EVEN TEMPERED THE RATINGS AS WELL.

Take up your complains with Rental car. Com if you want to f and blind direct it to them. I understand the frustration with this company.
