Lies and poor customer service

I was told I could only cancel a booking if I first made a subsequent booking, which I did.
But they never reimbursed me for the first.
Terrible customer service trying to resolve this. After several calls and online chats (when they admitted it was their error) they still did not reimburse me.

One of the worst companies I've ever seen. We lost our flights and could not pick up our car on time. They then cancelled our reservation and said that all they could do was create a new reservation - and charge us again. Why would I pay twice for a car? I was suppose to get the car on June 1st and drop it off on June 5th. If I want to take it on June 2nd and drop it off on June 5th, I have to make a new reservation - and pay again. This is absurd! Never never never use this company.

That was a one off experience we are not likely to repeat! We had to wait for hours to get a filthy, banged up car at our destination. Returned the car early but were still overcharged. Reaction of the rental company: "you need to ask for compensation from the booking site". After filing a complaint when we returned from vacation, total silence. They "closed our ticket" without any further responses.

I would never, ever book here again, it is close to a scam.

No Car and No Refund on Prepay

Extremely dissatisfied with this transaction. I prepaid for a rental car several months in advance and when I arrived at the rental company, Fox, was told that the could not give me a car because I only had a debit card with a Mastercard logo on it. The card had plenty of money for the security deposit hold. I tried calling rental cars.com and no one picked up. The company appears to be based in the UK. I emailed them the same day and received an email the next day stating they would not refund me. I'm now out hundreds of dollars.

Sorry to say so, but rentalcars sucks... They kept me busy for a couple of days, could not confirm my booking, could not give me my voucher, kept on asking me all kind of questions... Finally I cancelled my booking. Did a new booking with Sunnycars, and within a couple of hours (not days) I got my car confirmation, and my voucher with details to pick up my car.
Forget rentalcars... good luck with Sunnycars :)

Do not use rentalcars.com

This company is the absolute worst and they will steal your money. In short, I booked a rental car for La Paz Bolivia, when I was done it showed la Paz Mexico. I immediately tried to cancel it but the cancellation was grayed out because it was next day, i've done everything in my power to contact them immediately with no luck. The next day I called them And they said there was nothing they could do. So they took my money. Do yourself a favor and never use this and tell all your family and friends

Fraudulent service

The only few 5 stars would have been from rental cars.com itself... They never ever refund anything.

These are bad people rude scammers online service where once you pay you will never get it back and most expensive car rental service, my suggestion book direct from real car rental companies

I lost 1700 and never got the car and no refund from these people.

Totally non-responsive company

Never dealt with such a non-responsive company. Car rental went fine. Having bought full insurance coverage, filed a claim for tire/wheel damage (~$400). After >5 months, have not even received a response, let alone any insurance reimbursement. Agents do nothing to help. Totally frustrating!

I booked a car with rentalcars.com in Mexico city and paid the total price of $240 CAD by credit card including insurance, which was supposed to be excellent with total coverage and no deductible. Their partner insurance company also indicated in their voucher that the coverage was totally valid in Mexico. And finally in addition, they also at time of booking promised free cancellation.

When I went to the car company (Europacar) in MEX airport terminal, they would not accept the insurance coverage that rentalcars.com had provided and would not release the car unless I bought insurance from them for 240 US dollars. In other words, Europacar expected me to purchase insurance again a second time or they would not release the car. Obviously I was not going to agree to such an absurd idea.

I tried to cancel the rental car booking (and even the booking time of pickup had not started) but their online system would not let me cancel the booking at all. I had no choice but to abandon my entire plan of renting the car and just caught the bus to my destination. Later I asked rentalcars.com to refund my money and all that is happening is me being transferred from one agent to another. It seems clear they want to steal my $240, since their partner never released the car.

So not only did I suffer enormous inconvenience, but now I am engaged in a struggle, with my credit card provider to disallow the charge so I can get my money back from these parasites, who are clearly dishonest on two counts i. E. (1) they don't keep the deal they agreed to and (2) they don't even let you cancel.

The whole thing is a nightmare. Don't ever deal with these people.

We rented a car through Booking.com/Rentalcars.com for Mexico end of March. We paid for insurance, which the rental car company in Mexico city did not want to accept. Above the already paid 96 euro to Rentalcars.com the Mexican car rental charged us 280 dollars. We called Rentalcars.com but they did not help us at all. We complained and they would refund us our 96 euro. In meantime we are May 17th and did not get any refund. Rentalcars blames Booking, Booking blames them. It's the same company. Last excuse was a technical fault. They don't keep their promises. You get different people speaking bad English on the phone or they just stop the call, a technical fault, the other colleague says then. Please do not use Rentalcars.com. Book directly with the car rental company. You might pay more, but at least you will not get such a bad service like Rental.cars.com.

RUN AWAY

Don't walk, but run from Rentalcars.com. My Flight was delayed in route (which they had the flight information). When I landed and called the rental car company and Rentalcars.com, neither answered despite Rentalcars.com claiming they have 24/7 customer service. The car rental company had closed 15 minutes before I landed, so they both left me stranded at the airport with no car. On top of that, I had to pay a lot more to get a one day rental from a differential rental car company (who by the way would never leave a customer stranded who landed 15 minutes late). To add insult to injury, Rentalcars.com is trying to collect rental charges for a car that was never provided, despite the car rental company telling me directly it does not want paid for the rental because it never provided the service. Rentalcars.com terms are horrible and so is their customer service. Do not book anything with them, let alone any rental that is close to the closing time of rental car company. If you see a cheap rate from them, be very suspect they are betting you won't get to car rental company on time and they will pocket up to three days of rental from you even though the rental car company is charging $0.

Worst customer experience I could possibly imagine. Predatory scam!

I booked a car with Wiber (car hire company) through rentalcars.com website and the car hire company wouldnt give it to me because my Driving License and Passport were from 2 different countries. They told me they will refund me and that I should call rentalcars.com because I booked through them. I tried calling them and the guy was completely useless and didnt understand the problem. I called back the next day and they told me that they WILL NOT REFUND me because 24 hours had passed. Completely unacceptable. Never using rentcalrs.com again.

I used Rentalcars to rent a car on-line for 10 days. Had to change my flight, should have cancelled. I arrived the next day, the car was not available, understood. No alternative car was available, yet, I was charged for the full amount. I had to rent another car from Budget. For Rentalcars to say, you were late, no car is available, and you are charged for the full amount, -10 days-, was the worse customer experience I have ever had.
I reviewed Rentalcars rating after having had this experience, to find out it was 1 out of 5 stars across the board!, service, value, shipping, return, and quality, see attached.

Des arnaqueurs de premier rang.
Nous lous une voiture chez une compagnie qui en fin de compte n'accepte pas des cartes de débit et sur ce site, ils refusent de nous rembourser. Ils veulent garder 66 € alors qu'on n'a pas pu prendre la voiture à cause d'eux.

Fake phone number, no money back

I had made a paid car reservation online with rentalcar.com to pick up April 15 2022 at CWB airport in Brazil. Upon arriving I went to the local car rental (Movida) to pick up the car, but the agent did not allow me to have the car. They said that my application was denied. I had already paid for the reservation US$548.64.
I tried to contact the phone number rentalcar.com provided at the reservation documents, but it was a fake number, there was also no local number for me to contact rentalcar.com. The local office agent told me that since the contract was not made, my refund was going to be automatic. I had to get a tax and pay a lot of money to get to my final destination. After I was able to have internet service, which was the following day. I emailed rentalcar.com explaining the situation. Rentalcar.com's only answer was that I was not going to have no my money back. I try to explain that I was abroad with no correct phone number to contact anybody, but no one even considered anything.
Do not rent from Rentcar.com its all fake.

This company is shambolic! Terrible customer service. One agent on the phone even hung up the phone on me when I asked them if I could speak to someone else.

I made a booking with them for Europcar and it said in the details that the pick-up deposit must only be made with a credit card and nothing else. I called them to ask about it and they confirmed over the phone that was the case. I had to change my booking to a more expensive rental that would accept debit cards.
When picking up the car the Europcar the office manager told me that they always accept debit cards and that Rentalcars were wrong.

After a truly painful experience trying to get the difference refunded as it was their mistake they eventually outright refused saying it was my fault.

So it was my fault that I didn't check the incorrect information when making my booking?!

Trying to submit a complaint about a rental is almost impossible, I think they just hope you'll give up.

You'll have to pay extra for the privilege of using them as 3rd party and if you have a problem they'll conveniently disappear.

Just go straight to the rental company

Never use Rentalcars!

I booked a car through Rentalcars more than 48 hours before it was required. Arrived at Udon Thani airport to collect it from Budget and they knew nothing about it. Needless to say they had no cars that were suitable, so I called UDCarrentals whom I had used before. They went out of their way to help and I was on my way in 20 minutes. Thanks Noi!
Tried contacting Rentalcars. Impossible. Recorded message saying I was calling out of hours, although it was only 3:00 pm on Wednesday. Every reference to contact us on the website took me to a help page that was no help. I eventually sent an email to a corporate advertising site from which I received a reply. I checked my bank on Thursday and found I had been charged twice, once on Monday and again on Wednesday. Finally got an email on Friday saying they have received my complaint and they are trying to find a "right person" who can look into the matter. It's now Sunday and still no news. I would tell anyone I know DO NOT USE RENTALCARS.COM under any circumstance!

It's easier to charter a vessel than rent a car from this company! It was nowhere clearly stated that we had to own a credit card (and not a debit card) in order to pay 1.200€ deposit to rent a simple car, nor that the driver has to pay extra insurance if he is under 25yo. We suggested so many solutions and they ignored us (eg to change the driver's name).
The employer on the call center was very rude, insisted that I was wrong and not helpful at all! We asked for a full refund and they denied it! I had to raise my voice and be rude as she to get a partial compensation.
