Just about anyone can build a website for you, but what what follows after the website is built is what's most important! Will the builder be open and sensitive to your ideas, changes, etc., as your business grows and needs change? Will they be courteous, patient, professional and continue to offer that great service they bragged about when getting you to sign-on with them? Well You can confidently answer YES to all of my questions if the company is REGISTER.COM! This company gets it and I discovered it in the form of their customer consultant, Nina! Nina, is the reason I decided to remain with Register.com. I have never been treated more fairly, with a level of professionalism and professional courtesy. Nina is attentive, patient, and delivers with enthusiasm. She makes me feel like a partner! She's just as concerned about my brand appeal as I am—And seems equally as invested in "getting it right" for the public I serve! Can't ask for better than that folks. If Register.com was smart enough to hire Nina, then I'm certain she's not the only one. It's a "Register.com" company thing, called Superior Excellence." Thank you, Nina Thank you, Register.com!
I am a small business owner. I purchased a domain name in June and I began to pay for a security certificate. In November I started to pay for hosting. It never worked right. There was always something going wrong. After six weeks of being bounced around from agent to agent, I found out from Adobe Portfolio that I never needed to buy hosting or a security certificate from Register as Adobe provides both for me. You would think that someone at Register might know that, but no. Every time I spoke to Register I dealt with another person who only knew what went on in their department. No one could look at the big picture and help me figure out what was wrong. There was no continuity in the customer service I received and no refunds and I am still getting emails about needing a CSR for the security certificate I no longer have!

Tip for consumers:
The customer service reps were frequently short with me. They told me what they thought the problem was and they grew condescending when I questioned them. "You need to find out your DNS from Adobe."
"Where do I even look for that information?" I asked. "I don't know, I don't have access to Adobe.com" was the answer. One of the last people I dealt with told me I didn't have a website and instead of helping me investigate, pushed me into talking with a web developer for a $2000 custom website.

Domain name registration and management. I also purchased a security certificate and a hosting subscription but could never use them as they were unnecessary.
Absolutely one the worst companies to work with. I've tried 4 times to transfer a domain and it is still not completed. Each contact I'm assured it will get done. The only thing I get is more emails trying to sell me something. They're great at taking my money but zero help when you need to get something done.
Tip for consumers:
Stay away!

I am billed weekly for services that I did not authorize or understand. Customer service is a complete joke. Worst company of all time.
After over two decades of being a loyal customer of Register.com, it's with regret that I find myself needing to share a less than satisfactory experience. My journey with their services took a downturn starting from an SSL issue early in the year, which, despite numerous calls and assurances, remains unresolved to this day.
I reached out to the support team multiple times, only to be shuffled from one representative to another without any concrete resolution. The so-called 'expert team' in the USA even declared the issue resolved in an email which clearly, from my ongoing struggles, it was not. When I sought to cancel the service and requested a refund for the undelivered services, my plea seemingly fell on deaf ears.
To add insult to injury, a separate issue with an outdated SSL certificate has disrupted my ability to receive emails for an extended period, further impacting my business operations. A ticket (I*******) was raised, yet I was informed no action had been taken. I was also told I could not receive written confirmation of our conversations nor any acknowledgment of the support provided, leaving me with no paper trail to back my claims.
The inability to secure a refund or even an acknowledgment in writing from Register.com is not only frustrating but feels dismissive of my long-term commitment to their service. The lack of accountability and transparency is concerning, and I urge potential customers to consider this experience when choosing a hosting service provider.
I am now in the process of closing all services with Register.com and wish to caution others. The once dependable and customer-focused service I knew has regrettably declined, and it is important for others to be aware of this before making a decision that could impact their own web presence and business.
Register.com is the worst domain name registrar I've ever experienced. The service is unreliable, their customer service is outright horrendous and their tech support is incompetent, understaffed or both.
I had the displeasure of trying to resolve a DNS propagation issue with Register.com. Every customer service representative I spoke to had different excuses and details. They constantly misled us about the progress of resolution and kept back the timeframe. No details were ever explained, Customer Service continually provided vague explanations such as "This has been escalated to Senior Admin." When I asked to speak to a manager I was treated with hostility. The DNS propagation was was supposed to be resolved in 24-48 hours. As of this review it is 120 hours. Our business got to a point where we had to transfer our domain name registrar. At that point they stopped work completely.
Regarding the transfer of our domain name registrar, ICANN standards are 5-7 business days. Register.com Customer Service team told me that our domain would be released in 7-10 days, a clear violation of standards.
I've used GoDaddy, Weebly, and others. This is the worst by far. The support is even worse. Don't use it
I was exploring purchasing a range of products for a new company from domains to websites, emails, etc. I wanted more information about the different ecommerce options, so I tried the chat feature and was connected to Chaithra.
Chaithra is completed uneducated about the products on Register.com. She could not answer simple questions such as what marketing platforms are included with the premium service. She refused to transfer me to a supervisor. She tried to pass me off to another team claiming they were open, but I called while still in the chat with her to find they had closed over 2 hours earlier. She acknowledged later that she was aware of this situation.
I repeatedly asked for the end-of-conversation survey I was told she would send when I realized she couldn't help me. It's more than 20 minutes later, and she refuses to send it because she knows I will leave a negative internal review.
Clearly I won't be using your service since the customer service is completely unprofessional, dishonest, and untrained. This site needs to thoroughly reconsider the people they are employing and the lack of training provided to them.
Tip for consumers:
This experience assures me that Register.com is NOT a company I would trust or utilize to support my business.

I'm still shopping for the products and services I need.
This is the absolute worst hosting platform I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with. Their service doesn't work at all and when you try to fix this they tell you that you can pay them to help you OR pay Wordpress to troubleshoot it.
They don't have a c-panel so GOOD LUCK getting anything meaningful done.
Their customer service is so slow that you either give up or just call them.
Go with ANY OTHER provider, or have fun throwing your money away.

1st - I had months down with my Biz Email when they switched servers and had set up a system that even IT Tech would have problems navigating.
Today I found after ~ 15 years having a Biz Web Page through them. They deleted it@ www.savemoneyonenergy.com
They send almost daily request for renewal of services & many I had years ago, so they said they sent me an email 1st in ******* saying my Web Page was in danger & when push to a supervisor, this changed to Oct 2023.
This Nov I called and asked which renewal did I still need that were Critical & paid for those.
Now they are saying I should have paid for Web Page Site Renewal and after 15 day the Web Page contents get deleted.
I spent a year making my Page & took them just 15 days to Delete it! JUST WOW...
I need to find a Lawyer, for they DID NOT do "Due Diligence" making sure I knew my Web Page was in danger of deletion.
Instead they sent 1 email, they admit I did not even open. Yet they send up to 10 a month begging for Renewal Monies.
I wish they has 1/2 Star...
I just killed the email account I had with Register.com. I don't even want a refund; I just want OUT! For years I suffered with techs who speak poor English and rarely fix any problems. They tried to get me to pay them $99 to fix a problem THEY caused, because they switched servers (or something like that). NOT MY FAULT. Avoid companies that use off-shore workers.
This is probably my first review of any sercive ever, they are so bad that they got me to write a review.
When I need their help with basic stuff such as pointing my domain to an A record, the chat/phone support has no idea what they are talking about, they are clueless of anything tech-related and takes forever to even answer you.
We are in 2023 and even a bot is better than their support, so I used chatGPT and got the help I needed.
I moved all my domain from Register.com to a different provider.
I have no Idea how this company is still running.
0 stars.

If you use register.com, you better hope you never have any problems because their customer support is ridiculous. You will get a person but having been dealing with them for over a month on an issue, I think it would take a miracle to get a rssolution. Promised callbacks never happen. I don't know how this company stays in business. My recommendation - run as fast and as far away from this company that you can.

Its one week my outlook and mobile email are not working, sent an email, they replied without giving a solution, telling to be patient. Unacceptable
Business site down due to no ssl cert which is issued by reg.com in the 1st place. Dozens of calls round in a circle for several weeks with no way out. Each call you start from scratch. Loads of promises going nowhere. Only progress is when I contact the President of the company who put me in touch with a top manager who resolved the issue quickly. I have had to contact the President twice in the last couple of years in order to get issues resolved. This is not good enough. Thousands of $ lost because of lost bookings. We are a travel business.
I belonged to Register.com for over 20 years. I finally quit because I was getting 150 spams and spoofs DAILY. I couldn't handle them.
Now, a year later...I want my domain name back so I can use it elsewhere. Register.com has basically "KIDNAPPED IT" and are holding it RANSOM. The Ramson is NOT money. They want personal info that is personal and I am unwilling to share...such as a Goverment ID with a Color Photo of me and Utility bills where the address agrees with government ID. So funny, because all our Utility type bills are in my husband's name... BTW, I'm 80 years *******@mac.com
Register.com is garbage. They are good at one thing: registering your domain in 1999. Never give them your credit card for any reason. Today I authorized an $11 charge. Just got an American Express alert they charged my card $75.97. This is the $#*! I'm talking about. Shady, shady, shady. Most dishonest company I've ever dealt with. Only time in my life I couldn't get a vendor to reverse a charge for a non-functioning product, so I disputed with AmEx and *they* reversed the charge for me. I cannot even articulate what absolute trash these thieves and con artists are.
It used to be a good service provider when I became their customer in 1997. Nowadays, it is only interested in getting new sales and does not care for its old customers. Its help service on its site has become totally irrelevant and people who are supposed to help on the phone can't speak English well and nor are they knowledgeable.
Lost email capability the beginning of April 2023. I called and called and all I got was that they would fix it (3calls) on the 4th call the girls says well if you renew now I will send the repair right up to the top people and it will be fixed in 48 hours. That cost me $105.08. A week later, still nothing. So I messaged for them to issue a refund $105.08. The girl said in a written message that the FULL AMOUNT WOULD BE PROCESSED. Nope still, $23.24 still missing. Today, I chatted and she said can't do can only refund $11.00, that the balance is a processing fee. So folks, I have been with them for over 15 years and treated like this. I don't think so and you should think twice about purchasing from them.

None I am cancelling my account.
As a web developer, I have worked with different Registrars for 25+ years now and Register.com is near the bottom of the list (along with Godaddy). Apparently there was an issue with a card and among their barrage of daily spam emails there might have been a notice about this. Regardless, we are now almost 30 hours in, after providing new credit card info, for them to restore our site. Spent hours on chat and the phone and they still cannot tell us when they may get around to restoring our email and web services. You keep getting bounced around from all these different departments but in the end, 30 hrs in we are still down. I should also note that the disputed charge was for a service we were not even using and they took it upon themselves to alter our DNS name servers. Just an amazingly bad company all around.

Our business email has been out 5 days. We called these sad excuse of a company and they said we were on an old email system and needed to upgrade. It would take 4 hours. We had to pay $180 more. They never told us about an upgrade. Now they said to wait another 4 hours. These people are business killers. How about they pay us for hurting business. I am going to look for another service as I see they are rated #70 and now I know why. Total garbage steer away. Now 7 days they are completely useless. This company is horrible do not use them you will be sorry.
I contacted Register.com to put my original website back online that I paid thousands of dollars for, Not only did they not do that, they tried to" create " a new website for me ( what!?). They refused to give me my money back! The credit card company Capitol One, after sending them all the correspondence required to get a refund, refused to give me my money back also. Save your money! Find a REPUTABLE internet company and credit card company.
To begin, I think rating of 1.3 is way too generous. Anything above 1 assumes presence of IQ or at least basic competency - that certainly doesn't exist along with customer service. On hold for hours, chat is staffed by people who have no clue how any of this stuff works.

My customer made a mistake of purchasing a domain from this place. Personally I would rather have a colonoscopy.
These clowns hyjacked my domain after hosting it for well over a decade. I lost all of my emails with a huge customer base. I jumped through endless trivial hoops only to be left on hold until they closed... day after day. You're a fool if you own a business and let these immature clown host your website/domain. Don't do it...
Horrible customer service, tech support is amateur, and can barley understand.
Email host is horrendous, constant glitches.
This company tries to sell you something every time you call them.
They're more concerned about sales than to help you fix an issue.
I recently asked about a SSL purchase, the salesperson sold me a SSL certificate to add to my website, then they installed it and it did not work and made things worse.
I called them and told them it's not working and now since they did what they did, I get a big warning when visiting my website "this is not a secure website, please go back"
I call them and now they tell me my website is not compatible with the software that they just sold and installed!
I ask for my money back for something they installed and didn't work and they told me they can't refund me because they already installed it!
I called my credit card company to stop payment and dispute this.
A horrible company to work with, and they don't treat customers well.
