“I love Ravelry!”

Ravelry is the best knitting/crochet website out there. I love the free patterns, and the way that pattern developers can become well-known through the website without necessarily getting their patterns in books. I also love the feature of being able to look at photos of other projects from a pattern. You can see how it looks on various body types if it's a garment, and then you can ask people questions through messaging.

@handmade_with_Shaz,@Guildova Designs The only stalker here has been a woman called Shaz. She and her several profiles even contacted people who reacted to my posts, friends and family members. The Grand Lace Tablecloth is the diagram version from the Gelana Tablecloth by Natalia Grevtseva. This is stated by Olga self and free charts still available. Someone took the opportunity to make up a story and claim the copyright, even when the diagram writer Olga posted it for free. Disrespectful is to find a way to own her pattern, after 2 years of her death.

Verified purchase

Been a Ravelry member since 2010. Love it. The folks here are supportive, kind, and encouraging. Learned everything I need to know about weaving on a rigid heddle on Ravelry. Never had a problem with purchasing a pattern. Incredible collection of patterns (many of which are free). Wonderful forums and groups on every topic. (Harry Potter knitting - you got it; Spinners who like to weave, you got it!) If you're new to Ravelry, keep in mind that the vast majority of knitters on here are individuals, not big yarn companies or knitting designers. Knitting/crochet/weaving are passions. If they post and sell patterns, the vast majority will be helpful, supportive, and honest. But they may also have day jobs, so you may not hear back from them right away. All in all, I'd recommend Ravelry to anyone that wants to learn about the fiber arts and is looking for kind supportive people to engage with.

Tip for consumers:
Don't listen to the bad reviews. Ravelry is a great site with great people.

Best knitting/ crochet site on the web. More so because they have banned the pro Trump racists who can't seem to understand that by supporting a man who preaches white supremacy, they are in fact sanctioning his racist policies. If you are not a racist or white suprematist, why on Earth support one. It's lovely to now be able to chat about knitting, search the thousands of patterns etc without racist politics being involved. All the people on here are nice now. The

This site and its makers and keepers have been and are creating a marvelous opportunity for fiber folk and designers to come together to talk about projects, learn something new, find new items to create and so much more. I cherish this place and the creators who fill it.

I've been a member of this group for 10+ years and have connected with wonderful people from all over the globe. They are helpful, supportive, and inspiring. I consider many very dear friends, even though we've never met.

I also appreciate the fact that the owners of the website are willing to put their values ahead of their profits by banning racism and bigotry on their site.

Ravelry is an awesome site to connect with other fibre artists, search for and purchase patterns from amazing designers, and see how the design you like looks on other people. You can ask for help and get tips and techniques, find out about new trends in knitting/crocheting and follow up and coming designers, and generally just hang out in the best place on the web. Also a great way to organize your stash and store patterns. Highly recommend.

Ravelry is a fantastic site. Thousands of patterns, groups for every interest under the sun, forums where you can get help with projects, and chat, and make friends... Ravelry is excellent. Please don't let the recent barrage of negative "reviews" sway you -- a white supremacist Facebook group has directed their users to harass the site's owners Hopefully these false reviews will be deleted soon, but in the meantime, I will be spending more time on Ravelry!

A place to buy patterns or download free ones. A place to keep track of your yarn stash. A place to keep track of your projects. Forums for just about every topic under the sun. Helpful, responsible site owners and employees. Diversity friendly. Conscious of keeping the site safe for everyone.

Ravelry is a shining of example of how to do internet community right, and excellent database design. I'm constantly impressed by their features, and their tools, which absolutely anticipate my needs as a crafter. Without tools like Ravelry, I probably would have given up on knitting, but instead I am on their site every single day and have a half dozen projects going at once. And it's free!

Ravelry is an amazing site for fiber artists (knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving etc.). It has an encyclopedic database of patterns, yarns, and projects allowing you to scope out your next project, and find out if the pattern does what it says it does, needs a specific yarn, or looks really cool with a new modification. They have a unique community structure that allows people to form their own little sub-communities to connect with folks, and I have met some of the most lovely supportive people this way. There was a time I would have lost Everything I owned, if not for a generous member I met through Ravelry offering to hold my things while I was homeless.
The site designers have always been huge on inclusivity and making people feel welcome, and have lately taken a stance on mentions of Trump reflecting that. Overall they have had a hands-off policy with very few overarching limits, but they feel, and I agree, that this was necessary to maintain the safe community they have built. Sadly, they're dealing with some insane backlash.

TLDR: Ravelry is literally the best social network I have ever interacted with, in terms of User Interface, Community, and Functionality--AND it has a phenomenal database to boot!

Tip for consumers:
Customize your communities!

Ravelry has been a place for me since 2007 where I can learn anything to do with fibercrafts with the added benefit of lifelong friendships. I have friends from Rav where we've seen each other through hardships and milestones in life. Any patterns/yarn/fiber I can think of I can find or brainstorm with other designers to create. I tell every fiber enthusiast I meet" If you're not on rav, get on there! It will change your world"

Best site for all things knitting/crocheting related. Best resource to find patterns, ideas, yarn reviews, help, KALs, and community.

Takes seriously the safety of its members. Very small group bent out of shape they are no longer allowed to use site for hate speech. Business owners and moderators have worked for years to deal with these hateful trolls (some of whom have harassed others via doxxing and threats).

Ravelry's database is the BEST place to find a pattern. There are so many search parameters, and you can search the forums for advice if you're stuck or don't understand.

Ravelry is a necessary resource for any knitter or crocheter. Information about every yarn and pattern in existence is listed and cross referenced with users' projects, stash, and library.
An independent designer can sell their patterns through Ravelry with the site taking only a tiny percentage, and only when the designer makes a certain $ amt in sales in that particular month.
There is also an extensive list of social groups one may or may not join, many based on other hobbies & interests, or offered by local yarn shops and other industry groups, to keep one in the loop and to offer a platform for respectful discussion. The owners are doing an excellent job of curbing hate speech against marginalized folks to make Ravelry's message boards a more pleasant space for all.

I have been with Ravelry since the beginning. It is a great site for everyone, just not for hate. As you can see, those who are racist are mad because they can't espouse their hate anymore and are doing all they can to bring the site down. Love will win. Inclusivness will win.

Ravelry is the best place online to find patterns. Being able to search for a pattern by yarn weight, or type of garment, is a life changer. The forums are diverse, you can likely find a group for anything you might want to discuss. My only real complaint that since I've joined Ravelry, I've bought more patterns than I'll ever be able to knit in my lifetime.

The people that have recently been down-voting the site are doing so because Ravelry will no longer allow people to post anything in support of white supremacy.
