Ravelry is the best knitting/crochet website out there. I love the free patterns, and the way that pattern developers can become well-known through the website without necessarily getting their patterns in books. I also love the feature of being able to look at photos of other projects from a pattern. You can see how it looks on various body types if it's a garment, and then you can ask people questions through messaging.
@handmade_with_Shaz,@Guildova Designs The only stalker here has been a woman called Shaz. She and her several profiles even contacted people who reacted to my posts, friends and family members. The Grand Lace Tablecloth is the diagram version from the Gelana Tablecloth by Natalia Grevtseva. This is stated by Olga self and free charts still available. Someone took the opportunity to make up a story and claim the copyright, even when the diagram writer Olga posted it for free. Disrespectful is to find a way to own her pattern, after 2 years of her death.
Does anyone else get an introduction about "the size of the human assh**e and how a racoon could fit up inside it when they access the Ravelry thread "Lazy, stupid, and godless"? I was thrashed by one of the moderators for "thread $#*!*ing" and just wonder if this what everyone else sees when they check out this forum on Ravelry. Is it funny or clever? I don't think so. Seems offensive and posted by someone who is strangely preoccupied. Lazy,... is billed as a sometimes wild forum but is primarily woke and conformist.
As a conservative, I have never felt welcome there. Not even 10 yrs ago, WAY before Trump. They have an awesome library of patterns, that is true. But it isn't worth being told to Shut Up and Stay out of the forums. AND I didn't know that I was a White Supremacist, thank you for telling me that.
If you don't want offensive content on a search, go to the back page and search forward, as offensive content seems to be the preferred content now.
Ravelry is the industry leader in fibre arts for sure, and it's a great platform for discovering patterns and businesses, but there is a troubling undercurrent of ableism that has been exposed in the last week. At least seven seizures have been reported by users in the last eight days and hundreds of users have shared their experiences of migraines, eyestrain and headaches caused by the new layout. Ravelry has shut down all discussions of accessibility and safety and the team has refused to make any apologies for the suffering that has been caused. One user who had worked hard for the last ten years to create accessible patterns for blind knitters has shared how her work has systematically been targeted and removed from the site, and how she has been told in no uncertain terms that her style of knitting will never be considered equal. Ravelry has been a safe space and my favourite place on the internet for years but their silence is deafening and it's clear that the team and their volunteers are not as passionate about inclusivity as they claim.
