Great invitation choices; easy to customize, very user-friendly site. I was very pleased with how well the entire processed worked, from designing, to sending, to replies, and reminders. Recommend highly, will use again.

Punch bowl advertises as free, but they do not tell you that you need to pay a subscription. If you do the free trial, you can cancel, but you can't manage the invite that you just sent out. Which is the whole purpose of an Evite. So disappointed in the lack of transparency of the website and it taking advantage of users.

(1) The ecards are boring and not very imaginative. (2) Compared to competitors, the cost of subscribing is high. (3) The subscription page deceptively displays the monthly breakdown of cost, but the only subscription term available is for a whole year. Cancelled online and going to try to get a refund within the 30-day trial period.

Started with basic membership then had to upgrade to platinum since I exceeded # of guest invites to send out. With platinum membership it still did not allow me to remove ads, could not print a paper copy of guest list after invites were texted out, alot of guests did not receive 1st invite so I had to text and ask everyone and then resend again, set reminder to 7 days before event and no one received a text reminder including myself (added self as a guest to keep track), changed again to 6 days reminder and still nothing! Emailed punchbowl and they replied to me that I can send announcements to guests! Instead of just admitting their service is horrible and doesn't send out reminders as they have listed as an option!

Tip for consumers:
Was refunded for remaining unused membership fee.

Hello, we're sorry to hear you ran into some trouble! With the Platinum tier subscription, your invitations are advertisement-free. Ads are automatically turned off if you upgrade your subscription before sending your invitation. If you have already sent your invitation, the options can be adjusted from the Manage Invitation page. Once there, click on the Invitation Options button on the right side of the page. From there, click on the Member Features tab and the Remove Advertising option will be located at the bottom of the list. Please note, advertisements can only be removed from accounts with an active membership. If you were to cancel your Platinum membership, your invitations would no longer be ad-free.

To review invitation recipients, we suggest double checking the "Unsent" list on the Add Guests screen to make sure you finished sending to the contacts you added. Similarly, we encourage double checking the settings for the Automatic Event Reminder have been turned on. Please reach out to help@punchbow.com and we would be more than happy to walk you through these features to ensure you don't run into any trouble again! - Nicole in Marketing

They'll let you get through making your entire card before the final step, when it asks you make an account. You make an account, and then realize it didn't save your card. So annoyingly, you'll go back to remake your entire card, and then the final step this time will be to start their free trial or buy a subscription package. Great!
I know this is not an uncommon business practice but I've just had enough of it. Only two stars because the site was designed well.
Also, looks like two of the subscription packages don't even remove advertising. You get to pay up and still get to have ads on your card. Wow. And looks like this site requires you to make an account as well, lol. Never had needed to do something out of spite just in spite of something else. Time for tempmail again

I've used Punchbowl.com a few times to make invitations and I would have given it 5/5 stars at that point, but now that they've made it into a subscriptions service I'll be looking elsewhere. I have no desire to subscribe when I only send out an invite every once in a while... like 1-2 times a year - if that. Especially because they didn't tell me until I had already completely designed the invitation.

Had an account from a year ago where you could send cards for free. Now it is subscription only and it looks as though cheapest option is $24 a year. Billed annually. I just wanted to send a mother's day card and spent thirty minutes on it when I discovered the new fee. I would have paid the $2 monthly but when I went to confirm it showed $24 for a yesr. Just be aware before you dive into card msking. It's not free. Nice cards though which made it doubly disappointing.

You think that you will get a valuable service for free. What you actually get is lured into investing time and energy creating something of importance to you (an invitation to an event) which you find out, at the end, cannot be sent unless you allow tacky ads to be included in the card. The alternative? Pay Punchbowl $85 dollars -- an extortion fee, lest you loose the work you have done and have to start over with another provider. They could explain up front the terms of the agreement and let people decide for themselves if they want the product for the price. That is what an honest company would do.

We're sorry to hear you feel this way. While you do have the option to upgrade to a paid subscription to unlock all of our membership benefits (such as an ad-free experience), our platform is completely free. We do our best to make this clear. The cost you mentioned was for an annual membership. Monthly plans are also available.

I like the cards on Punchbowl and use them almost monthly. BUT, imagine my surprise today when I tried to send a Christmas card that they now put ADS at the top of their cards, and will not take them off unless you buy the MOST EXPENSIVE subscription level. The ads make it look so incredibly cheap. If I want a cheap looking card I can just go to Walmart. At least their cards don't have dumb ads on them. I'm taking a hike and finding an ecard site that removes ads for any subscription. Does anyone have any recommendations for an alternative?

Today is Mother's Day. I really want to send my mom an ecard to show her some love and care during this social distancing and I can't, this system don't let me. I pay almost $50.00 the fist time and I can't use it.

Unfortunately I made the mistake of buying the expensive version, which I did not realize was in US dollars. (I live in Canada), and I would NEVER pay $60+ dollars for an app! I can create my own on my computer and am not stuck with all the ads, constant request to send gift cards and malfunctioning options for my e-cards! Never, ever will I spend money on this type of app again! BEWARE! Even though my renewal was up on the 5h, and I had let them know via iTunes, by the end of that day, on the 5th, they had already charged my credit card! Weird thing is this, it showed up on my credit card, but it did not show up in the iTunes Store account information page at all! Why? I had already cancelled the subscription in iTunes, so I suspect that is why! Punchbowl, still went after my money! I now have to prove that they did so in error, and on, and on, it goes! In the meantime, I am out $61.28! That's wrong, right before Christmas! Grrrr. Bah Humbug!

As with any subscription or digital purchase you make in an iOS app, Apple collects the payment directly and handles all cancelations and refunds. Customers who run into a problem with an app subscription can email us at help@punchbowl.com. We'd be happy to walk you through how to request a refund from Apple, but their policies do not allow us to charge or refund a customer ourselves.

I have used Punchbowl for many years to send evites. No more than 1-2 evites a year. I just went in and completed an entire invitation, added emails, sent a test mail, etc. Only after all of that does it come up to tell you that only new members can send an evite for free. Loyal users now have to "subscribe" and pay. Granted, the least expensive option is only $0.99, however you just can't pay that. You have to join with a monthly subscription and then you have to remember to cancel. This stinks! I'm done with Punchbowl. There are too many free options out there without the hassle.

I wrote to Punchbowl 2 days ago to let them know that my invitee list was not fully displaying and showing "Loading" for the entire 2nd half of my invites.

I did receive a response that IT would look at it "soon," and they offered a couple band aids which do not give me the real time accessibility needed. I don't understand what "soon" means since we are just shy of 48 hours, and it is not fixed, nor has Customer Service responded to any further emails, or FB message.

Not being able to see, and make connections with my invitees in real time makes the use of this app futile. I am hoping by posting here it will get Punchbowl's attention, they will fix the app asap... after all they are a Tech company. Otherwise, I have a contract for services that are not being performed.

Looking forward to hearing from Punchbowl in reply and then can rate accordingly.

Hi Melissa. I'm sorry you were frustrated. The issue you experienced was a bug, and it has been fixed. When issues like this are discovered, our engineers have to troubleshoot the problem and release a new version of the app, and sometimes this takes time. We hope you'll consider updating your review.

I used the free trial version of Punchbowl to see if it would meet my birthday calendar/birthday card needs.

Likes:
- The birthday calendar works fantastically.
- They let you buy online gift certificates to give with the birthday card.

Hates:
- Their customer service are terrible. TERRIBLE.
The company has a policy for free accounts where you're limited to 10 cards a month. Great deal! I was excited to try their product and then buy a subscription.

Well, despite the company policy, I have only been able to send 8 cards in May and 6 cards in June.

When reaching out to Punchbowl customer service they not only *do not* assist in their company's card policy miscount, they bold face lie to you about their miscount. Both times I wrote them about the lower card limits and both times Punchbowl customer service told me I had actually created and sent cards that do not exist. And let me point out it's not easy to get confused by the company's easy to use interface. It shows you cards sent and when. Very simple to keep track of what you're doing. But Punchbowl customer service will make up cards that are not on your list. "Oh you sent "x" on "yz" date. That's why you can't use our service for the rest of the month."

Punchbowl customer service didn't help me in my inquiry, they actually took it a step further and lied about why they can't help - on two occasions, and then they offered me a discount code to get a subscription... lulz - gtfo here! There is no way I want to pay for subscription with total horse crap customer service. No thank you. I'm going to find and pay for a better subscription elsewhere.

Update:

I didn't misunderstand anything. Nice try. Too bad. I am now paying monthly for Hallmark. Your loss.

It seems this customer misunderstood our digital card send limits, so we want to clarify what we count as a send. With a free account, you can send digital cards to up to 10 recipients per calendar month. The limits on digital cards refer to the number of email addresses and/or phone numbers you send cards to, not the number of different card designs you can send. For example, with a free membership, you can send two different cards to 5 people each or you could send one card to 10 people. This is all explained clearly here: https://help.punchbowl.com/article/306-is-there-a-limit-to-how-many-people-i-can-send-a-digital-card-to
