Psychology Today Reviews Summary

I am appalled at the garbage they are allowed to put out on this. They post a lot of information that goes directly against the constitution and individuals rights.

I happen to live in the same building with a so called professional Therapist listed on this site. Well, this man is a con artist and a junkie for lack of better words. Because of the kind of vetting process they have here, he is able to list himself as a professional therapist / social worker who focuses on seniors.

Again, beware of scam artists looking for preys. I know because I know one who is here.

Every person on their list is either not available, non-existent, or just awful. Horrible site with obviously no proper management.

I found a therapist through Psychology Today that was not a reputable professional. I reached out to them to ask about their vetting process as this person has the "Verified by Psychology Today" logo on their website. They never replied. I believe it's just a free listing anyone can use so buyer beware.

I had a therapy session with a so-called psychotherapist. She was judgemental, insensitive, unprofessional, and extremely rude. As long as the money was involved for her, the rest of me and my mental illness could go to hell for her.

I have used this directory many times and it is a great directory of professionals. Anyone who is looking for help can find help here. Everyone's needs are unique and everyone's personality is unique so you may have to put some effort into finding someone that you "click" with or feel you can relate to, but you will find someone because there are hundreds of great professional therapists on here, all individual and unique. Also, watch out for reviews on here that make blanket negative or destructive statements. Blanket statements are a huge red flag that the person making that blanket statement has no factual information, is highly opinionated and judgmental and likely did not put forth the effort required to be successful in therapy or did not put forth the effort required in finding a therapist that was a good match for them. Good luck and don't give up - there are great therapists on psychology today so this is a great place to start.

Melinda has been seeing my husband and I for addictions counselling. I found her website on google and booked with her. We do our sessions over zoom. I was concerned about doing a zoom session but she's been so so wonderful! The progress we've seen over such a short period of time is amazing. She creates a safe environment for both of us to feel supported and heard. She pinpoints traumas, triggers, and supports us through those by giving us tools and explanations to heal and guide is forward together. We look forward to our sessions with her each week! Thank you Melinda!

I keep calling and asking for an appointment. Everyone keeps saying they cannot put me through to anyone, and to call back. When I call back, the process repeats. No one calls me back. No one talks to me. Is this place even a real therapist connection site, or is it fake? Feels fake...

Found * in Psychology Today. Worst therapist in my community, in my opinion. He lied about me. He flirted with me. He wouldn't try modality I wanted to try unless I paid more money. And he can't handle a crisis. When I was having a crisis a few months ago * abandoned me without referral or closure. If you want to work with what I found to be an incompetent therapist who will likely cause you harm, * is you guy. Otherwise, please keep looking.

Psychology Today's list of referred therapists is serious and reliable. The requirements are reviewed by a team and they do not accept everybody.

First Appointment
April 24, 2021

My first appointment began 18 minutes late, this was not acknowledged. Five minutes into the session, therapist began eating lunch in front of me. Looked at their laptop more than they made eye contact. Was more interested in telling me about the law instead of addressing the reason I came which was to heal from emotional abuse. Session ended with therapist telling me they were not what I needed although their website clearly stated individual therapy. They wrote a few other places down on a scrap of paper that did not include phone numbers. I had waited over a month to get in & if they had asked me more specific questions in the email correspondence setting up the appointment then no ones time would have been wasted.

So I ordered a magazine in January 2021, and so far its the end of April and I haven't got any information about my order not money back. I contacted their support email (which is really hard to find btw) and they responded me few times and I sent them my contacts few times too. At this moment, I'm just being ignored. That's really upsetting that being from another country I have to pay 20$ more for the subscription + I paid full on 18 months subscription, because I thought, oh, I like this topics, the magazine seems reputable and I shouldn't have any problem... Alas, that turned into a total disappointment with disrespectful behavior towards me at the end. While I didn't get nor magazines nor my money back, I will consider it as they stole my money. I want to add the screenshots of my texting with the team, but somehow unable to do it, in any case, I hope such things not to happen to anyone again, so % don't recommend it.

Life-changing help and support!
April 14, 2021

I needed help for anger issues and anxiety, and turned to the Psychology Today site. I've heard that it sometimes takes a few tries to find the right therapist, but I was lucky, and found Lynn Crawford right away. Her gentle, accepting manner put me right at ease, and working with her showed me how to free myself from the cycle of negative and destructive thoughts. I am learning how to understand and accept my emotions, and feel at peace more than I ever have before. If you are anxious, angry or stressed and don't know what to do about it, do yourself a favour and pick up the phone. You'll be glad you did.

Terrible resource
March 26, 2021

I have tried several times on this site to find a therapist. I was hesitant at first because they seem so young. Then the ones I thought looked promising we're not. One never got back to me after we spoke, and another just didn't even answer. This site makes you think there is something wrong with you.

If you are looking for a mental health professional don't use this site. The professionals here falsely advertised their serves and if you get one they are the worst mental health professionals you will ever deal with. I suggest you find one that your insurance have not waste your time using this site.

I tried to convince my husband to do one last attempt at therapy before separation but it was a disaster. The Therapist humiliated me during therapy. I mentioned i was a prostitute at one point during marriage to put food on the table because my husband was unable to work and i had been fired from my job and was desperately looking for work to pay bills and all hell broke lose. Therapist had the nerve to say because i asked my husband if it was okay to escort before i did it i already cheated and its something you don't do. I exclaimed that i did it to put food on the table. While He contacted prostitutes for sex for the fun of it and spent money we did not have. Therapist was silent than i said either way i no longer escort for a year since we are in much of a better place. Therapist exclaimed he did not care and that i still escorted at some point in the marriage. I informed therapist that a marriage exists between two people who are in love and set an agreement between each other. If we agree on what is okay and not okay but the other person is stepping out doing whatever they want without asking permission like what my husband did its flat out wrong. Regardless of whether you consider it cheating or not because i escorted. Therapist was silent. Than during the whole session he basically told us we need to figure out if we want this relationship to be monogamous or be polyamarous and the whole time im like ive been monogamous for a year with him! Theres nothing to figure out. Its like he had this mentality that oh i escorted so im just a whore. I assumed that he wouldn't let his christian/Catholic beliefs cloud his judgement but it did. I left his office with no help for our marriage just made to feel inferior. I will never contact Mark A Kolodziej
ever again in my life! And the messed up part was we had a great day that day and the therapy session ruined our entire mood and possibly any hope for reconciliation.

BE AWARE
November 22, 2020

Hello Everybody,
I have hired two different female counselors in the past few years, non of them helped me and my family achieve on what we needed help with. At the first consultation with both of the "Counselors" they showed concern, interest in helping and made us feel hopeful that our family situation should be much better and solved in a few months to a year.
Well, this was just like a trap, we gave everything we possible could, from in person meetings, emails communications, text messages and phone calls, it quickly turned into a nightmare. The counselor or therapist turned to be very harsh, disrespectful, unprofessional and we left their "office" each and every time feeling horrible and disappointed for the lack of help and disrespect of the counselor with us. One of the counselors is worse than the other, and made us feel and think we were not knowledgeable about anything and that we were guilty for everything.
Yes, this is how these two counselors from psychology today made their daily living. They ROBBED insurance money and cash, for ZERO help.

I am hoping this review will help other innocent people who are in desperate need of immediate help and get cheated and misunderstood by some arrogant, racist and hypocrite counselors and therapists.

May God bless you and your family and I wish you the best when finding the right counselor to help you achieve your needs and goals.

Thanks for reading.

Don't take it seriously. It's not even kind of accurate unless you're looking up BASIC material you could find via Google Search and Wikipedia. Honestly, Wikipedia is a better source.
