“Goody's Handyman Services, Phx. AZ.”

Bill F.
2/8/23

Good News. Recently I had two handyman jobs done by Goody's. Their team was great. They completely satisfied my expectations. I had a double pane slider replacement installed and faucet replacement plumbing work. Both jobs done promptly, within estimate. And clean. I highly recommend their team. I will be using them again soon.

I've been a porch professional for more than 4 years. I stopped using them for lack of quality leads and they enticed me with "verified leads". Those leads were far and few between. I have since stopped using them and have a balance of $350 and they refuse to refund my money. Looking at their current lead opportunities, the nearest lead is 40 miles away. Don't use them. They are withering away, having less and less relevant leads and just don't do what they promise as they pressure you back into re-signing up.

We are a cleaning business registered on their website.
Everytime we see a good lead, we pay for it ($18 each) and we can never get a hold of the person interested in the service.
We call, text and they never answer.
Porch says we need to call to get a refund. As a family owned business we are always busy and I have no time to be talking to a represenrative trying to make me advertise for more money instead of buying individual leads.
This website is not suitable for small business and people should have more concience when posting a request for a job!
Companies like ours are struggling to get more business and wasting the little money we have is unfair.
This month only we lost 36 buying 2 leads and people NEVER answered our calls or message. Done with porch
Porch wont have our business again.

Two years ago I hired a contractor off of Angi and had to sue the contractor Mold Mitigation BY Murphy. I won the lawsuit. I sent a copy of the lawsuit default to Angi band Mold Mitigation By Murphy from their website. Now I see Mold Mitigation BY Murphy on Porch ripping customers off. I sent a copy of the lawsuit default judgement to Porch but they refuse to kick them off of their website.

We have been using Porch for a while, the quality of leads are getting really bad. Non-connection leads are a standard norm for them. If you accidentally leaving a message for the customer for over 60 seconds (some people's voice message is long to begin with), even at 61 seconds, Porch consider it a connection made. My advise is don't waste your time or money on their service. Period!

Tip for consumers:
Don’t waste your time on the leads. The quality of the leads are bad compared to other services we use. If you happen to get a hold of the customer. The customer has been contacted by other lead sources too, so you have not only Porch selling the same leads to 3 contractors, the same lead was also shared with other lead companies. Don’t waste your time or money.

Products used:
Purchased leads from Porch.com. We were on an subscription account that Porch will auto charge our account every 2 weeks to bring back to the set amount. If you happen to leave a 61 second message, even though no connections were made, porch still consider that a connection made.

Hired "handyman" with 44 years experience. Big mistake! Terminated him before project completed because he left us with a huge mess, did not cover anything up while tape, bedding and painting. Had to use our personal dumpster to haul off debris, just not up to standards. Way too expensive for what little result we received. Would not recommend, refer and definitely no hire. Extremely poor rating.

I had a review of another I company I used and gave them a 1 star rating on Porch and Angie's list, well the company and I have since settled our differences. I contacted both sites and asked them to change my rating of the company and delete my previous posts. Home Advisors ( Angie's List) called me within 2 hours of my request and changed my review and deleted my previous post. 5 days later I am still waiting on Porch to do the same. How would you like it if it was your business and you still had a negative review, due to this company?

Inadvertently sent to this company twice. Both times they had the wrong project written down. Received multiple calls for services I didn't ask for. Called me at 7am 4x in a row. 2 reps hung up on me as soon as I stated I wasn't interested. Call center tried to get me to an agreement to receive additional solicitations for other "related" services. Received multiple calls after saying no to this. Stay as far away from this service as possible.

I bought properly 10 leads from these guys not one of them has panned out and every single time I purchased one I have to spend 45 minutes on the phone with them trying to get a refund. And half of them if you actually get a hold of somebody which is rare. There's not even any job to be had. I think they're just playing the numbers and hope they don't have to refund everybody when they send out fake leads they're probably killing it. Avoid like the plague

I entered into a contract with MovingPlace, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Porch.com. I paid them nearly $5,000 to have a container dropped off at my house on a Friday so that we could load it with movers on Saturday then have it picked up on Monday.

On Friday afternoon, they inform me that the carrier they are working with (and note this well--they work with carriers instead of doing it themselves, meaning you're paying more) wouldn't deliver the container that day. Then they guaranteed it would come the next day, Saturday. I confirmed with them multiple times that it would arrive. Lo and behold, once again I get a call that they would not deliver it on Saturday and would not get it until Monday.

Well I canceled all of my movers and that cost money, and then I moved everything outside myself over hours and hours of labor, and now it's going to rain between now and Monday when they're finally claiming they're going to drop off the container.

Porch. Coom and it's subsidiary MovingPlace are not reliable and should be avoided at all costs. Contract directly with the carriers at issue.

I never signed up for their service or to receive advertisements. My home inspection company gave my info to these people without my permission. Now porch continues to harass me even after I requested (twice) to be removed from their call list. What a pathetic way to try to drum up business! Really makes me trust them a lot, you think? Why would anyone use these unethical middle-men who pocket the hard earned money of their subcontractors? Hire a handyman directly, don't use these rip-off services who make their money by overcharging you and underpaying their subcontractors.

The contractor missed the 9:00 appointment. He called and rescheduled for 11:30. He arrived after 12:00. He then left the job because he did not have a stud finder and went to get one. He was gone for over an hour. When he returned he mounted the TV successfully, but spent hours trying to run the cord through the wall, which he eventually gave up on. Then he charged my elderly mother $203 when Porch had quoted $118. As you might expect, I am furious.

We had porch lawn services for two years, typically Spring through Fall and would put on pause during the winter. The contractors they use for lawn services switched almost every appointment and never showed up the day they were supposed to. They were consistently 2-3 days late. Having my lawn cut on a specific day was never a huge deal so we let it slide but my recent interaction with them has caused me to write this review and to make the decision to never use any of porch's services. I called in to reactive my lawn service for Spring through Fall this year, was given an exact start date and thought all was done, set to auto bill with bi-weekly service. Day of appointment comes, and guess who doesn't show up? You guessed it, Porch once again. So I call in to ask where my contractor is and find out they never reactivated my service and that it would take another 2 weeks to get someone to come out! Unbelievable... the incompetence is truly mind blowing.

Porch
What: Porch promises to connect contractors of all stripes — cabinet makers, plumbers, electricians, painters, movers, locksmiths — with clients looking for specific services

Expected pay: varies

Husl$core: $$
Commissions & fees: Contractors pay between $10 – $30 for leads, plus $360 a year, if they want to be "vetted pros" to rise in the search results

Where: Nationwide

Requirements: none specified

Review:
Porch is one of several online platforms that promises to connect contractors of all types — woodworkers, plumbers, electricians, handymen, painters, locksmiths, etc. — with clients. However, contractors complain that the site sends worthless leads, for which they pay anywhere from $10 to $30, depending on the job. And getting a credit for these leads is difficult, if not impossible.

The site promises that if you become a "vetted pro" at an additional cost of $360 that Porch will automatically credit your account if you buy a lead and are unable to connect with the client after multiple attempts. (Specifically, if you call the consumer twice and message twice, with no response, you get a credit. But there are no cash refunds for leads.)

Vetted pros must pass an annual background check that looks for criminal activity. Otherwise, there are no specific requirements. Renewal is automatic.

We attempted to reach several of the professionals that give testimonials on the Porch website. None returned our phone calls. We consider that — and the BBB complaints — a red flag.

In addition, when we tested the site as a consumer, it provided a deceptively cheap estimate. There aso was no way to look at contractor profiles, giving clients no way to direct where your lead was going. In our view, the site's system generates maximum income for Porch with minimum benefit to both contractors and clients.

Better options for contractors can be found with ToolBelt, JiffyOnDemand and the ManagedbyQ partner network.

What their users say (from Indeed)
This is a very nice place to start off as a handyman you make good money per hour it all depends on how many jobs you take that's how much you make you can make a lot of money or you can make a little bit of money it all depends on your experience.

From the Better Business Bureau
Porch.com "baits" its contractors with a promise of great customer service, vetted leads, and a refund policy if anything is wrong. All of that could not be further from the truth. For my company, we are going to look into if there is an avenue for legal action against Porch.com for the thousands of dollars we have wasted over the recent two years.

Porch.com not only sends out fake leads, I have proof that they do. I contacted a customer for painting services that supposedly they needed. I finally got in contact with the person. Their exact words in text form: I don't know who porch is…I did not request any painting to be done. My name is not ***. Its *****. Porch not only had the name wrong but the gender of the person as well. This has happened to me with porch over and over again I have spent over 400.00 in fake leads.

Company is sending bad leads, charging from $10 to $28 dollars for each lead. Most of the time you don't qualify for refunds.

Out of probably 100 leads I was sent I haven't had 1 legitimate customer.

Their "cancellation department" seems to never be available. I tried calling several times at different times of the day. They just kept charging my credit card and giving me the run around. I have disputed the charges and feel confident that they will be removed, but still what company does this?!? I dug into the company and they laid off half of their employees last year…not a good sign. Spend your money elsewhere…

I have requested a refund on the $$$'s I have spent on their so-called qualified referrals only to hear that my requests are denied due to refund policies.

SUGGESTED OPTIONS.

I did a job for porch services, and I was told that I would not be paid for my services rendered, because the customer did not want to pay porch services, hence I would not be paid! This is the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of working with, contractors and 1099 workers STAY AWAY from this company they will send you to a job and then if the customer does not pay them, you will have wasted your time, fuel and energy doing a job and never see a dime for your efforts!

I would agree with your assessment, I called a "potential " customer from porch.com and he told me that he took a survey online, the ad he answered was "are your windows older than 5 years, you may qualify for free windows " That is a terrible way to get people interested and a terrible lead for a contractor

Your comment is awaiting moderation.

I had been with porch and canceled my enrollment as a contractor because the leads were either out of my area, out of my scope of work, or were unresponsive….and those that were sent were far and few between.

They convinced me to sign up for "vetted leads" and that proved fruitless as well.

I asked for my $350 balance/ deposit to be refunded, and they refused.

There are no leads in my area, so I can't even try to spend it down.

As a professional, I would recommend staying away from this porch, as far as you can. DO NOT GET SUCKED IN. It's worse than signing up for a gym membership. It least those you can cancel and not have to walk away from your money

I need my storage shed in my backyard repaired. I contacted Porch.com and had two contractors, Daniel and Josh, contact me both using the same number. Daniel quoted me without even seeing pictures of my storage. After I objected to this and sent him pictures he said he couldn't see what the problem was. The pictures were very clear of the damage to be the storage but he said he needed to come to my house to give me an estimate and he wanted me to provide my debit card number and pay $59 before he came out. I didn't know him from the man in the mirror and cancelled the appointment. Contractor Josh texted me and said he would like to talk to me more about the project. When I called the number the person that answered the phone for Porch.com said he did not know Josh so that made me a little leery. I can understand Porch.com having one number and but when a contractor contacts you they should leave their company number not the general number for Porch.com. Needless to say I haven't heard from Josh again. From no one at Porch.com I guess because I didn't want to give them my card number.
