“Fantastic service with additional work”

Alexxander S.

Quoted work for just gas related things, then had a plumbing issue the night before. Thwy added that to the job and made my day better, all within original cost estimate + parts costs. Friendly engineer happy to explain and talk through it all, so o feel i understand what has been done and why it's been done. Will definitely use again if i face other gas or plumbing concerns, especially as the plumbing bit was added the same day they came out.

“Terrible company”

We reported a boiler error F2,F3,L1 with the company Plumbingforce. A technician initially advised replacing the fan to sort the problem. Charge: Inspection + New fan for a total of £607.02. However, an hour later, the problem persisted. Upon reaching out to the company due to the one-year warranty, the technician revisited, suggesting a different issue and said it could be something else which he didn't know unless he fully assess, an additional 6 hours of inspection at £144/hour. We contacted customer service and they declined responsibility. Now, we're without a boiler, facing a cost of = £607.02 + Visit 15 minutes: £144 Total: -£751.02.

Horrendous. Sent the wrong type of engineer, without experience on an oil boiler. All that needed fixing was a two port value, subsequently broke entire system. Hung around for three hours whilst I was working, so the company attempted to charge my account AGAIN for the pleasure of breaking the system, despite me not signing out the job as completed. Absolutely fraudulent. My family is currently sitting in a cold house, waiting for another company on an emergency call out to fix it.

Worse company!
The engineer is a fraud
Did not properly check and made incorrect diagnosis of the issue misleading me to agree on replacing the entire panel for the boiler. Not answering relevant questions, being dismissive. I finally did not commision them
And guess what another engineer did the job in 10 min without needing to replace the panel of the boiler. My complaint is still not handled

I gave 1 ppint just because I can't give -5. My encounter with PlumbingForce while seeking to install a gas hob and left me greatly dissatisfied. Despite an initial agreement to charge by work hours, I was charged £118.80 upfront for a job that wasn't done. The engineer's mere assessment led to a new quote of £410 + VAT, shifting from hourly charges to a total job cost. This abrupt change, combined with no refund for the advance payment, has left me feeling like a victim of a potential scam.

They quote one fee. Grossly overcharge, then try to extort further sums to complete your job. Blatantly lie about how time was spent on jobs. Avoid.

I found Plumbing Force using Google.

I told the woman on the phone I needed a plumber to come and tell me if a dishwasher could be installed. She said it would be a minimum of 1 HOUR'S WORK at £118 and that she would email me the T&Cs. She did not e-mail me the T&Cs.

The plumber turned up with a bad attitude and was so rude and disrespectful, I told him to leave within 2 minutes. He clearly did not want to be here, and seemed completely clueless as to why he was here. He said: 'you might as well let me do the work, your gonna get charged anyway mate'. He made £118 in two minutes for no work. Not a bad scam. The narrative on his invoice is complete lies.

I called and made a complaint and requested a refund and was told that they sent me a text message (T&Cs), which I never received. I said that on the phone I was told they would be emailed, but I never received them. Anyway, I didn't agree to their T&Cs. Ridiculous to suggest they were agreed. That is clearly what they do, they will tell you, you have agreed things that you did not. That way they make a quick £118 a time. Pretty good con or is it Plumbing Force just using Force.

This is a scam in my opinion. What they are claiming is essentially a call-out charge (disguised as a minimum hour's work). They take your pre-payment credit card details in advance (do not give them your card details in advance) and they will take the payment of £118 without your consent, even if no work is done.

They also record phone calls but do not tell you that they are recording your phone calls in advance. What reputable company does that? I doubt they are conplying with Data Protection laws. Since providing them with my mobile number, I have received numerous prank calls. They deny leaking my number.

In my opinion, this is a very dodgy company that should be investigated by Trading Standards and the ICO. I bet they have made a mint with this £118 a time call out charge scam.

They say they have been trading for 10 years, but are not even CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering) accredited.

"Anyone working on just pipework such as fitting bathrooms, sinks, drainage or taps does not need to be registered or accredited to any standard, however it is highly recommended that at the very least they are CIPHE Accredited, as this ensures that they follow a code of professional standards and protects you the customer should you have any cause for concern after the work has been carried out."

Look at all the other 1 star reviews recently.

I will claim my money back via my credit card dispute resolution process. Daylight robbery this is.

Tip for consumers:
Terrible company. Will take your money and not provide a service.

Robbing and incompetent. DO NOT USE. Called out to identify and fix a leak. Paid £1600 for work to be carried out. Leak not fixed and found out later work was unnecessary. Charged another £350 to actually fix the leak. Then they just took additional money (~£200) out of my bank account without authorisation or issuing an invoice. Do not give them your bank details. Avoid at all costs.

I did my gas safety survey with them, it said boiler was ok... when I move to the property three days later gas boiler doesn't work and they ask me for 100 quid more to come and repair it. The manager has the worst manners, speaking over me, not letting me speak, aggressive. Really bad experience with them...

Challenging as not quite a scam but very much taking the proverbial. Arrived late after booking. Told one story then tried to charge excessive prices to fix an issue they said was simple. I'll fall short of saying they are disingenuous but their honesty leaves a lot to be desired. Avoid and go local

I've had a once of the worst customer experiences with plumbingforce. I asked for a gas safety certificate, after being let down with Engineer not showing on the first day, he turned up and turned the gas off, claiming there was a leak and quoting £1140 to put right. I said I'd get a second opinion when phoning the reception, when I did, they said it's all fine and turned gas back on. At this point I'm a lot of money out of pocket and still no certificate. On making a complaint, I had to chase several times to get a reply to the complaint, over 3 weeks later plumbingforce are not willing to reimburse me for the money to get the gas turned back on. They said their engineer had faulty equipment but that they won't pay for the money this caused me as a result of their faulty equipment. Never use this company. Awful service at every stage.

Awful experience, avoid this company at all costs! I paid £30 for a plumber to attend my house to give me a quote, he was rushed and kept telling me he needed to leave and would send my quote the same day. Instead, later that day my card was charged £426 without my authorisation.

I then spent 3 hours of my time calling Plumbing Force customer service to establish why this was taken and get my money back. Customer service was poor, and it took me 5 days to have my money refunded. After this I sent in a complaint and received an incredibly rude and unapologetic response, and I was then ignored. A nightmare and no remorse from Plumbing Force for the issue they caused.

This company turned up and completed the work in less than 1 hour, the engineer left and sat in their van until it had been 1 hour 13 minutes since arrival. They have now charged me (£80) for this time sat outside doing nothing!

When challenged they showed me a signature that isn't even mine saying that confirmed I 'accepted' that as the departure time. When you complain you get a faceless email with no names.

Absolute jokers and scammers. I'd avoid at all costs if I could. Sadly now I can't, and I'm £2000 worse off for a job that should have cost £400. I'm gutted, mortified, embarrassed that I fell for it, but mostly heartbroken that this has happened just before christmas and my children are now going to have a very different Christmas to the one we hoped. I feel such an idiot. PLEEEASE DONT USE THEM! It's too late for me, but run if you can!

This business was contacted by the care team responsible for my elderly mother in law, whose full time carer had reported a failure of the domestic cold water supply.
An engineer attended the same day and replaced the ballcock in the cold water storage tank. All good. Then the invoice, with no breakdown of costs, other than specifying 2hrs labour………to change a ballcock?
Total charge, as the title says, £450.
Obviously I requested a more detailed invoice, nil response, requested again, got the original invoice again. I then raised a complaint with customer services re the invoice. Emails have subsequently been exchanged.
It was abundantly clear, from his responses, that the after sales manager, a Jake Hayley, did not read my emails.
He offered a partial refund by way of a "goodwill gesture," which has not been paid.
He then subsequently claimed the £450 cost was a fixed price charge and therefore a detailed invoice could not be provided. He included a newly made up invoice to support this claim, apparently forgetting that the original invoice was already in the email chain! The original is shown below.
It looks to me as though someone took the opportunity to grossly inflate the charge for a simple job and then when questioned, attempted to cover up after the fact.
On that basis I would suggest looking elsewhere for a plumber.

Update.
Following the review I had a request for more information from customer service……. A different representative this time. I directed her to the conversation with the first representative rather than repeat the whole saga again.
Guess what? Not a squeak in the subsequent month.

Called to get a quote. The lady was just about to say £89+VAT as advertised on website and emailed to me and then quoted £99+VAT saying the site 'hadn't been updated yet'. This is wrong as the price shown should have been honoured.

I requested a visit simply to replace a "Saniflo". The cost of the unit was £475. The price quoted for fitting is was £1,100. To be fair, the engineer was clearly embarrassed and courteous but the rip-off was clear beyond doubt or quistion.

23rd Feb 2022 Very unreliable. DO NOT USE. Booked an appointment, was given a 4 hour slot. Travelled an hour to my sons house and waited for 4 hours for them to show up. Then at the last minute, a phone call saying sorry plumber was delayed and asking to re-appoint the following day. Then exactly the same same again. Waited for 4 hours and then another call asking to move to the next day. Unacceptable.

Charged £1800 to supply and replace existing shower. Cost of shower £700 from Mira. The engineer did a good job fitting it and spent less than 4 hours to fix. Existing plumbing was used. The customer service is diabolical and refused to issue an invoice that broke down the cost of materials and labour. We believe that the labour charge was for a complete fit and not replace. Management were very rude and would not budge. Disgusted and definitely would not recommend.

Called this company who made booking and took my card details.
On the day in question I waited in for the first 2 hours of my 4 hour window and nothing. Rang to check I was still in queue and was told yes,.
Time passed and I answered a call from Plumbing Force to tell me they couldn't honour my booking and could arrive Monday. This was not possible for me so I cancelled. They have since charged my card for the full amount
And made no effort to correct the problem.

Sent a unprofessional plumber sent 3 hours on the site, but most of the time on the phone seems like asking help. Didn't fix in the end, but still talking over £350 from my bank. Called the company already, just asking me send it with email there is nothing they can do, it's company police. No wonder they have to take card details from the start. Otherwise they know no one is going to pay for nothing. Please avoid this company. Trust Me, otherwise u will just become next victim

I had two engineers that turned up (when it was supposed to be one), they said I would only be charged for ONE but later charged me for TWO! Turned out they were father and son!

Gave me a price for the job before it even got completed (they were supposed to be charged hourly).

Overpriced and deceiving, wouldn't recommend.

Got the rest of the work done for a fraction of the price I paid for them.

This company charges over the odds for all elements of their quote. They charge £1,200 per day for labour. They charged me £1,800 for just under 8 hours work. How does that equate to 1.5 days?
They charge £500 for additional 5 years extended warranty when the boiler manufacturer already provides 7-year free warranty if boiler installation is done by one of their approved installers; and PlumbingForce engineers are approved by this supplier. So effectively, I paid £500 extra for an additional 3-year warranty.
The boiler unit with flue and additional kit costs less than £1,700 including vat. When you factor in supplier discount to PlumbingForce, its much less than that. PlumbingForce refuse to provide a copy of the original invoice from the boiler supplier for my records.
They charged me £4,080 to install my boiler when several quotes like for like with exact same qualifications, certifications and same 10-year warranty came to £2,000.
The gas engineer did not plug a leak in the filter at the end of day 1 leaving our hallway carpet wet. Had we not noticed, it would have been a disaster. He also did not ask for a vacuum to clean up the mess in the hallway. Very unprofessional.
Finally, the current operations manager Michelle is very rude. She was very rude and curt on the phone. She does not respond to emails and when she does, she deliberately, sometimes, replies in CAPS, to shout back. She has at the time of typing failed to answer all my questions. There is no point sending emails to their enquiries email. She is one of the people responding to emails received, expect nothing short of extremely poor customer service.
If you need a gas combi boiler installed with a 10-year warranty for a 3-bedroom house, it should cost you no more than £2,000. Shop around online, get a few quotes, speak to the boiler manufacturer/ supplier about the warranties available. Remember, a gas engineer hourly rate is about £60 per hour, even in London, so a day rate should not be more than £480 (£576 if they are vat registered). A boiler should not take more than 8 hours for installation by one engineer.
Do not make the mistake I made, do not pay double the amount required. Get your quotes in and Do NOT USE PlumbingForce Ltd.
