Plagiarism Detect

I checked the article in plagiarism detect, and it shown me 6% of plagiarism. However, when I submitted this paper to the university, their plagiarism scanner shown almost 30% of plagiarism. I wouldn't recommend anyone to use plagiarismdetect.com as because of it inefficiency.

PlagiarismDetect.com started as a test service. The IT team has developed an algorithm for plagiarism scan, and the investors made it real for the project to start its life. A year after the algorithm has been updated, allowing the system to use SMART multi-layered system, which helps to detect even the slightest plagiarism issues. In October 2012 PlagiarismDetect has been updated again, with a new pricing system which makes the service available for anyone. A free trial is available, so anyone can make sure that PlagiarismDetect.com is more than useful not only for students, but for bloggers, webmasters and educational institutions. The previous review dates back to 2011, long before the changes have been implemented. Try it, and leave your feedback.

Following the trend, I started checking my writing for plagiarism (when you do your own writing - it's great, but you can never be sure that someone else hasn't written it just like you before). I didn't hope to find an effective plagiarism checker for free, so I've decided to check a few websites offering trials... one of the top results showed this website offering both trial and payed accounts. I checked my article (no plagiarism found which I was quite happy about:-)) and then played with copy pasting to find out if the program is really effective. Results:

+user friendly
+nice design
+ability to check content right from MS Word

-easy to fool
-does not show all of the plagiarized areas
-constantly restricts you for you to get a paid account
-seems to be associated with a writing firm (you don't know if the content you submit is not used/sold to third parties)

Overall: can be used for simple/easily detectable plagiarism. That's it. A pretty 'toy' - not a professional tool for writers and editors.

Just dropping by to say how impressed I am. As a Mass Comm student, it helps me maintain quality papers for studywork. I've tried a number of free and paid plag checker tools before but so far, this works best for me. Best of luck to everyone fighting plagiarism!
