Really like and can learn from great people at pixoto
I am an amateur and Pixoto gives me the opportunity to realistically see my qualities in relation to other members, as well as to improve my knowledge of photography.
Scott was able to address an ongoing situation with my account. He is extremely helpful & personable.
I use pixoto for a long time and it's enough to give me a lot of experience and also references from other photographers.
Love it, always nice to see the creativity of other photographers
Exciting and interesting to get my pictures in comparison with others
Pixoto is a fun way to get your photos out in the world, see how they compare to others from users of all skill levels.
Quality products, fast production, shipping with tracking number, and full refund if not satisfied with product. Would recommend for anyone looking for quality prints
Pixoto is great site for very interesting photo competition. You can also buy some excellent photos. I really enjoy using this site.
I've ordered several images printed on canvas and products that arrived were beautifully done. Also very big selection of stunning images to choose from
This is a very good site for competition in photography, to see the opinion of potential customers about my work, but also to buy photos from talented people from around the world!
I tried this site on and off for several years to try to accurately assess my photography skill and always ended dissatisfied with results. It's ok for free but don't bother paying for a subscription. The voting is skewed and probably manipulated for favored participants. Don't believe the claim that the algorithm is fair. I also have a Viewbug account that has a more experienced and creative clientelle. I trust viewbug more for and honest opinion of my work. Pixoto will leave you bitter and empty. The recent image that I attached was winning duels against much higher rated photos then lost against lesser rated poorer quality photos. Makes no logical sense other than rigged voting.
In theory their voting system is the fairest I have seen for comparing and ranking images. In reality is doesn't work well. You have to have spent money with them or have a facebook account you are prepared to link with them to be able to vote and still much of the voting seems random or even perverse. I have seen several images with obviously fake and badly positioned water reflections become part of their all time top 1% - so ridiculous I suspect the system is being gamed.
Compared to other photo sites it doesn't have a lot of users and seems to be in decline. My overall verdict - don't bother.
Get ready to upload your best shots! Then, see all of them 'losing votes' for iPhone pics of naked ladies in the mirror, random landscapes and a lot of out of focus stuff. Most the "Pic of the Day" awards are merely a note that you got a lot of votes against the selfies avalanche and in fact, you´re awarded with 0$ for it. Their "weekly money awards" happens only when you have tons of users competing and, naturally, a good sponsor (what is really not happening frequently, considering their 1 star review everywhere).
AH! Don´t forget that if you are with a #1 pic on any category, there´s a team of users [most of them based somewhere in Asia] ready to report your pic as 'wrong category' or something else and, naturally, Pixoto team moves it out of the contest, e-mail you asking if you are the real author/user, and whatever else absurd you can imagine.
This is the only contest site that you can upload 10x or more the same photo on the same contest and nothing happens if your 'friends' from distant lands don´t report your pics. Dreaming with photo contests, for real? Go to a museum, gallery, but avoid Pixoto.
Answer: Its the first I tried, and I've enjoyed comparing my pics to other around the world. And seeing all the great pics, help me improve my game.
Answer: Hello Ruth, contest and category image score are completely different and calculated differently and do not influence and relate one to another. Contest score is calculated from imageduels between your image and other images in the contest you entered it to, while category imagescore (numbers you wrote here) is calculated solely from duels between your image and other images in the category. That means that one image can have vastly different imagescore in category and imagescore in the contest - first, because it dueled different images and second because different users voted on duels. We hope this helps.
