“Petsmart is a one-stop shop for all my pet care needs.”

Nat G.

Petsmart is a one-stop shop for all my pet care needs. The store offers a wide range of products, from food and toys to grooming supplies and veterinary services. I appreciate the knowledgeable staff who are always willing to offer advice and assistance. The grooming salon is convenient for keeping my pets looking their best, and the loyalty program offers additional savings and perks

“Expired FOOD! Watch out”

Liz C.
2/14/24

Used Petsmart auto ship for dog food. Just received 2 bags where I noticed the best used by date was April 2023! It's February 2024. That is disgusting so will never purchase from Petsmart as a company who can sell you something all most a year past fresh date. Stay away from Petsmart they are poisoning our pups!

I set an appointment for a grooming for my dog Baloo, it was to be a a bathing, teeth and nails. I'm highly disappointed after spending $63 from a corporations and to pick up my dog smelling the same as I dropped him off.

I had an issue with Petsmart and a cancelled order, and I was given the runaround for the past month. I still haven't received my refund from it. Petsmart customer service hasn't a clue about how to treat customers. Every customer service agent and supervisor I spoke with told me something different. Emails from Petsmart say something different than what customer service says. It is irritating and extremely frustrating to speak with people who don't know how the process of a refund works.

Tip for consumers:
That you better be sure you want to order online, because speaking with Petsmart online customer service is the equivalent of speaking with those who give lectures on the virtues of pink tutus for elephants.

We have been getting our 4 lb dog groomer at the Clifton Park Petsmart in New York for years. We just had the last one Friday April 28th and we're extremely disappointed with all the hustles coming out of there. Here's the story.

We pay for nail grinding and grooming like we always do. We get the dog back and are told they could t grind her nails because she was being 'difficult'. How difficult can a 4lb dog be? Precedence shows this has never been an issue. Okay… fine, you've changed groomers and they're not as experienced. Then we see a charge for the dog 'being difficult'. What? So here's a dog that has come to this store for years and spontaneously is being difficult so you first don't complete the job and then you charge us some ridiculous charge for it? And then the audacity to 'encourage' tipping. This country has gotten out of control with tipping but it isn't the service persons fault. Corporations want to 'reduce expense' so they, which include restaurants and now these types of institutions, pay their service personnel nothing and force the responsibility for earnings to tips. What greed. So coming back to Petsmart; not only did you degrade your service, you added some 'difficult' gimmick charge AND you want tips? Enough is enough. This was a poor experience and one that used to be a good one for us. It points to greed in all fronts.

I am reviewing petsmarts website. It seems to be set up to scam you out of points. THEY ADVERTISE THIS AND THAT, BUT SINCE YOU CANT LOG INTO SITE YOUR POINTS GO UNNOTICED, AND YOU ARE UNAWARE. ALSO THERE IS NOWHERE ON THE WEBSITE TO CHECK THEM. CAGEY.

Tip for consumers:
Website is dodgy, buy things without getting credit.

I recently moved to the area and called Petsmart to ascertain some pricing on grooming. The lady I spoke with was short, unknowledgeable and a complete frustration to speak to. She first quoted me $42 for my 5lb yorkiepoo. As I tried to make the appt, she input the info, and told me the system wouldn't allow her to put in Yorkiepoo. She then told me it would be $64 instead of $42, an additional $15 for an "express" appt because I told her I planned to stay there and watch. She originally told me I couldn't watch, but then changed her story and said it'd be $15 extra. I originally told her (before her upping the price from $42 to $64) I'd take the next available appt, which happened to be Friday. Well, apparently Friday, Saturday or Sunday appts are an additional $5. She explained the jump in price as the "$42 was just a rough estimate". I became so frustrated with her, I just hung up. I went online to attempt to do it myself and see what came up. Yorkipoo was most definitely an option, but she had already created my dog's profile under my name and it now won't let me change anything on it. So I called the store back and asked to speak to a manager, still in completed frustration mode. Because I stated I wanted to try to call back and talk to someone that wasn't being an $#*! to me, he said he would help me but "he didn't need the language." Really? Are you 12 to be so offended by the word $#*!? There are ppl who have moved to this area from all over and for many northerners the word f&*k is part of their everyday language, but you're going to get attitude with me because I depicted how the lady was talking to me by the word $#*!. So he put me on hold to get somewhere he could help me, but as I thought about it, I just hung up and I'll take my hard earned money and precious dog somewhere else. Somewhere that isn't such a pansy and actually appreciates their customers and their business. I'll also be looking to buy my dog food for my 4 dogs elsewhere as well. Petsmart will lose all my business.

I took my dog to petsmart for a grooming after the pandemic had shut down groomers for a few months. He needed grooming badly is why I took him back because my previous experience with them was dissatisfying but I had been a loyal customer for 4 plus years. I dropped him off and within ten minutes of leaving I was called and told to come pick him up.? Was told to bring him back the next day. This was a Sunday. When I arrived I was given an appointment for Wednesday and they wanted my dog who's body was shaved unevenly and face that was never touched ( he looked like a little lion) to stay that way until Wednesday. He's a shih tzu. I was told that the dog needed a break. I was absent 10 minutes. Needless to say. NEVER AGAIN

I have a dog and three cats so at least weekly I'm buying canned food, dry food, and/or dental treats. I buy most of these items at the grocery store or Chuck 'n' Don's, a pet store. I shop at PetSmart occasionally. I get e-mails from PetSmart at least weekly. Often the e-mail is about a special discount. Customers could print off the coupon and present it to the clerk while checking out (I don't have a smart phone so unable to show the e-mail with coupon info to the clerk) or can order online, enter the code to get the discount, and pick up at the store.

A few months ago I decided to try the online order and then pick up. However, when I entered the code, it wouldn't be accepted or I got an error message (don't recall exactly since it was a while ago). I tried multiple times with the same result. I looked at the fine print on the coupon to see if there were restrictions. If I recall, I ended up printing the coupon and going to the store.

On 5/22 I got an e-mail from PetSmart advising that I could get $10 off on a $40 purchase of "merchandise or pet services." I've been having problems with my printer so wouldn't be able to print the coupon and shop in the store. I decided to order online. I buy Greenies for large breeds and try to get the 34-count, if available. That retails at PetSmart for about $50, so I would be well over the $40 minimum. And, that count was in stock. Yet, when I was ready to check-out online, I entered the coupon code and got a message saying that it was not valid for my order. I double checked that I had entered the code correctly (I had). I re-entered it and got the same message. I then clicked on the coupon icon to see if there were any restrictions on what the coupon could be used for and found none. I even started over with my order but got the same result.

There was an 800 # for customer service so I called that. I, of course, got an outgoing message and was surprised to learn that the office I contacted was in Canada. There was a reference made to Canadian stores. I live in Minnesota which borders Canada but, last I heard, we were still part of the good old USA. I hung on for about 10 minutes, waiting for a live person, and then hung up in disgust.

Anyway, I will no longer try to order online. If there are good sales on items I would buy, I would still shop in the store but, as I mentioned, I don't shop there that often.

If you believe in "pet psychiatrists" or "dog whisperers" then Pet-not so-Smart is the store/website for you. If $45 chew toys or $28 mice filled with catnip are your thing then this store/website is for you. If you have respect for yourself and REALLY hate throwing away your hard earned money on an overpriced store/website then this is NOT the store for you. Stick with Amazon, they even deliver it to your house in two days. No more walking up and down aisles that smell like your kids dead hamsters cage. No more asking clueless employees who have degrees in Liberal Arts and no NOTHING about pets.....or smarts ;)

This company knowingly sells pet food that literally kills animals. I have had one cat die, and the cause was a blockage of food in his intestines.

Dont go to the dog training. You will waste your money. You keep your dog on the leash and the trainer would tell you what you should try at home. Most of the time they try to sell their products instead of training the dogs.

Went online and was told my dog's food was out of stock but to try stores. So I go into a store, with the list my vet gave me of the top 5 brands to get. 2 of which are only sold in 50lb bags which I really didn't want to get since my husky is very picky and might not have eaten either one. The other 3 I was told aren't made anymore, which made me feel very stupid, until I went to walmart the next day and found 2 sitting there both in 5lb bags which I bought both. This place is truly PetStupid!

Walked into their girls bathroom and there was poop on the toilet seat and walls and smells so gross! My advice would be to just hold it or go to another store, if you go to the one at Shadowlake shopping Center Towne Parkway Papillion NE. They apparently don't have anyone that cleans the bathrooms. BATHROOMS SHOULD BE CLEANED!

Will price match to other competitors which is nice. But the store locally pressured me into buying the new puppy coupon booklet, I believe it was 20 dollars, and then notified me that after purchasing it they only had a few of the items that they offered in the book and didn't have any of the training or the micro-chips or a lot of the merchandise. I left feeling like I had been scammed out of 20 dollars.

Good product selection, but very high prices. PetSmart wants to operate with high margins and make the consumer carry the burden of paying for inefficient operating costs.

I started my pets on products that were healthy and were the most quantity for price. It's a PetSmart only product for both dogs and cats. We have had our dog kids go over the rainbow. Our cats are caught up in a product change. One cannot, without warning and planning, on the pets side, just switch foods. One of their Simply Nourish dry cat food products is being dropped. You can't switch their food overnight. The Aurhority canned flaked turkey cannot be purchased at this time except for on the shelf supplies. So, tell the cat no. It understands well. Throws up good, too, when you make overnight changes, without slow introductions. Not including there is now an increase in cost by a reduction in the size of the size of the can.
My income is fixed. If the price continues it current escalation, I can't afford my pets.
This is why pets are surrendered. This is what affects the feral cat situation and the neglect of dogs and cats.
PetSmart is not for pets, but for their pocket book.

The best thing about this place is the fact that you can bring your animal in with you and sometimes you can find things you cant find anywhere else. You will pay dearly for it but they do usually have it!
