I don't Even know where to start with peoples Jewelers in Masonville place and the manager Maria... Just terrible. I have since read so many reviews speaking of Maria and how she does not have the capability of being a manager. Nor does she understand the importance of customer service. I can 100% agree with ALL negative reviews.
I have my inspections done every 6 months as per warranty. Ive never missed one in 9 years.
I have been dealing with Maria ( the manager) since May 2023 for my wedding ring that was missing a prong.
I went in April for 6 month inspection and they informed me that a prong was missing. They said they'd send it out and repair missing prong and re tip 22 additional prongs. ( Only 1 was missing). I thought ok I trust them. I've had no issues at this point - Not even during the pandemic! I was given the repair # to track its progress. Upon 4 weeks it was due back and online still said repair in progress. I called to check in. No answer most of the time. One time i got the rudest lady on the phone saying we will call you when its in! I contacted customer service online. They didn't know any info other than what i could see and contacted manager for me. That's when I was placed with Maria...
I found out all repairs are sent to BC and over 5 weeks to complete and had NO tracking info. Previously it was toronto. Why BC - I have no idea.
After another week and a half - I finally had my wedding ring back on my finger. It was perfect.
One week later after having it back- I noticed the prong was gone again! It took over a month via customer service online to email the manager to call me because nobody answered the phone. They couldn't give me the email address due to privacy reasons. Like I asked for store email not her personal email! She calls me finally and has no idea what's going on - claiming she got an email to call me. Maria made an appt with me Aug 2! 2 months after I first complained about the prong missing. ( 6 month guarantee of warranty repair)
We go in Aug 2 at 4 per her " personal appointment ". She starts off by " what can I help you with? " I literally had to explain the whole thing to her AGAIN as to why I was there. Then she blames it on me for wearing my wedding ring and that it was normal wear and tear. I'm like one week? More like poor workmanship and I assured her that I understand it's not her fault as she didn't fix it in the first place but to take this long and have no tracking info! Was just obsurd.
She passed us off to some other lady in the store to take pics and submit a new repair #.
Then continues to tell me the more you send in a ring the more porous it becomes and fragile and suggested to NOT wear jewelry all the time. Who the heck gets married and doesn't want to wear a wedding ring let alone brag it around as most are beautiful!
Maria also felt the need to PUSH us to upgrade my rings to something newer but must be twice the amount paid originally 9 years ago and re buy the warranty protection! I said excuse me! This is my wedding ring! Why would I want to replace it! She said they offer a one time straight exchange if the jewler finds it defective. - She looks in her system and continues to say the ring isn't available anymore and back to suggesting an upgrade. I said why would I even have to pay for a new warranty program when it's not my fault your jewelry is defective and don't offer a ring from 9/10 years ago!?!?! She kept saying old warranty would be void with a new UPC code. They should at least give a free warranty if that's the case.
As angry as I was - I re signed papers authorizing a re do of the repair as it needed to be done clearly... Maria promised me a rush order on it for Aug 9. Once the 9th came. I looked online and the ring says in transit to repair centre and the due date was August 16 now. I emailed Maria ( I have the email from a previous email she had sent me) asking where is my ring what's happening?. No reply. August 16 I looked online again and it says on route back to the store and repair was done. I thought great finally its on time! Nobody called. No email. I never saw the online tracker say it was in store. I messaged online customer care Aug 16 around 6pm asking if they knew if it was in and just not scanned in? They said here is your new repair # and a new promise date of August 23. I thought ok. Delivery must be behind. Didn't think to cross my mind about why she gave me a new repair #. I emailed Maria August 17 asking where abouts my ring was as she hadn't contacted me. 1039am Maria emailed me saying the ring isn't back yet and she'd let me know. Fast forward through the day a bit - Aug 17 - around 110pm or so I reached out to customer service again asking why I have two repair #s for the same ring that I still don't even have back? The lady went on to tell me that my ring was there yesterday and Maria authorized the ring to be sent out again to re do repairs as it didn't pass their inspection.
I said how can you do this when I was not even told nor did I sign to authorize this? She said she's not sure why the store didn't inform me and I'd have to speak to manager. ( Sadly - Maria)
I then emailed Maria and asked her why she couldn't tell me this morning in the very basic email stating that it was back and didn't pass inspection- VS " Its not back - I'll contact you when its in "... She replied with it didn't pass inspection and sent it back.
I replied with why was I not informed and I did not authorize this to be done. She then calls me and leaves a voice-mail stating if I have any further questions to call her. I emailed again asking the same question as she still had not answered as to why she didn't inform me of this decision and failed to update me! If it wasn't for customer service online and me reaching out I would have been left in the dark!
Maria emailed me back explaining how it wasn't done properly and understood how important this is etc etc and apologies etc etc as usual and that they want me to have a positive experience with peoples. And went on to say how I've had issues with this ring before. I've never had issues with this ring in 9 years. Once been sent in for rhodium plating and once for sizing for smaller. No damages. No loss. No breakage.
I have attempted to email head office and literally got a post master email saying unsuccessful attempts at sending an email!
What is with this place!?!
Aug 21 - No reply from Maria as of yet by 11am ( Emailed Aug 17) so I sent another email asking her to reply as she is the manager I'm to go to with concerns and she's ignoring me- Wanting to know why she sent my ring out without authorization or even telling me.
I've also contacted customer service and asked them to contact the DM Nouchine Mazhar as I need assistance NOW...
Aug 22 I had no email from DM. I went on the text customer service option and had an amazing lady name Caroline who got me my request within an hour!
The DM Nouchine contacted me via email Aug 21 and set up a phone appt for August 22 after she contacted the store of course and I all of a sudden have an email from Maria telling me to call her as she's called and emailed me. Yes she has with no answers to my questions!
Aug 22 - The DM called me! Hallelujah! I informed her of my whole story! Expressing how stressful and dreadful these few months have been! She of course was apologetic and plans to get to the bottom of this lack of customer service by Maria and she offered to have my ring sent to the other store for pick up. I said no because this one is closer and I've had no issues until APRIL.
Magicaly - 528pm Aug 22 - Maria calls and my husband took a message for me stating my ring is in as well as I got an email from Maria stating it's in and requests I let her know when I'll be in to pick up my ring and to bring ID... I'm sorry but when have I ever had to let them know that I'd be in to pick up? NEVER. So I'm thinking Miss.Maria is AVOIDING me even more so now.
I've called the store numerous times since 6pm as she stated in the email to let her know when im coming and yet again - Nobody can answer a phone... So we drove to the store.
I rush to online peoples repair tracker and low and behold. Yes my ring shows its fininished AND. To my eyes what do I see... It says
" ITEM PICKED UP & REPAIR COMPLETED" - PICKED UP AUGUST 22 2023... I'm sorry. Who picked it up? It surely wasn't me...
I emailed both MARIA & NOUCHINE inquiring about this status. Nouchine emailed me back quickly letting me know my 2nd repair # was closed and I was now back to using the 1st repair # which said ready for pick up.
I walked into people's to find 2 employees and Maria. 1 employee helping another customer. 1 placing stickers on rings in the display and Maria doing nothing. No other customers in store. She took 5 min to come over to us at the counter ( I recorded this in store visit). In total it took 9 minutes to grab my ring, then proceed over to the microscope to take photos where you can see all the details of the ring. She then proceeds over and asks me to look at my band and let her know what I think... I didn't even have to pick up my ring as I could see from the naked eye that the ring was NOT fixed per instructions. I picked it up and looked more closely at all details and imperfections. I told her " No- because nobody can still do their job"
Upon my inspections - My ring is SCRATCHED on both shoulders ( To remove brushing that was NOT to be there), 14K is not stamped inside, gold is missing where its to hug the diamond ( to match the rest) and the prong is shorter than the rest... Maria begins to say how sorry she is for the negative experience I've had and she's done all she could. I raised my voice in order to speak over her as she was NOT listening to a word I had to say especially when I asked her about lieing and hiding information from me. I told her to go read her own reviews on Google as they are directed to her specific. She quickly decided to tell me " I AM NOT ALLOWING THIS CONVERSATION". I told her this is still in conversation and she said she's not allowing it and she'd call security on me. She walked away from me and I called her a liar and informed anyone who was listening to not shop here as they lie and with hold information about your jewelry!
I went to my vehicle and called Nouchine the DM and told her this whole ordeal and she said the only way to fix my ring was to send it out again...I told her no way when clearly 3x since April - For the SAME problem they still couldn't fix the 1st time... I was not offered any discount on any new piece, I was not offered Anything complimentary nor do I even want anything at this point but to have my wedding ring fixed PROPERLY - By properly - I mean Locally. But you do that - You break your warranty.
I am done with peoples. I'm done with every 6 month inspections! I'm done... I am happy to burn the useless warranty and be done with the store and take my valued items, time and money else where...
94 years in business and there not even on the BBB! What does that tell you... Do your due diligence research before you buy everyone.
Just for reference also - Ive had GOLD rings from other jewlers and NEVER have I ever had to send them in to be rhodium plated as the " White gold" wears off. The photo reference is from not even 6 months post rhodium vs what it should ALWAYS look like.
I'm so sorry for the LONG review. It has to be told!
