I have a PayPal account and it is absolutely the worst money app I have ever used. If you get too much money they give you like 10% to use and hold the rest for 21days if you just get more than normal they hold it 21 days. And even if the money isn't on hold and let's say you update your phone number or make the slightest change on your account you won't be able to spend any funds or transfer any funds until their computer decides it's ok for you to do it. And even if they know it's you the computer won't let them override it to release your funds z. So I had money sent to PayPal for a bill I had to pay it was over the amount I normally receive so they held it. I got it release to my balance but guess what it's being held hostage because I updated my phone number Still no access to my money. The bill was my storage bill and my unit was up for auction the next morning if. Not paid. Guess what. Because I updated and that's it updated my number my money was still being held hostage and my storage was auctioned off I lost all of my belongings because uPayPal's computer says not allowed the phone number is new. So Iost all my belongings.and the money is still being held hostage right now. Be careful don't update and give them correct info because they don't tell you if you change anything your funds will be locked up till whenever the computer says it's ok. Any reason they can find your money is going on hold for 21days horrible horrible app I would not ever recommend it to anyone only one star because it wouldn't let me go further intil I gave at least one it doesn't deserve that
I used PayPal mostly because it's ubiquitous; most sites accept it for purchasing and it was also convenient for exchanging money with individuals (e.g. Settling bills with roommates). The PayPal checkout experience is typically fine.
I only had to use their charge dispute feature once, without success. They denied my claim with no explanation for a purchase that they processed for a higher amount than shown on the retailer's receipt. Reaching someone in customer service was extremely difficult, and even after I did, they simply had me resubmit my claim and denied it again. I had to put in a dispute with my bank, which ultimately resolved things.
I noticed while searching for a way to contact customer service that PayPal has a setting for which companies have connected access to your account. You are supposed to be able to opt to remove connected sites/retailers, but several of them just didn't work. They claim it's because you have a pending transaction but some of the shops that I couldn't toggle off access for I hadn't made a transaction with in years.
Finally, PayPal started automatically logging me in when I used my personal laptop or phone - no password, certainly no two-factor authentication (which is becoming industry-standard for financial services) - just logging me in without verifying my identity at all. I emailed them about it, asking how they expected to ensure the right user was accessing the account if for example family members share a computer or a roommate accessed my laptop while I was out or my phone was stolen or something. Again, hard to get in touch with customer service, and after waiting on hold, I was told that's just how they do things.
The security risk was the last straw. I closed my account. And honestly, the impact is minimal, as you can checkout through PayPal without an account at most retailers who use the service (though they try to get you to create an account during every checkout).
Update to review: After sending report to BBB and filing police report and having my credit union look into this, my money has been deposited back as a chargeback. I believe my credit union is responsible though for getting the money back and not paypal. I still plan to not use them ever again.
My paypal account was hacked at 1 am while I was asleep and someone put a business name in as a payee, I never pay people thru paypal, I only make small purchases or use it for donations, the amount was $2650 to some dental lab, really? They should have higher stricter standards with security like our banks do, They put it thru and my bank account sucked of all the money in our checking account and the hacker proceeded to try and get two more $2500 transactions thru, no money left so now they kicked back one of them to my paypal balance, currently dealing with fraud department with Synchrony on that but resolution center is a joke. You cannot call and get anyone on the phone most times, messaging on their site is a joke as no one is really there like a chat session, after filing resolution an email came back in one day saying they determined it was not unauthorized, when someone tries three times to get high dollar amounts it is a hacker. I never make large purchases and they should have reviewed my history of purchases. No customer service at all, it sounds like such a great outfit and it is good for convenience but if you cannot even offer good communication something is wrong. Paypal was warned in early 2020 about hackers and they did nothing about it. I will never use them again and plan to do reviews everywhere I can. No more paypal
The agent refuse to help me with my payments because she was too lazy to look for my account information
I purchased an item through Paypal from Banggood in thoughts that I would be protected by Paypal as they so aptly advertise. After receiving a defective product I contacted paypal and filed a grievance as directed by their automated line. Over 30 emails and numerous calls to Paypall with all Emails responded to by a generic computer response telling me to file a grievance that I had already filed. No answers to phone calls waiting on hold > 30" and to be disconnected or number was inactive. Sent all requested information to both Paypal and Banggood on numerous occasions. Pay pal continued with the computer-generated generic response to file a claim that was already filed on June 28. On July 18th I received an Email from Paypal that my claim was denied, Not in my favor and I had not filed a grievance. This despite their 11 generic computer-generated responses that showed on my grievance report on their website that, indeed, I had filed a grievance. I was never able to talk to or Email an individual at Paypal: Only computer-generated generic responses. I had more contact, although slight of hand, bordering thievery, and broken english from Banggod which sports an "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau then I ever did with Paypal. If anyone is able to contact a real person at Paypal please place that number on line as all reviews I read about Paypal, the only time they respond to customers inquires is in a response to a letter generated by the Better Business Bureau. Good luck to all on your endeavors with Paypal. I don't know of what services they supply but Paypal was not a Penpal to me.
I sent the order and the customer received it. But suddenly paypal permanently limits my account and holds my money. This is an unacceptable thing!
I looked at my bank account one day to see I had two charges of 255 dollars identical amounts to paypal and was concerned because I very rarely use paypal. I proceed to login and find a payment sent to a name in Chinese or Japanese characters as well as a bank transfer. I begin to worry and read up on paypal what to do. I end up filing a claim and dispute the charges in return the next day I receive an email from Paypal stating this is consistent with my purchases and transfers previously! I am infuriated with the fact I hardly use paypal have only sent money to people I know and on multiple occasions to the same person. I have never once transferred 500 dollars into my paypal and never once have I sent money to whoever the money was transferred to (I dont know the name because they were some kind of asian characters). I am appealing now but extremely dissatisfied with over 500 dollars being stolen from me and being told "your history is consistent with bank transfers to this user" when I have never sent any money overseas and telling me I had authorized this transaction.
Im now out over 500 dollars scammed without even knowing i was being stolen from by someone they tell me i know and dont even know the first step to figuring out who this is beside some fake email consisting of 10 randomized letters and numbers. Terribly appalled at the blatant disregard to even look into who this person is. I will never use paypal again and i hope no one goes through this for paypal will pretty much tell you to $#*! off. Thanks again for taking my money random person and paypal for letting it slide. Maybe im in the wrong business and should just scam people on paypal.
I have been a customer of Paypal since 2004 and had used Paypal both as a seller and buyer. I used to be satisfied with their service.
However, over the past 5 years, Paypal's service has gone down hill. Their customer service is non-existant. They must hire junkies who read at the 1st grade level because Paypal customer service reps are the worst!
I had placed a dispute on my credit card but the merchant ended up coming through and delivering the product. So I called my credit card company, Chase, to cancel the dispute because that's the right thing to do. I thought that would be the end of it, but no. I was about to enter the depths of Hell with Paypal because it was the platform I had used to pay the merchant.
Paypal dragged their feet, refused to close the dispute. Every time I called Paypal the rep would tell me something different. "It'll take up to 45 days for us to resolve the dispute." The second time I called, the rep said it would take 75 days. The third time I called, and spoke with a supervisor, he told me 90 days. That's just one example of different reps telling you different things.
Finally, they closed the dispute, however, they resolution was that the merchant had NEVER sent me my product. Instead of closing the dispute as I had requested, they falsely claimed that the merchant was at fault, so they could charge the merchant $20! That is insanely unethical! I as the customer reached out to cancel the dispute b/c the merchant had delivered the product. Paypal should NOT have charged the merchant $20!
And when I called to complain, the customer service rep, another imbecile, told me that Paypal would eventually refund the merchant. How does that make any sense? I asked for him to show me proof or send me something in writing. Lo and behold, he failed to do it and lost his cool, and started shouting at me. Unprofessional, immature, and incompetent.
Paypal is dishonest, unethical, and going down hill. I am taking my business over to Stripe and Apple pay. I feel like I age every time I use Paypal. Not worth it at all!
I purchased an item through PayPal from a small startup when I did not receive a confirmation from the company I purchased it from I went to PayPal to get information on the item there is no live person to contact PayPal there is no live messaging right now with PayPal and when the seller avoided any contacts through phone number or email and I complained it was a difficult process to even get in touch with them they're allowing several days for the seller to contact when I received information finally from PayPal I was given a tracking number that was fraudulent it stated I had received the item in question before I get ever actually purchased it which unless you can time travel doesn't happen and and the only response I got from PayPal this is weird still have not received my refund driver Quest it still have not received an accurate tracking number and PayPal is still dragging his feet about getting me a refund I would advise for no one can use PayPal if you need to purchase something purchase it through a credit card or a prepaid card so at least you can try to get your money back then or go through Amazon or somebody more reputable PayPal is not to be trusted
I think that PayPal is safe and always checks transfers.
But I don't like that consultants in support are rude
DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR FINANCIAL INFORMATION. I had a fraudulent charge on my account recently, and contacted Paypal to address it. I was more or less told that I was out of luck, as unless you carry your device in a bag around your neck at all times then Paypal isn't responsible for someone using it to access your account... so basically the same level of protection that you can expect from Ebay, their parent company. Whoever accessed my account wasn't even required to log into it first and Paypal STILL honored the transaction (it was a "guest" charge). I was told that if I leave my device unattended at any time for any length of time and anyone uses it to charge my account (WITHOUT actually having to log into it first, mind you) then its completely my problem. Then to add insult to injury they STILL allowed the fraudulent charge to clear while I while still debating this with them. These people are completely untrustworthy... its not a matter of IF they rip you off, its WHEN.
I had 6 debit and credit cards stolen through this app. This is a completely untrustworthy app. Please delete it.
They blocked my account without any reason, ibwas shocked. I never expected from PayPal. That's really shame. I was happy, not any more.
They make it as difficult as possible to close acct. After horrible service. They will never take your side against a high-sale merchant.
I made the biggest mistake of buying something off Coach Outlet. I paid with PayPal because of the buyer protection. After I spent $78.39 (tax included) at the Coach Outlet, I waited weeks for the package to come, finally I open it and the product was described wrong. Coach had no prepaid return labels, no Coach outlets in NYC, and on their website, they said the shipping is the customer's responsibility. I should NOT be responsible to return something that's not as described so I filed a dispute on PayPal to get $8 refunded to me from Coach so I could return the socks. They closed in my favor, I used $6.41 out of the $8.00 to return the socks. Coach gets the socks.
BUT! They only refunded me $70.39 on PayPal. Where's the $6.41 I spent that was supposedly covered by them for THEIR mistake? Again, I had to contact Paypal and again, each response was from a different agent who barely read my previous dispute, barely looked at the previous evidence or even bothered checking the transaction ID showing that I spent $6.41 to return items to Coach. Instead, I was offered a measly $8 "return shipping voucher credit" that lasts only 6 months because the agent said that Coach *did* refund me full. His response: "Coach refunded you $8 and then $70.39". DUDE, I spent the $8 to return the WRONG items to them. Like WHAT? I wasted so much time waiting for these items just for them to be wrong, I had to go through the hassle of talking to PayPal, then having PayPal letting Coach keep the money and giving me back a partial refund over something that wasn't even MY fault. Such a headache and since it was only out $6.41, I basically ignored the resolution and gave up. How sad that consumers have to give up their money because a situation becomes so complicated and ridiculous? PayPal wasn't helpful at all.
Like another reviewer said, Paypal is a horrible forced payment option especially on eBay. In most cases, you are never even SURE that you could keep the money you made because buyers have literally half a year to file a chargeback or a claim against you for any reason they want even after many months have passed; even if they left you positive feedback with no issue at all.
This break between eBay and Paypal hasn't changed anything! The only that has changed is Paypal's web interface which is much easier to use and much better on the eyes. If you have a problem with a chargeback or a claim though Paypal, eBay would just tell you tough luck. Yet this payment processing option is FORCED onto you to receive money and takes a chunk of your money for every payment received.
I would never trust Paypal with any of my money. I honestly wish there was a better alternate that eBay would use, but they are too busy racking high fees from their sellers. I pay hundreds of dollars of these fees to Paypal every month as a seller (excluding the eBay ones) and neither of these two companies actually helped me as a seller in any way. If you have a big sum of money left on your Paypal, transfer it immediately and don't leave it lingering.
If eBay wasn't forcing sellers to use Paypal, this payment option would never exist. For freelance work outside of my online shop, I take cash, checks or ChaseQuickpay. No fees, no scamming, no chargebacks, no disputes. Done.
Lastly, as a customer, there is no way to hide your address from strangers when purchasing an item. Whether or not it's a tangible good or a mistake on the receiver's side, there needs to be a fixed solution for this. I don't enjoy knowing some stranger in Puerto Rico knows my address when I pay the invoice to receive my digital photos from an activity during my trip.
I am using paypal from more than 7 years now to take money from my clients and to send invoice... Service is great and customer care is amazing
I JUST POSTED MY REVIEW FOR paypal and my rating was 1 STAR, buy it is showing 2 and 1/2 stars. That is wrong, they are not even worth 1 star; please change they don't deserve it,
Answer: I would not recommend PayPal to anyone for anything they're a joke of a business
Answer: Paypal will NOT be on your side if the item is not as described. I bought an item that was totally wrong, advertised as "handmade, hand quilted, made of brushed Kona cotton", picture was beautiful with wonderful quilting and vibrant colors and I was buying from a company from Texas. I received an item from Texas, not handmade, not hand quilted, not vibrant colors, not brushed cotton and it was just a picture printed on cheap polyester/nylon fabric. Hideous. I paid $99.90. Company first offered to refund $30, nope, still way too expensive for a cheap quilt that I wouldn't even use for my pets. Then said if I return the "quilt" to China at my expense they would refund the money. Cost to return? $70. Paypal agreed with this company, denied my claim and I'm sitting here with something I would feel cheated if I paid $10. Paypal is not the company it once was. Use your credit card as that company will have your back. Looking to see what a better option is than Paypal. 20 year customer and I'm done. I do not think anyone actually reads our messages to Paypal.
Answer: They have become a money laundry scamming allowing company. Stay away at any cost.
Answer: USPS delievered it to the wrong address my pacakge was supposed to be delievered too 35710 Bay Morgan Ln, Fallbrook, CA 92028 when USPS delivered it to an address simillar to this one 12354 Alcatal Street (do not know the exact address since they did not email me, but you can call USPS and ask, and that is how I found out) Fallbrook, CA 92028, right city and zip code, far away address.
Answer: I'm thinking someone has to work there, if you send messages you will get a canned reply, I get the same response from 10 messages, basically "suck it up buttercup, you have just been played" but if you try to actually talk to a person good luck.
Answer: They dont. They wait for you to forget it. You get money back if you fill in a form after 180 days.
Answer: Do never send money to PayPal. That money is lost. This company has become a Giants money laundry company.
Answer: No there is not. PayPal protects scammers. Be sure to never use them.
Answer: It doesn't matter if you report them or not PayPal won't do nothing about it they continued to let the scammers operate on their site and do not protect consumers
Answer: SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE WITH THAT LOT, THEY CLAIM TO REFUND AMOUNTS PAID FOR ITEMS THAT DO NOT ARRIVE THATS "BS" I HAVE HAD 3 SUCH CLAIMS FROM 14 TRANSACTIONS AND HAVE NEVER GOT A REFUND DESPITE THEIR CLAIMS, THEY ARE CROOKS, FULL STOP, KEEP WELL CLEAR OF THEM.
PayPal has a rating of 1.3 stars from 2,133 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with PayPal most frequently mention customer service, credit card and bank account. PayPal ranks 157th among Money Transfer sites.
