“Founder Paymon Raouf opened the original location on...”

Richard W.
6/18/14

Founder Paymon Raouf opened the original location on Maryland Parkway (University District) in 1988 as a local deli featuring Middle Eastern food and beverages under the name Middle Eastern Bazaar. Several years later the name was changed to the Mediterranean Cafe to reflect the diversity of cuisines in the Mediterranean region. In 2002 the name was changed to Paymon's Mediterranean Cafe & Lounge. The final name change was due to branding the Paymon's name and to bring attention to it's full-service operation with the Hookah Lounge. In 2004 Paymon's opened it's second full-service location on West Sahara Avenue. The small neighborhood eatery evolved into one of the most highly awarded restaurants in Las Vegas. The evolution of this cafe and lounge saw a complete transition from a single-cuisine menu to a multiple cuisine format representing several countries within the Mediterranean region while reaching out to many of the vegetarian clientele. The menu focuses on Italian, Greek and Middle Eastern specialties though also offers several specialties from India. Paymon's is open for lunch, dinner and late night dining and uses only the freshest and finest ingredients. The use of zero trans fat oils, non-msg spices, natural preservatives, Certified Angus Beef etc. are all a testament to Paymon's philosophy of delivering the best dining experience. Paymon's also packages and sells a line of spices and its signature Racy Red hot sauce from it's very own spice company called the Spice Bazaar. The ambiance is warm, casual and fun. The Mediterranean art pieces and accessories adorn the walls to give the true feeling of being taken to another place. Both locations have a main dining room and outside patio which can accommodate approximately 150 guests at a time.
