Bait and switch
April 9, 2025

Here is the full story, good and bad. Unfortunately, the bad severely outweighs the good. I have been dying to get my first puppy for a long, long time. I'm 34 years old and finally have space and money to take care of a dog. My family has always had Boxers, so I wanted to carry on the tradition. My experience working with the customer service rep was actually very stellar. Quick to respond, friendly, personable, and someone that I felt comfortable to be honest with on what I really wanted. When it comes to spending thousands of dollars on an animal, I expected this type of service... and I got it! So long story short, I got the puppy trucked over to my home in California from, I believe Nebraska. The experience was easy, and very expensive. But it felt worth it.
But with this expense comes a lot of risk. I know from the past that dogs (let alone Boxers) can always come with issues and ailments, but according to Pawrade they have a "Health Guarantee" - to dive a little further into that I quote from their website "Should a health issue arise after your puppy comes home, this Health Guarantee along with your Pet Insurance has you covered."
Well surprise surprise, not even a year into owning Benny (my dog) he started losing weight, vomiting regularly, and became lethargic, drank like a fish, and peed every 30 minutes. So something was clearly wrong. I took him to two vets who after lots of testing (and thousands of dollars) they found that Benny had a Copper Storage Disease (also know as copper-associated hepatopathy). For those that don't know, basically all dog food and treats have copper in them. Even vegetables and poultry have copper in them. Well, Benny couldn't digest copper properly, and left untreated, the vet says he had a year or so to live. They took more tests and did a couple biopsies on his liver and ultimately prescribed 7 medications to detox his liver, clean his liver, and promote liver function. They also prescribed liver friendly food for Benny, that he will have to eat for the rest of his life. For just the food alone, that will be about $200/month. If Benny lives until the average lifespan of a Boxer, that is 11 years. So minus 1 year, that is $200/month x 12 months x 10 years. That is $24,000 in food that I would have otherwise NOT purchased had he been a healthy dog. Not to mention the medicine and the ultrasound/biopsy cost over $10,000. Thank god I had insurance, so I had to pay about $4,000 out of pocket. Now here is the real nasty side of the situation. When I asked Pawrade to help me, because of their so called 'guarantee' - well, long story short they denied the claim because he wasn't 'sick enough'. They said, and I quote "It is important to note that should there be a subsequent diagnosis of a liver shunt, which would necessitate surgical intervention to address the condition, your claim would then qualify for coverage based on the terms of your policy." - A Liver Shunt has NOTHING to do with the disease Benny has. A shunt is for a liver bypass issue or filtration issue. The copper storage disease can only be fixed by completely removing the copper stuck in the liver, and moving forward strictly have a copper free diet. Again, if I couldn't afford the medicine, or the operations - Benny would be dead in about 6 months from today. Not even before his 2nd birthday. The vet told me that Benny, who had just turned 1 in November, had a liver functioning like a 50 year old alcoholic. Now, by Pawrade's standards, that isn't an important enough issue to help cover my needs. They're basically saying "by our guarantee's guidelines, your dog is healthy enough that it doesn't fall under our guarantee". How is that healthy? I am furious for so many reasons - the greed, the misdirection, the lies, but what bothers me the most is the utter deniability of something so clearly obvious. Luckily, I am actually able to afford these procedures and medicines (plus the thousands of dollars in medicinal food), but some of you won't be that lucky. And you'll be faced with having to see your new dog (that you likely already spent hundreds or thousands of dollars on) die slowly, or to have to put them down. And Pawrade will be sitting their counting their cash, denying your claims just like the American insurance companies do. I should have listened to my gut. It all feels very "murphy's law". You could be lucky and get a perfect dog, and Pawrade will be the wonderful company that I first thought I was interacting with, but should anything go wrong, you stand the chance of facing a cold, heartless, insurance-type industry company that will laugh in your face with your dollars in their hands.
I will never, ever consider doing business with them again. And I hope that none of you reading this experience what I've had to deal with these last few months.

Parade Sold Me a Puppy with Cryptorchidism - Unethical Breeding & No Accountability
March 12, 2025

I See full proof of my experience, including email exchanges, wellness check records, and Parade's misleading claims:
- *******@pawrademyawfulexperience on Instagram
I deeply regret choosing to work with PetPay and Parade due to their failure to uphold basic ethical standards and accountability in their breeding practices. My puppy, Lucas, was diagnosed with cryptorchidism, a hereditary condition where one of his testicles failed to descend, and the other was underdeveloped. This condition is entirely preventable with responsible breeding and proper genetic screening -yet neither Parade nor their breeder took the necessary precautions.
Despite the seriousness of this issue, both companies have refused to take responsibility, hiding behind contractual loopholes rather than addressing the ethical concerns or making meaningful changes.
Lucas' condition has long-term health risks, requires surgery, and increases the likelihood of testicular cancer. Yet, Parade dismissed it as a
"minor" issue simply because the formal diagnosis came after their narrow 72-hour health guarantee window-even though cryptorchidism often cannot be diagnosed in newborn puppies.
Their reliance on this technicality is designed to protect themselves, not the animals or their customers.
What's most troubling is that their contract seems to excuse unethical breeding practices, allowing them to continue working with breeders who fail to prevent genetic defects. By supporting such breeders, Parade perpetuates irresponsible breeding that harms both the dogs and the families who welcome them into their homes.
I trusted Parade to provide a healthy, ethically bred pet, and they have failed to meet that promise. Potential customers should know that this company prioritizes legal protections over ethics, transparency, and animal welfare.
If you value responsible breeding, honesty, and accountability, I strongly urge you to reconsider choosing Parade or PetPay.

PAWRADE and PETPAY ARE A SCAM - BEWARE
December 2, 2024

PAWRADE IS A PUPPY MILL SCAM!
What a JOKE of a company! I have bought multiple puppies over the years and have a dog currently, I am not new to dogs by any means.

Long story short the communication by pawrade/petpay was terrible. I wasnt able to actually talk to the breeder. The dog was listed as available to go home as of Nov 1 so when i purchased the dog I thought it would be available right away, not so much. The dog couldnt be delivered until Dec 1 and they didnt tell me until after purchasing. The dog was also $4,000 for a belgian malinois which is over DOUBLE what any other reputable breeder charges, that should have been the first red flag but the puppy looked so cute I looked past it.

That is only where the problems began. The puppy was supposed to be picked on Nov 28 and was not picked up until Nov 30, of course no one called me to tell me this.

Anyway the puppy FINALLY arrives Dec 1 at 9am and my fiancee and I are both so excited! We feed the puppy a full meal, take it outside to play and potty then come back inside to rest and we give it a couple treats. Once the puppy finished one of the treats we go to take the remains away and she snarled and aggressively bit my fiancees's hand to the point of drawing blood and needing stitches! After this I think well maybe it was just a puppy miscommunication, these things happen.

Not so fast, I scold the dog saying "NO biting" and go to pick her up to put her in the crate and she then bites me really hard to the point of drawing blood. It was at this point I started thinking something was very wrong and this dog must have been bred by a puppy mill or possibly horribly mistreated by the breeder who knows.

I waited 15-20min for the puppy to relax and tried to pick the puppy up again and it again arched its back, snarled, showed its teeth and bit me HARD again! Drawing blood AGAIN!

This is all in just about an hour of having this puppy so I message the breeder at 10am that their puppy has bitten both of us and she said its not her problem and to contact pawrade. (What a thoughtful caring breeder right?)

So I contact pawrade and I tell them I want to return the puppy because clearly something is wrong. Ive had many puppies over the years and NEVER had a puppy bite so hard and show such aggression for no reason.

Pawrade sends the driver to pick up the puppy and proceeds to tell us that it is somehow our fault that the puppy has bitten both of us to the point of drawing blood, its our fault she snarls and shows her teeth etc and refuses to give even a partial refund. So now between the $4k pet fee, tax and shipping two ways im down $6k with multiple dog bites and stitches to show for it.

PAWRADE / PETPAY is a JOKE of a company and I will NEVER ever forget how poorly they treated us. BEWARE

DONT DO IT!
October 6, 2023

Their marketing team is great. They get you to believe that you are getting this amazing, adorable puppy by connecting you with "top breeders." WHAT A JOKE! The "breeders" are backyard breeders who do nothing but breed for volume. The "loving care" and "health screened" it's just a mirror to spend your money. You look at these cute puppies, see the prices, and then you make your choice. The salesteam is awesome to get you to spend all sorts of money for your new puppy. The puppy arrives and so does the MASSIVE VET BILLS! My puppy arrived with a severe ear infection. But hey there are 30 days of pet insurance so I can make a claim and get money back… WRONG! "The dog had the infection prior to coverage." Well that didn't work but Pawrade stated that the puppy was checked by a vet and cleared for transport so they will cover it. WORNG AGAIN… "we can't prove the dog arrived with an infection." (Despite the vet visit was ONE day after!) I follow the rules and contract to the T but that doesn't matter. I get ready to neuter my dog "there is something wrong with his heart." I pay a total of $800 for a diagnosis and echocardiogram for my now 15 month old 104 pound dog. Turns out he has heart arrhythmia My first thought "oh he has insurance, they should cover it." DENIED! "ITS A PREEXISTING CONDITION." Well the 3-year health guarantee should help a little because it's genetic. DENIED! "Has to be a level three heart murmur." So now what? I'm stuck with a dog who has a heart condition due to "poor breeding." And massive vet bills plus pain medication monthly now. GO TO YOUR LOCAL BREEDER WHERE THEY DO PROPER HEALTH CHECKS! Save your money and stay away from this place.

I received a call from a manager on Tuesday of this week. He stated that I needed to get my dogs heart arrhythmia graded because "a level one heart murmur can go away as the puppy ages." He state that I need a 2nd vets opinion before they will look at it again. He's constantly saying "I'm not a vet but I've seen a lot of these." At the end of the call he tells me "we have to follow procedure." I called my dogs vet, he stated a heart arrhythmia and heart murmur are different so there is no "grade or level". I reached out to a few vets for a second opinion, everyone of the stated because it's a heart arrhythmia, another echocardiogram will need to be done. Cheapest quote I could get was $650. That's on top of what I already paid. It's a shame that these breeders do not use OFA to health screen their dogs.

Worst experience and horrible customer service
July 15, 2023

I have had the worst experience with this company. In short. I paid for my puppy and all the arrangements I needed in a matter of minutes. In no longer than 30minutes I had paid for everything and selected the travel option.

I was made promises was tangled by beautiful pictures of my puppy I never received, over 3K thousand dollars I paid and did not receive any and no one at all is replying to my comments. It is one day pass the day my puppy was supposed to arrive I'm into the second day of my puppy not arriving and have no clue. The traveling; be careful they give that part to a third party company that is NOT Pawrade and know their comments are not anywhere as good as is covered up by the Pawrade reviews. In instances they are not even shared. I am doctor and this puppy was meant to help me as an emotional support animal to help children in my care who are newly diagnosed with Autism. Something I shared with them. But now I'm concerned that she may be experiencing travel trauma.

Be aware that just because you paid doesn't mean that you will get what you asked for when you asked for it. They kept the puppy profile active online; although stating no longer available they kept it online.

I worked with the following Pawrade staff that did nothing to help me or my puppy or clarify any information to help me:
1.) Janell
2.) Cindy travel concierge
3.) customer service support email
support@ pawrade. Com
4.) Aaron Wood customer service Liason /support concierge
5.) PetPay Team *******812
6.) a travel person from the third party company with the following phone number: +1 *******865
7.) "Lem" someone involved with driving not once answered my messages.
8.) Life360 app which is extremely confusing
9.) Scarlet Bouchard with Wags on wheels traveling company I suppose. Multiple emails and not one resolution or clarification.

One or two more individuals that I don't recall. Be aware where they will send your puppy to a third party company for the travel part. Quietly inserting this unknown company hidden by your excitement; you later realize you did not have the chance to review them and was not given an opportunity to see if you were comfortable with this company or provide an alternative. Especially research their complaints and comments.

Prior to fully paying you make sure you have every single detail about your baby puppy and the itinerary, even if they don't want to give it to you; push for it. Get the exact names of the people that will be helping you: names and phone number and emails. Make sure to be mindful that the extra awesome support and caring and attentive staff at the beginning is simply wanting to finalize the sale. But once that happens and they say "text me or call me if you need anything" and the money has gone through, they'll never once reply back to you again. Especially if there is an issue.

I wish I had a nice thing to say. I wish I wasn't overcome by emotions for having a basset hound as my previous baby died at 15 years old. It took me a long time to be open to a new basset hound; and as I opened my heart I was met with this horrible experience.

At the bottom of this box it states "how to write a useful review" I hope this is useful review and that this review actually makes it to be posted. It is an honest, respectful, and factual review. By placing as much information and names on this review I hope that it cautions other consumers like me of this company and these people and that I hold this company accountable. Maybe they can work to improve and grow. I do not have bad intentions as I still hope my puppy is well and made it to me safe and sound but not once has a supervisor or team lead have attempted to help me.

Make a wise choice prior to selecting a company for you or your family's needs for a puppy/pet/emotional support animal/other.

Heavily unsatisfied,

Mixed breed/ Deceptive Pawrade
December 11, 2022

I saw the dog and ordered her. She was to be a Miniature Long Hair Dachshund. They made me sign papers via DocuSign before I even saw the dog. Travel was unforgiving, dog went from Missouri, to almost Canada, then to Virginia, and finally Massachusetts. Almost 2 weeks later I asked the driver if she was walked as called for in agreement. The two young boys said no. The dog was traumatized and full of parasites. Delivered at almost midnight we did not see the signs.
As I called the company they kept pushing me off until the last day. It was amazing I finally get a call from a manager on day 31, just out of there obligations.
Referred me to met life...when I called them they said pawrade knew they do not cover pre-existing conditions.
Next I went to 2 veterinarians who both had the same conclusions. 1) dog was traumatized. 2) dog was full of parasites. 3)Dog had a sizable lump on side, called a third rib growth, signs of crossbreeding. 4) Dog was most likely from puppy mill and NOT a pure breed.
I find it imposable 2 doctors were wrong. Also checked by pawrade doctor? Not disclosing the lumps on side.
At that point she had infected my other 2 dogs and 2 cats. Now I had 5 animals at the veterinarians and was giving all 5 animals medicine twice a day for 10 days and then rechecks.
Pawrade would not disclose breeders. Although eventually I found them. Again with NO reply. They breed any dog which generally means puppy mill.
When I put in 2 disputes with credit card he was smart enough to know after 90 days I am automatically favored, He (pawrade) reversed the charges on day 89. This guy knew the ropes. I would venture a guess this was not the first time!
Lastley he threatened me that he would report me to the credit bureaus if I did not pay him $298.00 x 2= $596.00 for disputing the charges. Great guy?
Lastly on to the credit card (synchrony) They told me NO recourse due to the fact it was live stock? (I am sure pawrade knew about this.) I am still arguing with MasterCard. What is the difference if you buy sneakers, power tool, or a dog? MISSRPRESENTATION is misrepresentation. Nothing changes!
Pawrade is just a brokerage house who don't care what they sell you! And they do not stand behind there animals. I have learned a lot unfortunately the hard way.
My wife says we saved the animal. I have to agree, even though the dog is still fearful of many things we are working with her trauma. After almost 10 months God willing she will continue to get better.
--- As for Pawrade you disgust me on how you treat animals.
--- As for Synchrony M/C, I hope you reconsider my dispute, therefore punishing him for his lack of integrity, deceptive, and fraudulent activities.

BUYER BEWARE ON SO MANY LEVELS
August 9, 2022

-MY PUPPY HAD A HEART MURMUR…and they conveniently left that document out when sending me her vet records. (I obtained her complete records from the vet directly). The heart murmur should've been disclosed so I had the opportunity to decide whether I wanted to take this on. Also, I paid $3200 for her (not including the $800 transfer fee)…. Seems exorbitant for a puppy that has health concerns and that I will financially have to continue to invest in outside of the regular vaccines. Additionally, I would've never known about the heart murmur if I didn't contact the vet directly. ***When I sent the records to Kelli with Pawrade her response was I needed to take it up with the breeder. The breeder- I don't even know or have any communication with whoever that is. Isn't that why I'm paying for a pet concierge- so I can benefit from 'screened' breeders. Clearly the breeders aren't screened. I asked for her to have a manager call me. Not only would a manager not call me but Kelli wouldn't call me. She would just send me text messages that were in circles and illogical.

-My puppy also had PARASITES! 1 day before transport Pawrade notified me she had a parasite, she was on meds, and assured she would be re-checked prior to transport. Well, 5 days later I was emailed "Lily cleared at the vet re-check exam" and she was being picked up then for transport….(we thought that was quick and completely unexpected)……we have now been made aware by the vet that Lily never had a re-check exam… so how was she 'cleared'? The vet said (and the records reflect) she needed to wait 4 weeks to be reschecked…. Yet Pawrade lied and said she was cleared. Completely deceptive business practices! I kept asking Lois with Pawrade for a copy of such 'cleared' report (which I know they don't have b/c the vet said it wasn't done) and she kept sending me the report of when my pup was diagnosed with parasites. Again, messaging in circles and a complete waste of time.

Pawrade says they require a clean bill of health and that theres some sort of guarantee…. That couldn't be more false. And what about my puppy's health?... I would've never known to have her fecal retested for parasites in 4 weeks if I didn't contact the vet directly.

-Transport- the transporter was NOT VETTED…. She was HIRED FROM FACEBOOK…the post indicated Buyer will only pay $450 for a puppy transport from Indiana to Florida…. NOT TRUE AS I PAID PAWRADE $800 for transport…. So not only did they juice me for hundreds of dollars, underpay the transporter and blamed me as if I was the cheapskate, but neither Pawrade nor the vet has ever used this transporter and was not vetted! All of Pawrade's actions reflect they only care about getting the sale complete instead of ensuring the health of the puppy and the safety of the puppy.
Pawrade has yet to offer any concern, acknowledgement, or resolve. I've uploaded all the vet records to the app and I've called numerous times. No one has bothered to call me back which only furthers my frustration and reiterates their lack of integrity.

-DO YOUR HOMEWORK- Don't take my word for it…the Better Business Bureau has them rated 1.5 stars out of 5 stars, TrustPilot has multiple complaints, as do several other consumer sites. The reviews that are on Pawrade's site are controlled by Pawrade so of course they are manipulating these…in fact I posted on their facebook page and they immediately deleted it…again trying to silence legitimate consumer experiences and manipulate public perception. You know a company lacks integrity when they have to delete real reviews/customer experiences…. They alternative would be to cease the unscrupulous business practices.
