I am very satisfied with my purchase. I'm extremely glad they came with instructions and they were easy to follow. My only concern after reading them was preparing the base. I didn't have much room to work with, 3/8' on each side. Luckily I was able to use 3/8' plywood to create a base. Everything was packaged extremely well and I just finished installing them. They came out beautifully. I would highly recommend these columns to anyone.
Complete incompetence- produced wrong work product after multiple emails and phone calls on my part to make sure you got it right. You need to fire the sales rep Elizabeth Hatch that worked with me. I even wrote on the final drawing that I scanned and sent that the pedestal base should have 'square' rather than 'rounded' corners. You sent 'rounded' corners. Your insulting solution was to offer a $40 credit. Seriously? The columns don't match the design of my house and you won't respond or send revised material to correct - but after numerous emails you offer a $40 credit on a $700+ order? Shame on you! I'm trying to escalate via multiple channels including my credit card company, social media and the better business bureau. You guys should just close up and go home. Shame on you. Will never order from you again and I'll do all I can to see that others don't endure the pain I suffered. Any other company would step up and admit they made a mistake. You guys don't even offer to send revised work product. A $40 credit is insulting. Please respond
PCI says "Based on the photos you sent, the defects shown are a result of damage sustained in transit. Damage was not noted on the carrier's bill of lading which releases them and our production team of liability. Because of this, I [PCI] cannot provide free replacements or a refund."
CAUTION #1 - If you buy their columns, DO NOT allow the freight carrier to depart until ALL cartons are opened and inspected. DO NOT allow them to leave without first documenting any damage on the Proof of Delivery (POD) and DO get the driver's signature on it and retain a copy. DO get photos BEFORE they come off the truck and photos of ANY damage to cartons and product. Our shipment weighed 560 pounds and the columns weigh in excess of 100 pounds each. Insist that the freight carrier assign two men to get the columns off the truck WITHOUT YOUR ASSISTANCE when they call to set a delivery appointment.

D. It reads in part:: Consignee Duty and Liability: A Clear Supreme Court Holding and Its Progeny
Unlike many other situations, here, there is very clear case law on this point. The United States Supreme Court has squarely held that the duty to unload goods rests upon the consignee:
The general rule is that it is the responsibility of the carrier... to `deliver' the goods by placing them in such a position as to make them accessible to the consignee. Normally unloading is not a part of the delivery and is performed by the consignee.
PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT - PCI may not have packaged correctly. In view of the apparent fragility of the columns, notwithstanding PCI Online claims to the contrary, the columns fractured. Regardless of how the damage was inflicted, and by whom, mere cardboard boxing of columns stacked upon one another and banded to a pallet less in length than the overhanging eight-foot columns does not afford adequate protection. Additionally, NO SPECIAL HANDLING REQUIREMENTS appear anywhere in any PCI website pages or available pdf literature.
CONCLUSION: In view of the above, it is my VERY STRONG RECOMMENDATION that you DO NOT purchase products from PCI unless you can obtain a written and signed agreement from them that THEY ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY AND LIBILITY FOR ANY AND ALL DAMAGE TO THE SHIPMENT UNTIL IT IS DEPOSITED ON YOUR PROPERTY BY THEIR CARRIER and THEY obtain "CARGO GOODS IN TRANSIT INSURANCE" for the shipment AT THEIR EXPENSE.
Tip for consumers:
Keep a log of ALL events (letters, emails, phone calls) between purchase and delivery.
Do NOT fail to inspect for concealed damage PRIOR to release of delivery agent on purchases of this sort!

I received the columns promptly. They arrived in good condition despite the packaging was not as I expected (which is why I have one 4 rating). Only noticed one small ding/nick can easily be filled with putty.
Pacific Columns' Ryan Shumaker responded to my website inquiry. He followed up with advice and counsel and provided me with all the information necessary... and then some. Karen Uriarte sent the sales order detail and very helpful shipping information. The columns were produced in the quoted 5 days and shipped. FedEx Freight delivered my order seven days later and in good order. The columns look great! I ordered four columns, one of which was split to accommodate an existing major structural support. It works very well. The installation information is outstanding! I wish that other suppliers were as comprehensive and customer oriented as Pacific Columns. A pleasure doing business with you.
We have issues with FEDEX delivery. Their trailer had no liftgate or liftgates too short. The bed of the truck was 4 ft. high off the ground. I cannot lift 741 lbs from any height. I went to our farm, 200 miles round trip, and brought back a 8' X 14' flatbed trailer. Went to FEDEX regional distribution center, 46-mile round trip. Very nice people. A forklift operator loaded the columns on our trailer. The columns (4) are still on my trailer in my driveway. It's been raining since we picked up the shipment. I signed for them, but I have no idea if they arrived in good condition. The weight combined with the rain negates our ability to unload wet cardboard and the columnsJo them. The columns are waterproof, right?
I am very happy with the products and services I received from Pacific column. I am planning on ordering from them again. Products look great installed!
Unfortunately one of the items I ordered, a long crosshead that will go across my front door entry, arrived partially damaged with a small crack extending halfway across the width and in the middle of the crosshead. Apparently this small crack was missed during final inspection, packing and shipping since the shipping box was very well packed and showed no apparent shipping damage. I notified Customer Service of the damage I became aware within 2 days after receipt and unpacking all of the final items of the order I'd received. After explaining the situation and sending pictures of the damaged item, I was soon contacted by Customer Service who offered me the option of their sending me a replacement for the damaged item. I have been extremely pleased with the service I've received so far and am anxiously awaiting receipt of the replacement for the unfortunate damaged item I'd received. Their courtesy and responsiveness in this matter has been commendable.

I placed an order for "columns" - understanding that it would take 14 days to arrive. 7 weeks later they arrived, with some damage to one column. No, I am not returning it - I might not ever see it again. Very disappointed with this company.
I received my order in a timely matter but feel my small order could have been sent ups at a lot cheaper rate.
It was a partial replacement pillar and was within the guidelines for other shipping methods.
I did ask when ordering if I could have it shipped ups and they assured me that it had to be sent with a certain carrier. Just wondering what the reasoning is behind your decision.
I need a price sheet. My company does at least 8 to 15 estimates a week it is very annoying and time consuming to have to call for prices on every estimate .You have a great product line and I would love to use it more butits to involved to get pricing
Pacific Columns was very easy to deal with. The 12"x10' columns took some time to arrive, but reasonable given their special-order nature and truck delivery. They were strapped to a really long pallet and arrived safe-n-sound.
The whole experience of working with Pacific Columns was influenced by the delivery service Sia. After calling Sia the night before the delivery I was told to call back the next morning because it was impossible to tell me ahead of time the exact delivery time, but it would be between 8-5. Because the delivery was to a rental property an hour away from where we live I asked the company to please give us an hour notice. Since I did not hear from anyone on the day of delivery I called the company at 10am and was told the columns would be delivered between 12-2. My husband and I immediately drove to the house and skipped lunch to be at the house on time. The truck did not arrive between 12-2. I called again and was told maybe 2pm. At three pm I was told not until 4 and so we went to lunch. My husband is a diabetic and has a heart condition which made the wait difficult. The house is unfurnished so Joe ended up sitting or laying on the floor. It was a warm day and the constant waiting was stressful. At 4 o'clock we were told may be 5pm. The entire day was very upsetting because it seemed like the people we were talking to were playing with us and deliberately giving us the wrong information. The dispatcher and the driver were supposed to call us and they never did. The driver arrived at 4:45. The driver said that the office knew that our delivery would be among the last delivery because of it being to a personal residence. We have gotten calls from Sia yesterday and today and the man is asking us to set up a delivery for the columns. We are confused and he is confused as to why there is 2 deliveries. We still don't know if have the complete order or not.
I was somewhat reluctant with a large purchase via internet, However I couldn't be any happier with the process as well as the product...The columns arrived safely, quickly and will look great on my project!

Order was not complete in the first shipment. After calling customer service for remainder of parts, no tracking # was provided as promised. The parts did arrive and the order was completed.
The products were pretty nice, the customer support person I dealt with seemed to always have a lot to do, not enough time to answer my questions. The purchase was frustrating, but the end product seems good.
The columns that we ordered are beautiful, and our contractor was impressed with the quality. The only negative part of the experience was the fact that we were promised the columns in about 10 business days. When we called to find out why we hadn't received them, we were told it would be approximately 1 month (from time of purchase). Return calls regarding this issue were not promptly returned; however, the issue was resolved and we received our columns within about 15 days of purchase.
Very helpful & acommodating. posts r several shades lighter than caps but it looks fine. So glad I spent the extra money for this look & to be maintenance free .
Overall a great experience. Columns look great, and were easy to cut the the needed length. Delivery was actually early which was nice.

My only issue is the delivery service. Pacific sent a very helpful e-mail telling me it was shipping, and the shipping company would contact me in a couple days with a delivery window.
Two days later, I came home to find the columns had arrived, without notice.
While I can't complain about the speediness of delivery, I wish the shipping company had communicated better (or at all).
I know that's out of your hands. But I would talk with your shipping company.
Customer service was excellent! Willing to go out of their way to satisfy any questions; however, the overall price including shipping was much higher than if we would have went to a local Lowe's and purchased them. If we had known of such the difference, we would have not ordered. The columns are beautiful, but the caps are of much less quality. Very disappointed in them. Thanks to all who were involved in getting our products to us!
I was happy with the buying process. Delivery took a little longer than I would have hoped for, but no issues along the way once I ordered the product. The price I paid was fair also.
