**BUYER BEWARE - THIS IS HOW OWNWELL HANDLES THE PROBLEMS THEY CREATE!**
Please do not trust this company; they refuse to take responsibility for the issues they cause. They would rather sidestep problems and worsen the situation than actually resolve anything.
I signed up with Ownwell to challenge the tax assessments on seven different properties. In 2024, they did a commendable job, and I paid them approximately $400, including for my primary residence. However, there was an error with one property, which had the seller name "LaRouch" filed with the recorder's office without the corresponding update at the tax office. In 2024, I took the initiative to correct this with the tax office, and Ownwell acknowledged the updated information.
When reviewing my documents for the 2025 challenge, I discovered that "LaRouch" had been incorrectly added to all of my properties. It is evident that an employee made a gross error by updating all properties instead of the one that needed correction — this includes my personal home.
I called on May 5,2025, and spoke with Phillip, who shockingly attempted to place the blame on me, claiming I signed all documents with the incorrect name. I firmly told him that this was an employee mistake, not mine, and that they must fix it. My tax documents clearly reflect only my name, not "LaRouch." He insisted that I would need to re-sign everything, which I flatly refused; I never agreed to a document that included "LaRouch."
I demanded to speak with a supervisor, but he informed me that he couldn't transfer my call due to high volume and that I would simply receive the same response from a supervisor. This is completely unacceptable. After repeatedly insisting on speaking with a supervisor, I waited 45 minutes only to be disconnected. This company is untrustworthy! I am warning you—think twice before engaging with Ownwell.
UG Updated: I received an email from Philip indicating the problem had been resolved and the name Larouch had been removed from all 7 of my accounts and correctly reflects my name as I directed.
