Train Employees on how to find inventory.
February 17, 2024

Came in here at 8:30 PM on 2/17/24 and asked for some robinair high vacuum pump oil. The website said it was in stock, having previously purchased it here as well I knew it was in the back. So, I asked the employee if he could go grab 25 bottles for me. He comes back a in about 30 seconds and says it's out of stock. I pull up the website and show him that it indicates that they do have it in stock. The guy actually won't go look again just flat out says they don't have any, basically to go pound salt,
25 bottles while not the most massive sale in the world at $20 a bottle its nothing to scoff at.
So, I leave and get in my car to go to the Snohomish location that also says they have it in stock. As I drive there I call and ask if they have it in stock. The guy on the phone says let me go check. Comes back and says I don't think we have it. I am like for real for real. So now two stores that say they have it in stock are both out of stock I highly doubt it. It's not like high vacuum pump oil is a hot commodity,

I wasn't going to be dissuaded from my mission so easily so i continued on to Snohomish. As I knew they had it, so I went up in the store and whipped out my cellphone with the page pulled up and said you all carry this see in stock at this location. Get on your computer I'll provide you the part number you'll see.
Enters it in looks at me, and then heads to the back and comes back with my bottle of pump oil. I only ended up buying one because of the hassle I am going to order the rest off of the internet. Your loss O'Reilly you should really work on training your people on how to find products and not just go give a cursory look and say well we don't have it. I shouldn't have to pull out my phone and make them search the part number they should pull up the website on their own and search for high vacuum pump oil to see if they have it,

Shameful display of customer service at both stores Monroe and Snohomish, but at leas

Every time I go to O'reilly to buy vacuum pump oil it is a fight none of the employees know they sell or know where it is in the back it is ridiculous. It typically takes me at minimum 25-30 minutes of arguing with the employee that they do in fact carry it. I usually have to pull out my cellphone show them their web page and give them the part number and it typically takes 10 minutes for them to find it but it usually happens.

Battery and they lied
January 27, 2024

Went in because my car wouldn't start and I wanted my battery to be tested and the guy said yeah you just need a new battery. I am a female and a customer had to speak on my behalf and say she asked for her battery to be tested first. So I got a ticket. He said he would call me the next day that did not happen I had to call back and yes I did need a battery. I asked for it one battery they said it was $130. They said they would set it back with my name on it. I then sent my son in who was in high school when my son got there they told him that they didn't have any left and he paid over $200 for a two-year battery After he installed the battery, I then looked at my bank account and I said why did you pay this much? He said they didn't have any left. I then proceeded to call the store on 100 Street, and the gentleman told me yes they do have one year batteries left! I was livid that you were now lying to customers that go in there to purchase a battery that was held back for me and then you turn around and try to just make an extra $75 or something off of my child because he looks like a high school kid or because I'm a female, he said he called his manager and all the general managers are in Florida right now so there's nothing that can be done, but I could bring my car back and take the battery out and I could switch it out. I said I am in the middle of doing FASFA for my son and it's after 6 PM and it's dark and I was told by the first guy that once I put a battery in my car I can't return it because the seals are popped. He said that they would make an exception in this case, but I would have to come back that night, I cannot change out a battery in the dark. So I am writing all these reviews so women and younger people and everyone knows not to go to O'Reillys! I used to do business with them, but I now go to AutoZone and AutoZone offered me a jump pack, and jumper cables so that I could get my car to them and they would help me with a battery, this was not the customer service experience that I had with O'Reillys, and I knew better not to go back because the last time I went there to buy something they would not help me. They ignored me and help three other people before me just because I was a female, even though I was there. After I purchased what I needed, it was a turn signal or lightbulb. They told me to go up to Valvoline and have them help me put it in. Just want to be aware not to shop at O'Reillys do not give them your business. They do not deserve it the way they treat people, this is not good customer service!

Tip for consumers:

Do not shop here they lie to you just so they can make more money when they have the product in stock

1.bought alternator for 1995 GMC Sierra with in a week it spun off the bolt, and the pulley came off along with the serpentine belt. O'Riley in greencastle would not bring one 4.7miles away, tow truck was gonna take 3 hours so had call one and cost me 110$ for tow to O'Riley's. Where they replaced it. However 2 before that one failed I'm 2 weeks, talked to another customer whom had same issue with alternator failing.
Bought new tired and ball joint ball joint failed 3xs and had replace tie rod 3xs from where was bent from the ground impact as the nut came off the ball joint stud. Intially the new ball joint I bought the counter but had issues going one so had but another. But nut came off stud 2 xs the 3rd truck veered off the road into a 10 foot revine after ended up 150 foot out in a field with my face ripped open. Had be rushed to intensive care from blood loss where spent day and half to finally be released with 15 stitches in my face. Tried speak O'Riley's whom wanted me turn part over to manufacture cause even though they sold it they try say had no liability cause hidden clauses in the bottom page in terms and warranty. I filled complaint bbb and O'Riley tried shrug it off and say they had no responsibility in it even though they sold it. The issues were reported nhtsa whom ignored it after the same thing happened on my last vehicle 2004 Chevy 4.3 the hub split 3 times, the ball joint nut came off newer 2004 dodge ram. Took part to employees at O'Riley's whom admitted to it being bad, ins company said couldn't believe a dangerous part has not been recalled. Have gotten bad fuel pumps, tps, ball joints, tie rods, egr a few times. At this point no sympathy or remorse has been given toward their part almost ending my life by failing. So they have no disregard for customers after selling cheap parts, have no will to stand behind the items they sale if they fail they do not care they blame the manufacturer, employees being auto parts employees would think now stuff but most are average Joe know nothing except what computer says, if you need help or something after a defective part don't be anticipating a hand, hide their clauses when Indiana statues say it must be on the main page in font that can be seen by a average person to know it was there, but if not becomes void and null... was their reasoning for not helping. Still in process of pursuing yet not ignorant and gona give the only thing have to them to send to manufacture to toss in the incenerator and say yeap

Tip for consumers:

Do not trust the parts or expertise as most them have no idea what they are saying...

O'Reilly Auto Parts Burnsville MN
September 17, 2021

I and my daughter had a extremely bad experience with Jake the manager of the Burnsville MN store. I have been buying auto parts from O'Reilly's for over 15 years. My granddaughter's battery died in June of 2020. We purchase a new $200 battery at the Lakeville store. In March of 2021 the battery failed and we returned it to the Lakeville store for warranty replacement. It took less than 5 minutes to find our original transaction and I was on my way with a new battery. Customer service as it should be. The staff was helpful and courteous. On 9/7 my granddaughter's Acura was having difficulty starting and running and the "check charging system" indicator came on for the first time. I had the alternator replaced. Unfortunately, the battery had again failed.
We took the dead battery to the Burnsville Buck Hill O'Reilly's to get a replacement again. Jesse a young associate, checked the battery and confirmed it's demise. He then asked for our phone numbers to confirm the purchase. He couldn't find it. 1. The battery was an O'Reilly brand 2. It was confirmed dead 3. The build date of the battery was stamped on the case 2/21. After 15 minutes Jesse asked the store manager Jake to help him. We recounted to Jake that this was the second time the battery failed and gave him the full story. He affirmed that the battery would be warrantied even if it died because of a faulty alternator. For the next 45 minutes Jake came in and out of the process giving minor assistance. They couldn't even confirm the original transaction even though Lakeville store did it in minutes just months earlier. After an hour my patients expired, I walked to the battery shelf and retrieved a replacement and placed it on the counter. I stated to Jake that 1. It is an O'Reilly battery 2. The date stamp clearly puts warranty in play 3. It is clearly dead. Jake with the worst tone of customer support said "if we can't find it in the system we can't warranty the battery" It is not MY fault or My system that is failing it is O'Reilly's. Jake "I can't warranty the battery if I can't find it. I couldn't believe it. No offer to "pay for it now and we will keep looking and try to find the transaction" Nothing.
Jesse collects our $200 and also charged us for core charge - for the dead battery we left on the counter.

I am the general manager of a major dealership in Burnsville MN. If I or my employees treated our customers like Jake treated my daughter and myself, we would be justifiably fired. Customers today have multiple choices where to purchase vehicles and where to purchase auto parts. That is why customer service is so very important. David O'Reilly, Greg Hensley, Greg Johnson and Jeff Shaw the executive officers of O'Reilly would agree with me. Hopefully they get an opportunity to read this.

I am sure Jake didn't know that I have been buying all my auto parts at O'Reilly's for years. I'm sure that Jake didn't realize that I am the General Manager of an auto dealership that has purchases $3,000 to $5,000 of non OEM auto parts a month from O'Reilly's. After this experience I will be taking my and my dealerships business elsewhere. As I said, we all have choices where we do business. That's what Jake doesn't understand. He was too worried about how to document the warranty exchange.

Poor Quality Product & Poor Customer Satisfaction
June 6, 2021

I bought a $#*!ie's brand seat cover at O'reillys Calais, ME. The manager was unable to tell me if the cover would fit my truck seat, but cordially said to bring it back if it didn't. Good manager, good management. He thanked me for my military service and offered me a military discount. I was thankful and appreciative. The seat cover fortunately fit.

In approximately only two weeks the seat cover had worn a substantial hole in what turned out to be insubstantial material. Very poor quality. Do not buy a $#*!ie's brand seat cover! I returned the $31.49 seat cover with my receipt for a refund at Ellsworth, ME O'reilly. The manager stated a refund was not possible, but reluctantly allowed me to exchange it for another. I wasn't happy with no refund and predicted to him the new seat cover would do the same thing because of the poor quality material.

Sure enough, in approximately the same time of only two weeks this second seat cover wore a whole through the terribly weak, insubstantial, poor quality material. I reiterate do not buy a $#*!ie's brand seat cover.

I returned this second seat cover with receipt to O'reillys Ellsworth, ME again. The manager wasn't there. I explained the situation and my dissatisfaction of the hole in the seat cover to the assistant manager. He said he couldn't offer me a refund or exchange. "It wasn't allowed". "It wasn't a manufacturer defect because it didn't come out of the box that way" and therefore could not be warranted was his explanation. I was completely baffled with this statement and baffled by an assistant manager who didn't care whether the customer was satisfied or not. I questioned him why the manager two weeks ago had allowed an exchange. He called the manager. He stated the manager said he had done the initial exchange as a courtesy but would not do it again. I was left with a seat cover that was no good and $31.49 wasted. I told the assistant manager he had lost an O'reilly customer. He didn't care. He said this happens all the time: "people buy cheap seat covers and they don't last". I said "here"? "No, at Walmart and all kinds of places" was his reply. Then added "but they don't complain".

Imagine that. Again, I am completely baffled. What does all this mean? In this instance anyway, O'reillys didn't care about customer satisfaction even though a product they sold was unmistakably of very, very poor quality. I would suggest buying your auto care products elsewhere. I certainly will be.

I appreciate the manager at Calais who demonstrated customer satisfaction was important.
I appreciate the Ellsworth manager's initial attempt at courtesy. Sadly, despite some initial good action the end result was atrocious. A customer was sold an extremely poor quality product and left having spent $31.49 for nothing. O'reillys is $31.49 richer, the customer is $31.49 poorer. Ellsworth, Me O'reilly management is satisfied with that.

DO NOT BUY A MOTOR FROM these thieves!
September 25, 2019

Bought a rebuild 4.7 in 12-28 of 2016 threw store 854. Borger Texas... had the motor installed, took it back to O'Reillys they did their inspection and checked everything off but failed to give me the serial number on the new motor, a few months later when the rear main started leaking ( which came already on the motor, their fault nobody else's) warranty requested that serial number. I called the store I bought it from they had no record. They told me it would be on the engine somewhere on a sticker and I would be able to find it (The shop myself even had shop break out a Camera looking for the sticker with no luck) warranty told me it was probably behind the water pump which I wasn't going to pay to have took off and replace. Just looking for a sticker) never found it paid for the work out of out of my pocket and a year and a half later the third cylinder fails. Loses compression... pull the motor out of the truck because I know I can't get warranty to honor their lie and low and behold when we pulled the motor and removed the intake down in the valley we finally find a almost destroyed sticker... what a convenient place to put a sticker for warranty Especially if you don't want people to make good on their warranty huh? Now that I have the number off the sticker they are making 1 million excuses why they will not cover the warranty the motor was put together we only dropped it in we did nothing to the inside I believe it was machined wrong on the head there's no intake leak... injector didn't go out the bank was not fuel washed, leak down test shows leak in exhaust valve but they still claim they are not responsible now they want me to send the motor to them... so they can tear it down and go through it and I'm calling bull$#*! I have a certified mechanic and Shop doing that here in my home town... why would you send the motor back to the warranty company who's already saying they're not going to warrantee it? Why So they get my motor back and I get Only the core fee... highway robbery O'Reillys I can't believe you're really doing this? Please do not buy a motor from O'Reilly's and if you do be aware their warranty is crap they do not stand behind what they sell and now that I have the their number off their precious sticker from inside the valley... they are making 1 million more excuses why they will not cover the warranty it... the motor was put together we dropped it in we did nothing to the inside I believe it was machined wrong there's no intake leak injector didn't go out the bank was not fuel washed but they still claim they are not responsible and they want me to send the motor to them so they can tear it down and go through it I call bull crap I have a certified mechanic and shop doing that here why would I send the motor back to the warranty company who is already saying they're not going to warranty it, please! Do not buy a motor from O'Reillys and if you do be aware warranty is crap they do not stand behind what they sell and they will purposely keep numbers from you or hide them in spots you cannot find on the motor. Just to get out of warranty work, good gravy people... essentially I have paid for the motor twice, if I would of known I was going to get a $#*!ty motor and warranty wasn't going to help for the money out of pocket fixing there crappy rebuild. I wouldn't be in the boat. I am I hospice worker and a single mother and O'Reillys has now hurt my job and left me a foot. I will attach a picture of the sticker with their serial number on it which was inside the valley of the intake I have blacked out the number but what a great place to put the warranty sticker shame shame... what a un-American move. BUYER BEWEAR! Scam alert!

Run the other way as fast as you can!!!

Poor customer service
June 7, 2019

This is hands down the worst customer service I have dealt with! I never take the time to write reviews but this was truly insane!. I had purchased 2 6V batteries which carried a minimum 12 month warranty, although this is not a great sign, it is still a warranty.
Within 8 months, the batteries died so I took them back since they were "under warranty". O'Reillys replaced the batteries with new ones which carried the same 12 month warranty. Within 9 months the replacement 6V batteries were dead. I again returned the batteries and was concerned this was now the second time I had to replace these batteries. O'Reillys replaced the batteries with new ones and I went on my way hoping this was the last issue. Luckily I was dealing with someone who had a bit of common sense on this first issue. Within 8 months, guess what, these batteries were dead, so I did what anyone would do. I returned to O'Reillys and asked them to replace the batteries since they are still under warranty. They told me the batteries were no longer under warranty since they use the "Original Purchase Date: which was now over 2 years ago. I asked why they were selling a product that would not last a minimum of 12 months and why they think it is logical to try and apply a warranty from 2 sets of batteries ago that had nothing to do with the ones I was returning. Their response, "even though these batteries were purchased within the last 8 months, we apply the warranty from the original purchase". I demanded to speak with a regional manger about the issue and guess what... he said the same thing. Common sense would say if you give a consumer a product and tell them it has a 12 month warranty, that warranty should start from the time you took that specific product. O'Reillys management and staff however lack the common sense to see that each product is independent of the others and should therefor restart a warranty when giving a customer a replacement part. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out each set of batteries was poorly manufactured thus resulting in battery failure before the 12 month warranty. Rather than ceasing to do business with the manufacturer of the battery, O'Reillys has felt it is a smart idea to provide their customers with a poor product and then replace it with the same poor product knowing it won't last and they don't care. As a very simple comparison, if you, the consumer was to buy a car with a 3 year warranty and the car was found to be ineffective, was then given a new car, one would think this "new car" would have no issues and would definitely not be compared to the other car. If you are a person with absolutely no common sense, no concern for customers you serve or lack of integrity please apply for a position at oreillyauto.com where they are always looking for someone who can help push their junk inventory to the public.
Sincerely,
Someone who cares about others.
