Outsourced customer service to Phillipines.
April 15, 2025

Optum bank is primarily an online bank for HSA purposes. My employer directed us to work with them for our HSA accounts. Most the service was fine. They have an easy to use website. They also offer an investment option. I only lost money here. Also, they charge a monthly fee if your account is under a certain threshold. I retired and used the balance of my account. I closed my account. After closing, one of my providers refunded money into my CLOSED account. This took place in October. Come January it's tax time and I discover this balance in my account. It took me 4 phone calls to get them to refund me my money. I just received it in April. Calling customer service, they outsourced to the Phillipines! They read you pleasant things, but don't understand how to do what you request. I had to make a FDIC complaint to get my refund.

Tip for consumers:

You have a choice with your money. Choice a bank with service in the U.S.

Products used:

This is a bank servicing health savings accounts. Your earned income goes tax free into the account. You get a debit card to use at medical appointments and to make medical qualified purchases.
