Sold me 5 yards MILDEWEY scented fabric - won't help with anything but bad attitude
September 20, 2016

Immediately upon opening the $89 package, the mildew smell is obvious. I cut a small piece off and washed it in Tide (even though it's Dry Clean Only) in the hopes that the mildew would be washed away. It didn't work. The expensive fabric still looks beautiful, but the smell is horrendous. I had to put it out of the house because of allergies and asthma for the few hours it was inside the house. I finally received a response to my emails (I also tried their livechat and was ignored) and was told "had the warehouse pull the remaining stock from the bins in the back and check for a mildew smell which was not found. I wouldve been able to take the fabric back for a refund if it had not been cut but as stated in our return policy we cannot accept refunds on cut fabric. My apologies." Either the fabric they checked was not the same as what they sold me, their noses don't work well at all, or they're flat out lying about it. Their noses may be desensitized by continuously being in that environment. I don't know. I offered to send them a piece so they can tell for themselves, I doubt they'll take me up on that. I also offer to send ANYONE a piece of this so they can smell for themselves.

I NEVER asked for a refund. I specifically asked for suggestions or tips about how to get rid of the mildew. I thought that since they were in the fabric business they might have some special knowledge or tips. No, they just have incredibly rude attitude and zero customer service. I wish I had read the reviews before deciding to purchase anything from them.

Updated to add this email from them: " Good Afternoon, I apologize for the inconvenience and you are welcome to send it back and attention it to my name so we can take a look at it. Regards,"

She now offers for me to return the entire piece for them to evaluate? No. I had just that morning decided to turn this experience into an experiment and cut it up into pieces for experimenting with different dry cleaners and my own washing machine. I washed twice in Tide powder and put through clothes dryer. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that a rogue washcloth had gone through the wash/dry cycle with the fabric. As I took it out, I noticed the smell and realized what had happened. I wonder if this fabric is treated with something that causes this smell? I've worked with upholstery fabric for almost 40 years and new fabric never smells like this. I can't imagine someone using this to upholster an entire piece of furniture or make a duvet cover, etc. because of the odor.

Of course, the above is my opinion, the odor is a hard fact.
