“CAUTION-BUYING A USED VEHICLE. Beware.”

12/24/15

My wife bought a car 3 weeks ago at One Toyota of Oakland. 2014 NISSAN ROGUE 36,000 Miles on it. Put a couple of thousand down signed papers and we bought a warranty on it and my wife had an early xmas present, so we thought. When we drove off the lot we noticed the low tire pressure sensor light was on. I assured my wife that a little air in one of the tires and the light would go out. NOT. 3 days later i bring it back, they put air to the specs, but light is still on. I make an appointment for two days later Friday, which my wife brings it in while shes on vacation. She waited over 3 hours and gets the vehicle back. When she drives off after waiting 3 hours, the light comes back on again. She wakes up the next day - Saturday at 6am and brings it in to One Toyota of Oakland when the service department open at 7am. The Service Manager Todd Fitzsimmons tells her that since she doesn't have an appointment and that this should have been planned, he would not give her a rental car. He stated it would only be a couple of days. My friend picked up my wife and went and informed the service manager that my wife needed a car because she is a care giver. The service manager seemed annoyed by my friend, but provided a rental car for my wife to drive. It has been 2 1/2 weeks since they have the vehicle and no word. I called 5 days ago and after holding on the phone for 40 minutes, i was told that the vehicle had been sent to Nissan and because we didnt have an appointment and its the holidays who know how long its going to take. Well its now Tuesday. The 1st payment car note arrived in the mail, but my wife has not even driven the car. The down payment check cashed. The dealer did not give me a copy of the warranty contract so i wont know my rights. I am wishing that i would have stayed clear of one toyota. Wherever you buy your car and get a warranty, is where you will have to return the car for service. Yelp has many negative complaints from dissatisfied customers from one Toyota of Oakland. So my advice is before you make a decision to get off the Hegenberger exit and go to one Toyota of Oakland. Read this post and make an educated calculated decision. I am in Public Safety and have never treated people the way my wife and i have been treated. Treated like a mushroom in a dark room.
