My bull terrier Tucker's birthday is still a few months away. But, I thought I would take a look at the Okra and Molly website where I ordered his cake last year because the whole experience from start to finish with this small company was fantastic. I bring up the website and start to scroll and what do I see? Tucker! The picture of him last April getting ready to dive into his Okra and Molly Birthday Cake! If you have a dog, and want to celebrate his or her birthday, I highly recommend Okra and Molly. Shipping is fast, the Birthday Cake and other items are high quality, the cakes are sold at an excellent price, and the staff is friendly and just all around excellent. Tucker gives them 2 paws up, he said he would give them all 4 but he doesn't want to fall over!
I received an email saying the cakes were delivered. They were nowhere to be found or in the mailbox. There is no way to contact this company if there is a problem. As they make sure not to list a phone number for questions. This one is on me for choosing this business but it won't happen again. This is not me being rude but you should have better customer service that this.
I recently had the opportunity to try the offerings from Okra & Molly, and while I was thoroughly pleased with the cake itself, I cannot help but express my deep frustration and disappointment with their service.
Let's start with the positives. The cake I ordered was an absolute delight. Its taste and presentation exceeded my expectations, leaving my taste buds truly satisfied. The careful craftsmanship and attention to detail in the cake's design showcased the bakery's dedication to their craft.
However, the glow from the cake was dimmed by the unfortunate experience I had with their service. It all began with a missed delivery date, which immediately set off a series of frustrations. To make matters worse, they managed to misspell my beloved dog's name on the cake. Distressed by these issues, I decided to reach out to the bakery via email to address the situation.
To my disbelief, the response I received lacked the basic courtesy of an apology. Instead, the tone of their message took a surprising turn – they started lecturing me. This unprofessional and dismissive approach to customer service left me feeling not only frustrated but also utterly infuriated. When dealing with such matters, empathy and understanding go a long way, and it was disheartening to see these crucial aspects sorely lacking.
In summary, my experience with Okra & Molly was a mix of delight and disappointment. The cake itself was a masterpiece of taste and aesthetics, showcasing the bakery's culinary prowess. However, the shadows cast by a missed delivery, a misspelled name, and an unsatisfactory response to my concerns left me questioning the quality of their customer service. As a customer who was ready to be won over by their offerings, I am left with a bitter taste in my mouth – a sentiment that, unfortunately, overshadows the sweetness of their cake.
Last year the cake seemed to be a little bit more moist than the one received this year. My dog didn't seem to enjoy it as much as last year. Perhaps taste buds changed. The only noticeable difference I noted was the moisture of the cake seemed less this year. So I'm not really sure. She had a few bites at least
My dog loved the taste of his birthday cake. Placed my order on Wednesday for delivery Friday. Originally ordered a 3 tier cake. I immediately sent an email saying I forgot to choose fast shipping if there was a way I can pay the difference to arrive Friday. I received a quick response, and was told cake with arrive Friday if I do overnight Air (meaning will be shipped out Thursday morning Friday arrival). Unfortunately they did not have the middle tier so had to downgrade to the big dog size cake. After numerous emails back and forth, my cake did not arrive until Monday evening. So a cake prepared Wednesday night, paid for overnight shipping, arrived 5 days later. I could of paid regular shipping and receive the cake the same day. The employee did not state in any email that there would be a chance it would arrive late due to UPS shipment, said if I paid for overnight, it would arrive Friday. I would not recommend ordering a cake unless you order far enough in advance. As far as quality of cake and party supplies, my dog Frank and I would give that 5 stars. Quality of service, not so much.

Chase really loved his Pup Cake it arrived on the 19th not on the 21st as requested, but well before his birthday on the 22nd. This only gave him 1 day to eat the cake no leftovers for Chase. I wasn't to please with spending $26 on a pup cake when he only was able to enjoy one slice. The cake was pretty and apparently very tasty to Chase.
I am not sure why, but this time around they sent me the wrong flavor cake and it arrived 2 days after my chosen date (which I get they cannot control, but I think it was shipped late too). Normally, 5-star experience, but this time not so much.
I was able to order my first two birthday cakes with ease. The cakes were beautiful and the doggies loved them. The 2nd experience ordering a 6 month birthday cake was not a good experience. I didn't end up getting what I really wanted and it was just difficult process that took about 10 emails to partially resolve.
I was pleased the cake came on time, but definitely unhappy with the color scheme. They do not give you any color option for the actual decor part of the cake. I have a girl dog and the cake came with brown paw prints on it...
Sadly I will not be ordering again for that reason. Unless I can the choose the colors of the cake I am already paying a lot for it doesn't seem to be worth it.
For those that want to choose their own colors scheme, there is the Color Your Own Cake option. There are also reference pics on each cake page to give you insight into what your cake may look like, and carob brown is one of them(ps, doggies think it's yummy).
Loved the cake but ordered candles with it and NEVER recieved them emailed and have not got a response
I love the timing and shipping. My dog just didnt take a great liking to it. And she loves dog cake and treats.
If I were to rate this review solely on the quality of the product and the super timely shipping, it would be five stars. The cake was beautifully made and even my super picky dog enjoyed it!
A mistake unfortunately happened in the processing of my order that resulted in it shipping and arriving late (just by day though); details are not important because mistakes happen. The three stars are because I don't feel I was properly compensated for a mistake that was not of my fault. I received an email explaining the mistake, which I thought was unnecessary. Mistakes happen; don't need to go into detail about the mistake was made just to throw someone under the bus. All that was needed was something about there was mistake in the processing of the order that may or may not result in a delay in delivery. All I received was the email and an order that arrived a day late. Nothing else.
Super happy with the timing when it got there and the looks of it but the cake was very very crumbly and SUPER dry-not quite what I was expecting out of peanut butter and pumpkin(2 wet ingredients)
We're a dog cake bakery providing holiday, birthday, and adoptiversary cakes to owners who want to celebrate with their best friend. Also includes dog toys.
Hey Aronna, i'm sorry to hear that, but the 22nd is Thanksgiving for which there is no shipping, and due to that holiday shutdown, shipping delays are common, so we try to get cakes out early to make sure you get them. An early cake is always better than a late one, and there are freezing instructions in the box should you need them. Had we aimed for delivery on 22, you'd have gotten a cake on the 23rd.
