This is a great dating site to find serious love partner. Most profiles are real people. Dated several there and married one too.

People don't respond much on here and they want more money to have you profile shown more often when others are searching. I pause 59 for the subscription what a waist of money never again

Ok cupids filters are weak. I am absolutely not attracted to African women and have no desire to travel there. Yet every time I boost, I get likes and intros for 90 African women who I have to reject. Giving them hope that I might like them is cruel. It's better for them to not see my profile.

Also, it would be nice to have a filter option that let's me search for women by country. If you like Brazilian women, you should be able to search for them.

I am very sad that I have to lower my rating from 5-star to 3-star. Edit: And now to 2 stars. Every change in recent few years made it worse and worse. Also, every change of interface created tons of glitches. First the site stopped showing who visited you. It's o. K, because it made messaging and likes more important. Than they removed the possibility to see when someone was online. So you can be stuck in messaging someone, who wasn't there for years. Then they opted out messaging, unless you match with someone. It would be o. K, if girls were clever enough, to understand the principle of Liking and Matching. 90% of profiles now claim "Message me, I don't see likes". Recently they introduced some form of instant chat client. Which is so buggy, it's awful to use. Especially on mobile version. Speaking of mobile... I never could use mobile app, because it was not available for my region. And later because my device is not compatible. The most recent change is they limited number of Likes per day. It would be o. K, if it also wasn't so glitchy. Twice already my limit time expired, but magically it instantly renewed for another 24h on itself. The latest is that in Browse users you don't see those "who you liked" anymore. Are you people doing it deliberately, to destroy the site?

I must say I was free user all the time. And therefore it is still better than most other sites

It just fits me for some reason

I've been using a lot of dating sites, with more or less luck. Every site has it's pro's and con's. But OKCupid seems like a place, that has been so thoroughly developed. Many say it's a CIA project. Well, it's been developed by professionals, that's for sure:)

1. The search option is nice. You can choose between several criteria, even if you are a free user.

2. Messaging system became messy lately, but I got used to it. You need to match with someone in "Double take" game, to send her a message. I don't have a problem with that. It prompted a lot of girls to start playing the game, after all. And yes, it helps chasing away fake users.

3. There is a lot of room to describe yourself, on all aspects of life. I was always putting a lot of effort in that matter. And appreciated users who also do it. You can create more photo albums and put a lot of photos on your profile. You can also connect Instagram profile.

4.It seems to me that it attracts somewhat more intellectual users, which I like. Maybe that is the reason why many reviewers are complaining:)

The downside is there are so many transgenders. But it's not the technical issue, so I can't complain.

What else to say? I've met plenty of people through OKC, from all around the world. My current relationship is conceived on OKC. It is only one of the reasons for a 5 star rating

I joined OK Cupid hoping to meet local ladies to interact with. Sadly the overwhelming majority of the women on the site are from other countries looking for assistance in coming to America. That is not what I signed up for. Unless you are looking to import women stay clear of OK Cupid.

Tip for consumers:
I requested a refund but got no response

Hello everyone! Please be aware of this OkCupid app. They are full of scammers and will only take your money. Thanks to my stars I was able to recover my funds back from them, they have stolen from me altogether over 60,000 USD from my bitcoin wallet after I agreed to an investment and bitcoin mining for profit. Later, they won't return my messages and calls. I had to follow through with a recommendation from a close friend of mine about Datrek Recovery that was of great assistance to get my money back from these online fraudsters.

Tip for consumers:
Many thanks to Datrek Recovery Company who helped me pursue my claim and money back.
If you're smart, Please stay away from those people on OkCupid claiming to help with crypto investments

Nobody talks on here so can only imagine the women must get inundated with messages from men like every other site

It's better than POF but that's not saying a great deal and at least profiles are filled out

I did get 73 likes in 2 days but I needed to pay to see and can't help but think they weren't genuine likes at all

The women all seem to enjoy telling you how intelligent they are and how they're very independent and how they don't need a man in their life. I've always found that those who are intelligent don't need to tell everyone

There seems to be a lot of liberals who are on here and make it clear that unless you hold the same political viewpoint as them you're wasting your time. Such tolerance... unable to accept differing viewpoints

I'm guessing there's a correlation with the fact they've been single for years and the fact they're bleeding heart liberals. Still on the plus side most have cats so they'll be happy in their old age

Nukes your messages if you don't send them money. They track and profile you and probably read your private messages as well. Cannot use proxies with this site. People on the site are very new age and ageists. Don't waste your time and personal info with this site as they just want your money and will throttle your account until you cough up the cash.

OKCupid has a nice interface and the questions it asks are a good way to get to know someone. The people (at least in my experience) seem real. I've used it in the past, been on loads of dates and met my last long-term relationship from there.

Having recently become single, I decided to try it out again. Unfortunately, they have changed the site in such a way that only messages from people who have 'matched' will be seen. Basic dating site maths means this enormously reduces the chances of meeting someone you get on with, and your messages aren't likely to even reach the inbox of the intended recipient. At the same time, if someone has messaged you, you won't see it unless you've seen and swiped right on their profile beforehand. You might have been sent a dozen messages and not know about any of them.

A really nice site, spoiled by a weird attempt to kill off connections between people. It's still possible to eventually match with people by spending hours swiping away like a drone, but remember that there are many times more men than women on here, so the chances that you'll even be shown to a woman as a possible match if you're male are pretty low (assuming it randomises users when showing them on the match screen).

The changes have significantly reduced the popularity of the site, but I suspect they were done as someone's pet project and they're too stubborn to reverse things.

I'm now having more luck elsewhere, hopefully they'll see sense and change it back.

I've gone off and on with this site a few times. I find it fun to use so am giving it 2 stars, the quality of men I give 0. I see the same the guys always on there. They LIVE on this site. Apparently all the other women find them repulsive or they wouldn't be spending their lives on there with obviously no results! 99% of the men are thug types, look like serial killers or have huge beards. Get a clue.

OK Cupid is one of those sites I've used at various points in the last ten years or so. There's been times when I've gone out with people on there (though those relationships have been short lived), had hookups from there, and I'm reasonably familiar with some of the major changes on the site over the years.

One of the bigger transitions in recent years has been that more and more of the site has been hidden away behind a paywall. When I first used the site in 2014 or so, most of the site's major features were free to use. There were a few things that you had to buy a premium account for (stuff like being able to see who'd liked you account and so on), but enough of the site was free to use that it didn't really matter. A premium account might have more stuff, but the free accounts were easily used as well.

Ever since I think 2017-ish, the site has increasingly transitioned to being a more premium heavy service. This makes business sense for the company because they have to make their money somehow, and I guess it is a little difficult to be making money consistently when the service is optimally based around a revolving door of users. I'm not really sure it makes as much sense for consumers, because social media isn't a thing most people think of as being a thing you should pay for.

I think that's ultimately the story of a lot of the changes OK Cupid has made over the last three or four years. There's a lot of stuff that makes a lot of sense on a surface level, but the execution doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

The best example of this is the like feature. While five years ago, this was mostly just a premium thing that didn't necessarily affect the free user experience, now it's a central part of the site's design. Before you can message someone, you have to have liked their profile.

This makes sense on a surface level because that kind of easy proof that you liked each other's profiles can help with a match. It can also help cut down on some of the outright harassment you might expect to see on a site like this, given that there are people who would harass others if they didn't get a date. However, because you have to pay to see who's liked you, you end up missing out on a lot of potential matches if you're only using a free account.

The search function also leaves a lot to be desired. While once you could potentially search through all accounts, narrowing down the results based on your personal preferences, now you basically only get to see maybe five or ten accounts at a time, and you have to either like or pass on profiles if you want to see others. I think this is a silly design feature because it makes it more difficult to see how many people are currently active in your area, and how many people are just being recommended just because they happen to live in the same state as you.

You're also now unable to see who's viewed your profile and who hasn't. This used to be a fairly major feature of the site that was available with free accounts, but now it doesn't exist anymore. I think it'd make even more sense to have this kind of feature now that so much of the site is based around the like feature, because even if you didn't have a premium account, you might still be able to make an educated guess about who'd liked your profile and who hadn't.

The one good change OK Cupid has made has been to ask for text message verification when you sign up for a new account, similar to what you might go through to secure an email address. This can potentially limit the number of catfish overall on the site, especially over the long term, because less people will be willing to hand over their mobile phone number to an internet company just so they can screw around with other people for a little bit.

Still, overall, I feel like OK Cupid has gotten to the point where so much of the site's basic functions are hidden away behind a paywall for it to really be feasible to be using a free account anymore. I think the company would be better off just switching to a paid service at this point.

Tip for consumers:
If you're not willing to pay for a premium account, you might wanna look elsewhere.

It's free. I never get responses. Most of the women are not attractive. Most of us will never find love in any form we try and the electronic world is no different. But I least I don't have to pay. You get what you pay for. You see what I mean?

Not realistic because women will get more attention on here than in real life so it seems to give them an inflated ego. Most don't even respond to your messages and if they do it might be a word or two but hardly ever reply by asking a question back. And if you do actually meet up with someone, well most likely they will be fooling around on the site looking for attention and Mr. Perfect. I'm sure there are some good women on OKCupid but you have to dig really deep to find them. Oh yeah, women like to post their best pics which may not be current. Sadly enough I've met plenty of women who looked nothing like what they advertised.

I having nothing negative to say about the site itself, OK Cupid. However, my experience as an older male, with seemingly desirable traits, has been a slice of hell. I meet with more deceit on this site that I have in years of actual every day interaction.
My problem has not been one I often hear about from men, not receiving responses from ladies after sending a message. I have received responses. I even met 2 women. I was a gentleman, pleasant, just myself. This was to no avail. I thanked both of them for meeting for coffee and waited for their response. One did not respond at all. The other claimed that she thought she was ready to date but now has decided not to do so. On 3 other instances, the ladies responded. One just "breadcrumbed". I asked to meet her. She didn't ignore me but gave excuse, one after the other, so I just gave up. Another thanked me for being patient and responded to me with one sentence telling me she was busy and I deserved a complete writing from her when she isn't so busy, that was 3 weeks ago. Then another responded right away. She said she wanted time to really look over my profile. That was 10 days ago. Women like to claim that they only receive coarse messages from shallow men. I write pleasant messages that refer to something they mention in their profile. I am in great shape, financially & emotionally responsible. Yet on Cupid, I can't even get beyond deceit from 60 year old women. What is going on? I understand that the imbalance, the large amount of men on these sites results in women receiving lots of attention while men struggle. It has not been worth my time and effort. Every few days, I do receive a message from a homely lady asking all kinds of questions as if she is in such demand & if i do everything correctly, I may, I just might, stand a chance with her.

Have used ok cupid on and off for a number of years. But have noticed a rapid decline in it's usable, free functions that were available on the site. For example, you can longer see users that viewed your profile. The messaging functions are now very limited. To name but a few of the functions that were available for free. Due to this reason, could possibly mean a decline in the amount of people now using the site? There also seem to be a lot more fake profiles and likes etc. Which may be a way of getting you to sign up to it's paid functions? As you can only see your likes if you sign up to it's paid services. These are just a few of my gripes with ok cupid, which is a real shame as it used be a great dating website. But won't bother with it anymore, even if it is a free(ish) dating website!

Not sure if I've been doing something wrong -- I think I'm not-ugly and put pretty good effort into my profile, messages, and answers to site questions without being rude, negative, creepy, or long-winded -- but I almost never got a reply in my 1.5-year use of this site, despite messaging dozens of women with a high match percentage; and when I did get a reply or even a first message, my reply to it didn't yield a reply. Apparently from what I've read the women are inundated daily with dozens of messages, many of them from bots, scammers, lechers, rude guys, etc, so I imagine the selection process is pretty difficult and competitive; but still, using this site seems utterly futile after a while, and I've pretty much exhausted all my good options (which were honestly many). What's more, I read not long ago that OkCupid actually lies to users about their percentage compatibility with other users, meaning it's possible that I saw users with match percentages very different from the ones they saw with me. I recommend sticking with old-fashioned methods of finding dates and using this site as a secondary means if anything.

I have used this site for years. In my "settings", I have always chosen the privacy option that is supposed to allow only other site members to view my profile. My personal info is not supposed to be used for OkCupid's advertising purposes.

However, I have just discovered that when someone Googles my user name, one of my photos comes up, and with it, a paragraph from my profile appears. This is one of the methods OkCupid uses to advertise its site.

What is it about "private" that OkCupid doesn't understand?

I live in California, I look ok and I am a computer engineer so I was surprised to get almost no response from women I contacted, and no one contacted me. In the past I had good experience with other dating sites( that are not free).
So I decide to check what is going on. I created a fake profile of a 43 year old woman who looks above average. This profile got 220 messages in less than 24-hours that it was open.
So I think that the chances for a men to meet a woman in this site are quiet small, at least California.

I was a long time user, well over a year and paid for Basic Service as it worked quite well for me. I had to renew so I did the same "Basic" service only to find out the features I wanted had been moved to "Premium" but I could not pay until Support reset my account. Ok, so I will pay the Premium price. I did and my bank flagged it as an online fraud transaction, not a problem and good for them, but it locked me out of Cupid. I contacted support(The software for Billing is just worse than pathetic) asked them to reset my account since it is the only way to fix it and I would do Paypal.
Instead of helping me spend money they locked me out completely and Support has been unresponsive.
So they block a customer willing to spend money,, GIANT RED FLAG.
As someone who has spent 25 years in the software industry all I can say is the interface for each person is very good and easy to use. But it stops there and OMG this is the buggiest site I have ever come across.
For starters I would see what I "Disagreed" with someone on a question and we matched perfectly, yet Cupid flagged it as unmatched.
It gets even better, I noticed I would see the "Like" popups come up when I got on the site. When I went to the "LIKE" section they were nowhere to be seen. I contacted support and no answer. A few days later I get flooded with "LIKES" I start going through the list and find out most had "LIKED" me months ago, some over a year ago and I had never seen them. A GIANT RED FLAG
Then the recent ones that I had a conversation with just disappeared for no reason. One we were exchanging emails and she was still on and could see me, but I could not see her. GIANT RED FLAG.
None of the messages are dated or time stamped, really? Such a simple thing. Plus the messaging system is not user friendly at all. A simple thing like hitting the "ENTER" key does not give you a new line it sends what you typed. In my life I have never seen a system do that,
The Billing system is just horrible. If anything goes wrong with your payment, you don't get a chance to correct it like any other site. It does not come back with any errors and locks you out of your account until Support resets it. I have programmed Billing systems and this is first grade type of functionality.
I could rattle on about how bad the matching system is when it shows me people 100 miles away and I specifically said no more the 50.
This site just has too many problems so I am off it for good. I would steer clear of this one there are too any other dating sites that actually work as intended.

Tip for consumers:
Billing system is horrible. Matching system is pathetic but the interface to the matches is nice
