A venue for neighborhood bullies to excel and the ignorant to join in on the festivities. NEXTDOOR IS POLITICALLY BIASED AGAINST ANYONE CONSERVATIVE.
Recently rejoined a month ago, the jabber on nextdoor is jovial, if you attempt sincere critisizm you will be kick off for days or weeks. There is no logic to the moderator method other than "I am always right" and "if people insult my intelligence or argue my idiotic point, I kick them off the platform!". As others on here have said, they suffer the delusion they are gods. They could not take valid criticism constructively, probably because NextDoor itself is on the precipice of extinction and has no future.
My local next door has be come a "go fund me" I need money board. I understand that times are hard but to post a help me i need money is becoming overwhelming.
My initial complaint was that Nextdoor included 30 surrounding neighborhoods, making it too big. However, I discovered that you can specify which neighborhoods are included in your "feed", which makes it much more relevant. Of course, some of the posts are just crazy or stupid or worthless, as are some of the comments, but these are easily recognized and skipped over, and there are plenty of useful posts and discussions to make the site worthwhile. And if you've lost a pet or need help, the response can restore your faith in humanity.
During sign-up, nextdoor wanted access to my contact list and would not proceed without it, but I saw no valid reason for them to need that and refused to betray the trust of everyone on that list. I stopped at that point and sent a message to nextdoor. They never replied, Update: They never said anything about my refusal to give access to my contact list, but they did approve my membership. Now that I've used the site, I discovered that my "neighborhood" includes about 30 surrounding neighborhoods, so most of the people aren't even close to being "nextdoor". There are some nice features, but overall my reaction is still "meh".
Many moderators are part of a clique of usually retired or unemployed domestic homemakers that are busy judging people they consider socially below them. They accuse people if digital panhandling. They purge people's posts about needing assistance. They are allowed and encourage to join in on public shaming. It promotes some of the nastiest attitudes of the wanna be elite.
Worse I have ever experienced.
I tried to advertise my business with next door,
They have charge me $142, a month for the past 5 or 6 months and I haven't seen an ad on their site yet. More significantly there there seems to be no way of contacting them, no phone number and they won't call you. See the rating they have. They will only try to take your money.
What can I say that hasn't already been said…
If there was a People's Choice Award for most divisive social media platform it would have to go to NextDoor. The content moderation is so absurdly bad that it almost seems intentional. It's as if NextDoor is designed and operated to function as an amplifier of free floating anxiety in the general population. Stay away if you value your data and your sanity.
If you're conservative and not absolutely insane, I'm sure they'll allow you to say whatever you want. As for the rest of us- it'll be a 4 day ban for "disrespect." Because conservatives mistake disagreement for disrespect and Nextdoor agrees. I can't wait until my 4 day ban is up to so that I can properly delete my account.
Their Terms Of Service support anarchist groups and suppress Pro Police organizations like Blue Lives Matter! #SOCIALIST!
LEAVE NEXTDOOR NOW!
I am not on this vile site, but was targeted by a nextdoor members. I was driving near my home when I came upon two bike riders. They say me and moved to the side of the road. I moved over into the oncoming lane, to give them plenty of room. I pulled in my driveway and the two bikers pasted my home. Hours later I was contacted by a friend about a post on nextdoor, about me. Warning people about the crazy old kootand my driving. Inaddition my address was given. Addtional post called me a damagerous person. This site is for people with no backbone. When Sharon t pasted my house she could have stop to talk to me about what she thought happened, but instead she hides behind her computer. I've tried to get the post removed, but nextdoor has done nothing. They don't vet posts, so its anything goes. This is the cesspool of social media, stay away!
More liberal busybody HOA types censoring content. Anyone can hit a report flag that anything that offends them and the conservative stuff comes down and users blocked and the libs stay on.
Nextdoor wants to be the neighbor everyone wants to adore. But it really just wants to collect data.
Nextdoor changes perimeters of maps without any real notification so you really don't know how far away someone really resides. There appears to be no one questioning the verification processes. In fact, I am not sure they even use a verification process.
It also blocks a lot of comments for questionable reasons. Leads are power tripping, and back stabbing in some cases.
Not sure it will fit much of anyone's needs other than list lost pets and did you lose your electric.
TWO MEN CAME TODAY AND TRIMED MY TREES IN THE FRONT YARD AND THE BACK YARD.
THEY DID THE WORK OF TEN MEN IN OUR FLORIDA HOT SUN, MY YARD LOOKS GREAT. MY PALM TREES WERE TALL AND HAD LOTS OF BERRIES THAT WOULD FALL EVERY DAY. THEY CLEANED UP ALL THE DEBRIS FROM THE BERRIES AND CLEANED UP THE YARD WHEN THEY WERE FINISHED EVEN THE POOL. THEY DID A GOOD CLEAN JOB. I WILL USE THEM AGAIN NEXT YEAR
I didn't particularly notice any political bias on my area's NextDoor and I mainly interacted with the app for referrals and other neighborhood information. I used a pseudonym because I am wary of disclosing my real name to a wide variety of strangers. Lo and behold my account was suspended without notice; when I tried to reinstate it a year later to post a referral for my handyman, I was self-righteously informed that I needed to "reactivate" my account by providing my "real first and last name." No way Jose!
Nextdoor App
Conservatives must definitely use caution, it's very easy to be removed permanently, if you go against the Lead's agenda.
I find this app best for locating missing pets and sharing photos of wild animals from a game camera... you know, the cute ones!
4 star rating only for locating missing pets, l find the rest of the information to be one-sided and it's best to do your research for the facts and figures presented.
Always use caution when meeting someone for the transfer of money for the goods being sold... sometimes it's not worth the risk. No matter what the money saving value is.
Unless you subscribe to a flaming liberal mindset on everything you will be banned, silenced, bullied, etc. I'm talking about comments that violated no community standard but were deleted solely for the reason that they represented a conservative viewpoint and differed from the herd mentality. Don't even bother downloading the app. Beyond useless.
When nextdoor removes a comment they tell you which comment and why it was removed. When you get suspended (a much more serious punishment) they don't tell you what comment caused the suspension.
Toxic environment fostered by Marxist "Comunity Leaders". Forget reporting anyone who attacks you and breakers their "Comunity Standards@ you get banned and they are still on the site. WTF?
The pervasive amount of false facts touted by leftist ideologues of utter nonsense propaganda even the Marxist Snopes has proved false is mind blowing.
What's funny is I'm an independent voter, yet with all the BS anti-American post. I'm without reservation, walking away from TOXICDoor and will never vote Democrat again.
We had a pool built last August and asked our pool builder, should we have the Travertine sealed; He replied yes, if you don't want it to stain. We asked him who should we call. He said, Carolina Sealing Xperts was the only company in Charlotte that actually knows what there doing. We called and Mr. Neil Shepard came out and explained what, why and how. I found Mr. Shepard to be very professional, easy to talk to and very honest. We hired them to clean and seal our decking. My husband and I are thrilled with the results and would recommend this company to anyone that wants or needs there travertine deck sealed. Friends had there deck sealed by another pool builder and destroyed there travertine. We explained and they hired Mr. Shepard to fix there travertine decking.
Thank You, Neil

I don't even know where to begin, this is the absolute worst App of all time! From impossibly long scroll times when using on iOS, to it asking for my phone number to verify my address by sending me a text and then never getting a text and then it says to verify by postcard code, to posts not being in chronological order (ESPECIALLY!), to posts that were at the top of the list when I log in to then being somewhere else way down the list and impossibly hard to find after logging out and then logging back in after only a couple of minutes, to the search function being useless, etc, etc. I absolutely HATE this App!
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
