However, concerns arise regarding customer service, particularly related to billing issues and the difficulty of reaching support. I have been going back and forth for years, between Ancestory.com and MyHeritage.com without being able to afford both. I recently took another look at MyHeritage.com and boy, have there been some major updates, I am impressed. When my subscription ended at Ancestory.com I moved all my data to MyHeritage Family Tree Builder to continue my work on my tree offline. I can quickly and conveniently add and edit my tree with ease. Combine that with many tools to help me clean up, many, many imports make looking into this software worthwhile and the price is right. Customer Service has been responsive with all my dealing whit them.
I had a bit of difficulty getting a problem solved via their e-mail support.
But today we managed to get it sorted, thanks to Mr. Dean from their Support Department.
This is good and honest company, only suggestion I'd leave is to improve the e-mail support or make the phone support more easily found on the site.
Tried 7 day free trial and cancelled it 2 days later but they still billed my credit card for a years subscription. Have complained via their support desk but only get computer generated replies. They need to address complaints with personal replies and good outcomes.
Charged me fifteen times in one day for my annual subscription, I complained and afterwards charged three more times overdrawing both my PayPal account and my bank account. The lady at MH I just spoke to in Tel Aviv(!) said their banking hours were Sunday - Thursday. This being a Friday she can do nothing till Sunday, have a nice day. Be aware that if you opt to pay through Paypal then Paypal will set a direct debit with your bank on your behalf. Their email to me contains English more akin to a Nigerian scam than anything else.
DO NOT TOUCH WITH A BARGE POLE

I purchased a subscription to MyHeritage in response to an offer transmitted by an affiliated company called FamilyTreeDNA. Although this on-line purchase transaction seemed straightforward, it did not give me access to the services I had just purchased. After my first effort to resolve the problem through MyHeritage technical support was unsuccessful, I tried again and this time connected with an associate, Sharon, who took the time to diagnose and then resolve the problem. This required several e-mail exchanges over a two week period, so if others should find themselves in a similar situation, then patience and persistence are strongly suggested.
MyHeritage is an excellent search engine that facilitates the location of long lost relatives and family members. It provides effective access to billions of records world wide.
On the human side, behind MyHeritage there are a very warm, keen and extremely helpful group of people. I highly recommend MyHeritage.
I joined this site to research more information about my grandfather. Since when I have been bombarded with messages and matches so the tree quickly builds to epic proportions which is totally unmanageable and also its very difficult to read on screen. So I started a new tree and ignored the matches so that I could print out a smaller tree. Couldn't understand how to do it, so emailed the support team and got a speedy response and managed to fix the problem. But it is NOT an easy site for a non-techy person.
I had a problem opening the tree builder after an update but Linoy continued to provide me with advice and guidance and the problem was solved. I found the instructions given to me were clear and easily understood. Linoy was very understanding and a great advert for Myheritage.
I get "matches" but when I try to proceed I am informed that I have to upgrade to Premium in order to confirm. Very disappointed with it.

I have been subscribed to MyHeritage since August 2015. In a short time since then I have been able to amass over 3800 persons in my family tree -- eventually tracing back through direct ancestors to the year 500 AD. This feat is very hard to do, but was well worth the challenges. Not everyone can be that lucky or have such great relatives as I do, but you never know. You may have even more impressive or historically significant relatives. I was lucky enough to trace my direct ancestry back to Charlemagne, Saint Margaret of Ireland, scads of kings and queens, and to every royal variety of kinship. I am kin to Martha Washington, Daniel Boone, "Robert the Bruce" (my direct great uncle), and my direct ancestor, great grandfather King Edward de Bruce of Ireland who is Robert's brother and eventually to kinsmen Emperors of the Holy Roman Empire. Tracing ancestors is somewhat pleasantly addictive but when you find all those relations and see how they fit into history, it makes you feel like you are somebody. It is difficult to ferret out all those relations and it is a day-by-day effort sometimes taking 3 to 4 hours in a spate. Once you find someone significant, you can use Wikipedia and other online sources to find great historical detail and graves and statues of your famous relatives. I have had some trouble with my searches and have had to call on (technical) customer support. Sometimes the updated software has some glitches (as all software does -- remember Microsoft has almost always released their programs with bugs that have to be discovered by customers). Anyway, MyHeritage has been mostly error free and smooth going. When they did have a problem release, they have gotten on it and worked hard to correct it. The customer support personnel are very friendly, professional, and fairly quick to respond to your issues considering the fact that they are the largest genealogy provider. Dean in Customer Support is particularly outstanding and probably the best on their team. He will treat you right if you have a problem. I doubt you will be sorry if you subscribe to MyHeritage. They are great! Travel back in time via your own relatives. Dream a little or a lot. Massive rewards await you.
This company continues to use deceptive practices and does not clearly state it's plans or it's pricing. Until they hit your credit card. A call to their customer support revealed that they are continuing to practice business in a non-ethical manner and that they are fully aware of it. If you sign up for the free trial you will be offered a Premium upgrade to $60, instead of the $119 a year annual fee. Then when you hit the 14-day mark they will charge you again for $119 instead of nullifying the initial trial offer. Do not do business with these thieves.
I have been using MyHeritage for several years and have found it to be a valuable asset as I continue my family history quest. MyHeritage provides "Smart Matches" which allows me to review matches of people that I have added to my family tree with people in other family trees that have been created on MyHeritage.com. Its a great way to connect with others who are researching the same individuals that I am. I also use MyHeritage Family Tree Builder which syncs the information with my MyHeritage online site and visa versa. The site allows for uploading family photos and offers "Record Matches"a long with a vast amount of global historical records that can be researched. MyHeritage offers mobile access so I can work on my tablet or smartphone whenever I want. Their customer support is timely and effective. I recommend MyHeritage to anyone who is involved in genealogy.
Basically you can't find out anything without upgrading to a "Premium" account. The website says MyHeritage is "free," but it's really not...
I have been emailing My Heritage for over 3 weeks now and no one has replied to me. I like the fact they let you print family tree charts yet their search data base does not have my fathers birth or death listed. It is listed on Ancestry.com though. I keep asking My Heritage why their database isn't showing my father and I really want to subscribe but if they refuse to answer this question or even to acknowledge they are looking into it, I may be forced to go with Ancestry.com again. I guess customers just aren't important to My Heritage
I have uploaded several large GEDCOM files to My heritage and the support team has always been very helpful and thorough answering any questions I have had.
If you don't cancel BEFORE the 14 days are up, you will be responsible for the ENTIRE amount. And it's not that easy to cancel online. You have to call them.
Otherwise, it's a great site and much better than Ancestry.com.
I downloaded the most recent issue of MyHeritage, and couldn't sync my files. Sent a request to solve the issue. It took several replies before it was solved. Even though it took more than a week, the technician stayed with me as we went through possibilities. Turns out that this issue of: MyHeritage had some problems and "sync" was one of them. Re-downloading the more recent of the new MyHeritage got everything working. Some times it seems the service is slow, but they keep at it until the problem is resolved.
I would like to see a way that MyHeritage can sync more than 10,000 family files in a more timely fashion. I am pleased with MyHeritage at this point.
I have found that my family is related to the developer of Troy, as well as William the Conqueror and through him all of the subsequent monarchs of Great Britain. There are many Roman Emperors in my file. Too bad I didn't inherit their realms and fortune.:-)
Heel hartelijke dank hiervoor. Goede service.
I started my family tree on MyHeritage several years ago because it's free, and it was easy and very intuitive. I've recently gotten back into researching my family, and the tools and information they provide are just super. I've upgraded my program to the Premier version because I exceeded 200 people on my tree, and it was so worth it! They are continually adding new resources that have been very helpful. I had a problem recently with the upgrade to version 8.0, and they told me how to solve it, which I did with no problem. Also, the variety of reports that can be run are amazing. I love MyHeritage!
I still receive e-mails from My Heritage. I can not re-set my password, nor can I keep paying anyone monthly fees. It has not been easy to communicate with the site.
In fairness, I must add that I had been at Ancestry for two years, so that may have been part of my problem.
We are all different, so don'y let my opinion stop you, if you like them, great! I am STILL getting e-mails with no way to unsubscribe!
Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.
Answer: You can find your site subscriptions via MyHeritage homepage - pull-down menu on the right upper corner button "Settings". Then click on "My purchases", and button "Site subscriptions". Click "View details". The details contain section "Cancel subscription". Maybe you can get advice by mail from MyHeritage support team (support@myheritage.com).
Answer: If you are looking to get as many connections to your tree that you can, use My Heritage. If you want flexibility in who is added to your tree, use Ancestry.
Answer: Dear Jonathan, Yes I have the same problem, I wrote to My Heritage and they have still not responded to my request for assistance. They are highly Sloppy and unprofessional in responding to customer request for assistance. Even though they have and excellent Technical Team. Fortunately I have another Computer with Windows 8 as a result of which I am able to continue working with my Website. But recently a few problems have cropped up with the recent upgrade of the My Heritage Program and have sent in a request for assistance and till today 3-5 months later I have no response. Apparently the company believes that they can play games with the customers. I firmly believe that they have somehow gone into self destructive mode.

Answer: Hi After posting my complaint about MyHeritage on here I got a very quick response from some one called Dave at the company. He told me to send an email to support@myheritage.com and add the subject Dave: sitejabber. He responded a couple of days later - I emailed on a Saturday - and the auto repeat on my subscription was cancelled and my money refunded within days. Hope this helps.
