I've purchased from them 14 times over the past five years, including three times this year. I've never had anything except excellent customer service from them. For instance, a few months back I ordered a guitar, and when it arrived, it had numerous issues. I prompted called them, got through to a rep right away, and told him the issues. He immediately sent me a call tag, so all I had to do was box it back up, put the tag on, and take it to UPS. I received my money back very quickly as well. They're a pleasure to work with. I will continue buying from them.
According to Ben, the supervisor, their return policy is 3 business days from the time they receive the gear for a refund. So far, I have received 2 faulty gears, which I had to return and then sit and wait for days so I might get refunded. Ben, the customer service supervisor, is nasty, rude, and abrupt, making sure to make you as uncomfortable as possible. Extremely bad customer service
I am a college student in desperate need of musical items at a decent price. Musician's Friend sends out coupons and there was a 20% coupon that I had just seen, however it expired only a day ago. I called the main number and the site's wonderful representative Ashley Foard picked up. I explained to her my situation and she kindly and patiently helped get me my discount. I ordered a keyboard and other accessories to go along with it, constantly asking questions to make sure the products and payment were correct. I successfully ordered my products and she offered to call when they arrive to make sure everything was in good condition. I was very fortunate to have spoken with Ashley and I am very happy with my purchase.
I recently purchased a Martin HD28 from Musicians Friend via online dealing with Stephanie Super. She was awesome! The reason I give 4 out of 5 stars is I specifically asked for a brand new, direct from manufacturer Martin Guitar. Stephanie indicated a timeline in which to expect delivery. She was spot on with what was conveyed. What concerned me was I began to receive emails from Guitar Center stating they had located a damaged guitar that they could ship to me outlining the compromised condition of what i was expecting. That was concerning. I reached out to Stephanie and she said not to worry. She was correct and I received my pristine instrument and I'm thrilled with my purchase. The conflicting emails should not have occurred thus my 4 of 5 star review. I have dealt with Musicians Friend for many years and are pretty satisfied with their service. The issues I have had they've been responsive and resolved any issues I had. A lot of reviews are critical but I believe they've resolved all of my issues. The most important aspect to take into account is their pricing is second to none. I will continue to invest my money with Musicians Friend.

No issues with shipping or customer service. The only problem is they didn't set up the awesome Warwick Bass or even check it before shipping. A full set up will fix that but for the price a set up would have been nice.
I felt mixed after seeing the reviews. So I ordered guitar simple guitar stands. Zero problems. Maybe they got better? I am happy.
I have shopped Musicians Friend for quite a long while. My last two guitar purchases have been through them (a Rogue LX205B 5-String Series III Electric Bass Guitar Metallic Blue & a Rogue RA-090 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Black. Yeah, I like me some Rogue Guitars). Both were open-box returns with very few cosmetic issues (i. E. The LX205B had minor scratches at the cord connection and was missing the peal fret marker on the 5th fret. The RA-090 had no discernible issues at all. Both were purchased with significant discounts on some already great but inexpensive guitars.) and played perfectly right out of the box. Out of my entire guitar collection, the Rogue RA-090 is my go-to for acoustic and my Rogue LX205B is second only to my 1979 Peavey T40 (and as a side note, my 1975 Fender Jazz, one f my dearest loves, comes in 3rd. Sorry Leo.).
The biggest issue I've run into is back-orders. I have had two or three that were cancelled that I didn't know about for several months after the cancellation when I checked my order history for updates. Although very annoying, it was nothing I haven't run into with other places. It's a fact of business that you sometimes get caught with a low inventory when an unexpected demand hits. Nothing unusual about it and I did get my merchandise after redoing the order (a Bill Lawrence A245C Acoustic Guitar Sound-hole Pickup Black).
Overall, I love their large selections; their new webpage design is a pain to navigate but I'm getting used to, and I have fewer complaints regarding Musicians Friend than I have on local retailers that I still frequent. Nothing that would make me stop patronizing any of them. I've been happy with every transaction.
***To be fair, one star off for the cancelled back-orders mentioned above. I hope someone finds this novella helpful.
Tip for consumers:
Get familiar with MF's website. The one they are currently using can be confusing and hard to find just what you're looking for but it is there somewhere.

I have used a LOT of Musicians Friend gear from guitar picks & strings, to professional level instruments and recording gear. I have been a musician since roughly 1972. Did all the stuff from live promoting and playing to home and studio mastering.
I became disabled (I think my warranty expired when I hit 55) and, due to not being able to just run around the neighborhood, I rely on my Tascam 6 channel digital mixer/recorder, my Peavey VYPYR VIP 1 amp, and all the free mixing/mastering/processing software I can download. Since Musicians Friend stocks almost all of my favorite bands, they are my go-to when looking for new gear.
I bought Rico plasticover reeds, bg swabs, and some cork grease for my saxophone. 2 Packages arrived, 1 for the body swab, and the other for the cork grease reeds and neck swab. The 2nd package, unfortunately, was damaged at the top of the box but all the items came in perfect condition.
I have had a good relationship with musicians friend. Over the years I have spent over eleven thousand dollars there. Here recently I ordered a Fender aerodyne bass along with other merchandise. Everything was in stock and ready to ship. They shipped out all the other merchandise except for the Fender areodyne bass. I called multiple times trying to find out why it Had not shipped. Finally I got a knowledgeable sales person. Turns out it was at Guitar Center and was an open box guitar. I was upset so I canceled the order. I then called another music store sweetwater and ordered my Fender bass. That was the only time I have ever had trouble with musicians friend but they messed up bad! Hopefully this will not happen again!
Tip for consumers:
Musicians friend has been a wonderful company to do business with. I had this one bad experience. I will continue to do business with them until or if they mess up again.

I cancelled the order for the bass guitar but kept the other merchandise.
This business has all my guitar needs. They have many different brands of guitars. They carry high end guitars but also carry inexpensive guitars for the beginning student. They sell Martin, Taylor, Gibson, Seagul, Epiphone, Fender, Yamaha, and Alvarez.
The business also provides free shipping and many other products. They sell different types of guitar cases, hard or soft cases. I bought from them because I got the best price and free shipping. The have a wide variety of guitar strings. They have fast easy service and do a great job for their customers. The company has always been fair and treated me good. I would recommend to everyone.
Ive always had a good experience with Musicians Friend, they have a great catalog and has been rising in the ranks over the years. The company is highly respected and a good place to start if you are looking for instruments
I was looking to purchase some new guitar strings, a friend recommended the site and i am very satisfied, looks like i will be needing new amp for the sessions will pay the site a visit.
I can endorse what the other reviewers have written, Musicians Friend has been a reliable provider for most of the time. On one occasion, though, I'd ordered an instrument as a birthday present and it didn't turn up at all. When I called, I was told that they didn't have it in stock and had no idea why they'd accepted payment for it and not told me that it was unavailable. I did get a prompt refund, but it still left me with no present to give and naturally I was unhappy about it. That was maybe one transaction out of half a dozen, though, so I can put it down to chance and just knock a star off the rating for it.
Although it's great to be able to save money, I will add that the company is big enough and popular enough to undercut smaller businesses, sometimes quite drastically. And that's a pity. So I'm inclined to say that if you really can afford to pay a bit more - not to be overcharged, just pay a bit more - then you might at least consider supporting a local business that doesn't have the advantage of a mail-order company's buying power.
But if you're just starting out and need to put the gear together for a band, this has to be the first place to look for a good deal. Then in a year or two when the band folds up and you have to sell the gear again, the local business will probably get it anyway. Maybe what goes around comes around.
