Crooked Business
March 25, 2025

I purchased a blank sentry key from Mopar Parts Giant for a RAM SRT10. The key that I ordered had a Ram logo on it. What I was sent was a Jeep key with a Jeep logo on it. I had my concerns that the Jeep key they sent me may not work on my Ram truck, so I emailed the Mopar Parts Giant "product specialist" asking if the Jeep key would work on my Ram truck. The "product specialist" responded and said that the Jeep key that they sent me was a completely different part number and that it "would not work on my Ram". At this point I called their customer support and asked for a return, as they clearly sent me the wrong key. I will also note that this key came in a ziplock bag with a part number handwritten on the bag with a ballpoint pen. This was not in original Mopar packaging. Anyhow, they made me send pictures of the part which was no big deal. Then I get an email saying that they cannot move forward with the return until I send a picture of the USPS shipping box with all the labels. At this point I'm getting a sense that this place is grasping at straws and looking for any reason to not issue a refund. Good thing I saved the box. So, I send them pictures of the box and they issue me a return. Here's the catch, they say they will allow me to return the part but will not pay for the shipping and are going to charge me a 20% restocking fee. I called this place at least five times trying to explain to them that I should not pay for shipping or restocking considering that they sent me the wrong part. They said they will review with their parts specialist. I told them I already contacted the "parts specialist" and they said that the Jeep key would not work on my Ram truck. I even uploaded pictures of the email correspondence between myself and the parts specialist. They refused to issue a pre-paid shipping label and refused to waive the restocking fee. I will never buy anything from this retailer again. This whole thing started with false advertising. Regardless if the Jeep key would work or not I ordered a key with a Ram logo, not a Jeep logo. I jumped through all their hoops for their error and they still managed to take advantage. As the phrase goes you get more flies with honey than you do with sh*t. I'm writing this based on ethics and principles, not due to the useless $60 key that I'm stuck with. To be honest I'm surprised that this place is still in business seeing that there's a bunch of reviews with similar stories as mine. I will now spend the rest of my week looking for places to publish negative reviews about this company, will be going to the better business bureau, and will contacting my credit card company and opening a fraud case. All because they fought me tooth and nail on a $5 shipping charge and bogus restocking fee. They need to treat their customers better and not bite the hand that feeds them, or eventually they will starve to death. From now on I will use Mopar Factory Parts as I had a much more pleasant customer experience with them.

Shipped incorrect parts, then want a 20% restocking fee, customer pays return shipping

I ordered left and right-side rear CV (Constant Velocity) axles for my daughter's 2017 Jeep Compass. The part numbers were *******AB and *******AC respectively. I took those part numbers directly from the existing axles in her Jeep while it was up on a repair shop's lift.

The shop informed me that the axles were not available locally but they would install the axles if I could find them from an online source, so I performed an Internet search which directed me to Mopar Parts Giant.com. Their website, however, claimed that part number *******AB would not work on her Jeep. That part number was now *******AB, which had since been replaced by part number *******AC and so they shipped two axles with part number *******AC which resulted in my receiving two axles, neither of which fit her Jeep. This seemed illogical in the first place since the rear axles in the 2017 Jeep Compass are different lengths. The right side (passenger) is about about 4 inches longer than the left. They didn't have both CV axles in stock, so they backordered one direct from a Chrysler/Jeep warehouse which arrived a week later via UPS air. Mopar Parts Giant Online normally ships by FedEx.

Neither axle would fit so I contacted Mopar Parts Giant to obtain and RMA. They requested multiple sets of photos, with still more requests for photos. They kept asking for photos of the FedEx label for the backordered axle, which was impossible since it came from a warehouse that did not ship using FedEx. After many emails back and forth, they discontinued communications with me, a tactic known as "ghosting". No doubt this strategy is intended to allow time for the RMA to expire.

It's important to note that this seller listed "No longer needs" for the reason for the RMA (right side axle), which is incorrect. They shipped the wrong parts. That forced me to buy cheap aftermarket axles online elsewhere instead of genuine Mopar/Jeep parts because my daughter's Jeep was occupying one of the lifts in the repair bays at Mr. Tire in Pasadena Maryland. In addition, my daughter is a school teacher and classes were beginning, leaving her without a vehicle.

These are screen captures of my order that tell the story, plus correspondence from Moparpartsgiant.com stating that they would accept ONE axle back with a 20% restocking fee. This is ridiculous since they shipped the wrong parts in the first place.

Tip for consumers:

Buyer beware! I have a case against this company and their parent company, Genuine Parts Deals Inc with Paypal. This is a scam site. They are just skimming 20% from people by shipping incorrect parts and then ripping customers on returns.

"address not verfied" then offers me a 5% discount if I use paypal - they only want to use paypal

A great number of these places are drop-ship resellers. So they look around the country for the parts you want and then order it and when they get it, they ship it to you, or they have the part directly shipped. This is fine if you are not in a hurry and its a common available part. However...I would shop on ebay first and make sure someone has a quantity listed. The drop shippers sell on ebay as well, but, ebay holds them to account. I ordered transmission cooling lines for an AWD chrysler 300. I got back a message saying that both my billing/shipping address was not 'on file with my credit card'. I buy stuff with that card all the time. Today I get the message saying use PAYPAL and we'll give you a 5% parts discount. They did have the lowest price on the part. I am sure at this profit margin level they are trying to retain every penny. But that didn't sit well with me. I decided to cancel the order. Their site shows all their good reviews. You go off site and find all the bad reviews. I am building this car so I can wait. You might check with anyone you get parts from to make sure they can put their hand on the part if you need it faster. No business has required this from me before. Instead I paid more from an ebay drop shipper that is located only a few miles from me. If there is a problem I can go over there and talk to them. Here is the message I got. "
Hello from MoparPartsGiant.com,
Thank you for your response,
As per our policy, we need to verify BOTH billing and shipping information with your card issuer unless the order is placed via PayPal.

Unfortunately, we will be unable to continue with this card, as we are unable to validate your details with your card issuer.

In an effort to avoid further delay in processing, we are offering a one-time 5% discount on your order if you accept the "Pay with PayPal" option. You are not required to have a PayPal account to use this option. Please click "Pay with PayPal" and follow the instructions provided in "How it works" below.

After you have clicked on "Pay with PayPal" use the Debit or Credit card option to continue as a guest, please be sure to deselect any default options for "same as billing", if your shipping address is different and continue to provide the correct address where you intend to receive this purchase.
" You can decide if you want to do business with them. They had no problem cancelling my order. If they want to do paypal only, then be honest about it. And figure that if they can't find the part at a price they can live with then at least with a credit card you can dispute the charge, show you never got the part, and then you can go somewhere else. There were just too many red flags for me. Cancelling the order was easy. Ordering the part was easy. I don't know if it would have been ok. But I have gone through BS before I'd rather pay more and know people would be held to account. The last image is a cutdown of the cancellation email. Note, had I paid with paypal the order would have gone through. Also note that the cancellation email does NOT say that I asked to cancel the order. They could be fine but no other business I have ever worked with has said your addresses don't match with your credit card, then offered me 5% discount the next day. I am an ebay vendor and I can assure you ebay will not let someone get away with stuff like this. As an ebay vendor I am held to ebay's strict rules to create a safer market place.

Tip for consumers:

Just go in with your eyes open, understand their business model, and then decide if its the right choice for you.

I went to an ebay drop shipper that I have used in the past. They aren't that fast either, but they are close to my home and have gotten me what I ordered. It is probably too much to think some one other than the dealer network has their hands on all these parts. And for them its probably order from a mopar warehouse. There is one of those warehouses near me and I have bought parts from the dealer and sent to the warehouse with a receipt to pick up the part.
