“WASTE OF TIME!”

ANT A.
1/26/24

AVOID WASTING TIME! Our phone was in excellent condition, valued at a reasonable price, sent off and after receipt valued at much less than quoted value. They will up the offer when you refuse but not by much. You also have to up their £150 postage insurance cover which costs more! Also check what they sell a similar model to yours for, they're CON merchants! AND finally Mazuma no I don't want to send you my order number, wasted too much time already!

Sent them a grade AAA iPhone 13 mini, that had a screen protector and case from day one. Not a blemish on the screen…

Anyway they've docked the price by £255 to £215 due to 3 scratches…

They're no scratches on the phone….but needed the money so had to accept.

This is obviously their business model…

Awful practice.

Sent my Samsung Galaxy S10e to them, in very good condition. It has no scratches as it had a screen protector and hard wallet case from day one. I took several photos of the phone before sending.
They offered £55.
The company have just emailed me saying they've 'tested the phone and it's got Screen Burn' and needs a 'new screen' and the offer has been reduced to £10.
Screen burn shows up as colour ghosting and can be easily seen by the naked eye. It's usually caused by hundreds and thousands of hours of stagnate display. I always had a Screen Timeout on all my phones and there absolutely categorically was no screen burn whatsoever on that phone prior to my sending it.
Obviously I've rejected their offer and if my phone isn't returned to me within 10 days in the same condition I'll be contacting Trading Standards.

They offered a great price £400, then when they received it said it wasnt mint condition due to dust on the camera lens (not true) so offered nearly a third of original price then when I asked for phone back suddenly offered a further £150. As I knew it was a scam I asked they return the phone which was never returned as lost by post office and compensation claim refused. SCAM COMPANY AVOID

Offered me £80 less on receipt of my iphone pro max 13. Claimed there were more than three scratches on the front. My phone was pristine and I have never experienced this with other recyclers i have used. Mazuma make you feel cheated. I then called them and they were very rude. They told me my phone would take 3-5 days to return to me and referred me to their T&Cs! I think that's awful customer service.

In a similar vein to others they offer one price then reassess to a ridiculously low offer, come back with a slightly better one that I still didn't accept and won't send it back with the original box I sent it in!
Probably will use it for one of their grade B iPhone XR's "for as little as" £259.99 (offered me £40).
In my opinion stay well clear of this lot!

Sent my Samsung Galaxy S9 off to them in excellent condition. Had always been in a hard case or it's original box. One careful lady owner. Promised £45 but then offered just £5 claiming screen burn and multiple scratches. Absolute rubbish. Needless to say have rejected their offer and requested the return of my handset. Will submit it to a more reputable company. Just hope it's returned in the same condition it was sent.

The phone is in great condition and packaged well. Some tiny little scratches on the screen but all in great shape. All clean etc. They said it needed a new screen and the casing was chipped. I looked after it so well and and proud to say so. £25 from £250? It cost me £8 to send it to them via recorded delivery! I dont even trust them to send it back to be honest. STAY CLEAR! Not happy. I cant give 0 but would if I could. This is NOT the same Mazuma I have always used. Brand loyalty gets you nowhere.

Do not use and avoid at all costs. Had a quote of £115 for an iPhone XR in excellent condition, practically looked brand new. Sent my phone off, and they came back saying they had reduced the quote to £90 due to 'multiple scratches'. I asked them to send me photos of these apparent 'scratches', and the photos they sent me were quite clearly not my phone. They had sent me photos of someone else's damaged phone! Queried this and they responded very unprofessionally with no answers of course. As they couldn't answer my questions, they then sent a further email saying they were returning the phone back to me. Unsure how they can get away this. Should have looked at the reviews beforehand as looks like this is a regular occurrence of theirs unfortunately. Disloyal and unprofessional company and I most definitely won't be using again and will be making everyone else aware to not use this lying company either. I expect when I receive my phone back, it won't be in the same condition as I originally sent it in. Please listen to the 1 star views. You will find multiple reviews with very similar experiences to mine.

They lie, lie and lie. I sold my brand new mini phone 13 for them. They said going to pay £300 by email and after I sent it they created scratches invent scratches that my phone never had and offer me £105. Unreliable and corrupt people. I'll never deal with these people again!

I sold them an iphone 13 128gb, as soon as I got the phone I had a case and screen cover put on it. Never had any scratches. They came back to me deducting the agreed price by £60 because there were scratches. After receiving photos of it that I asked for there were added scratches to my phone! I wish I had taken photos of my phone before sending it. Do not waste your money on this company! Stay away, you've been warned.

(It couldn't of been damaged during delivery as I had in in the original phone box it came in and was bubble wrapped)

Do not use this company. They will get you to send the phone at an agreed price. Then send ypu a lower offer, which I refused, then send another offer which I refused again. They then kept my phone for two weeks. When I rang they finally sent my phone back after arguing with them. When my phone arrived they sent my phone back without a box.
When I called them they said that they were keeping my box and they were not able to send it back even if I paid for the return because they had rights to keep my box.

Tip for consumers:
The ladies at customer service were awful, just told me that it was my fault and shouldn't have sent it in the box in the first place.

I agreed a sale of £690 for my immaculate one year old iPhone14 Pro Max. After collecting it, I then got an email saying that the offer had been reduced to £0! They claimed it's an aftermarket replica, which it absolutely is not and is verified by Apple as being fully authentic, as purchased from a genuine store.

You are given the option to either reject the offer or, outrageously, accept the new offer of £0. If you accept the offer, the phone is then apparently "destroyed" leaving you with absolutely nothing to show for it. Makes sense really as it's a great way to rob people of their phones and then make money by selling them on, and also a way of scaring people into thinking they are selling some sort of fake phone. I obviously rejected the offer for a return.

They're very quick to arrange collection from your house using some premium pick up service by DPD, but are then slow in returning it, using the cheapest possible method going - I still haven't received mine back yet. Classic.

The whole model is a very dodgy set up, ready to either reduce your offer by a large amount, or in my case, to £0 in the hope of you accepting it and waving goodbye to your phone with nothing to show for it, allowing them to sell it on for 100% profit.

The call centre sounds like it's being handled by a bunch of slovenly infants, with no real grasp on how anything there works. Each person tell you something different and nobody knows what's going on. The customer services email responses are robotic and not even remotely authentic sounding.

I'm lucky enough to be in a position where I wasn't selling this because I am desperate for the money - it's because I've just got the new 15 and thought that keeping the 14 as a spare would be unnecessary. I only hope that people who are selling because they have a genuine need to cash in don't get caught out in this whole thing.

UPDATE: A phone was returned to me, and is the wrong phone. It's damaged, scratched and unusable. The one they have returned is obviously a fake, with no proper operating system or anything working. They have scammed me for the proper iphone and sent an aftermarket replica in return. They'll no doubt be selling on the real one now (mine) that they claimed was a replica before sending me a fake one back.

Mazuma are disgusting and a bunch of con merchants and crooks. How they are allowed to operate like this is a total miracle. It's now obvious that all the 5 star reviews on here are put there by Mazuma themselves.

They are criminals - be warned!

Tip for consumers:
Please do not get caught up in this criminal scam. Avoid Mazuma.

May of fallen for the trick of I had only sent one phone in.
Sent to Samsung phones both just a year old that had been in cases and with screen protectors. First email on phone one reported more than five scratches and ghosting on the screen so would only pay a fraction of the price that had been offered.
Second email exactly the same word for word. And again a fraction of the price.
After two days of not going back to them,I had two more emails from retention department offering £15 extra. Have had the phones returned and as you can imagine NO SCRATCHES AND NO GHOSTING ON SCREEN.
Stay away, other companies may offer a little less but keep to the offered price.
Please be warned.

Absolute waste of time, wish I had read the other reviews before choosing Mazuma to resell my phone. Scam. They clearly don't honour the original prices they quote, claiming damage on the phone that doesn't exist, and I'm obviously not the only person they do this too. On calling to query these mysterious "more than 5 scratches" on the phone, I was told there is no way to appeal their decision. A mistake to pick them when there are so many alternative companies to choose, won't make that mistake again.

Sent my phone to maxima and they said there was a dark spot on the lens and reduced the price from 365 to 100, which I accepted but there was no issues with any of my photographs which I used for business so had to be spot on. My partner sent another phone back today and had exactly the same response! Can't believe that both phones, always protected with covers have exactly the same issue! Definitely not accepting their offer for this phone and will never use Mazuma again

My experience echoes others on here - screen burn cited when there was none detectable and appeal results in yet another not worth it price.

I asked for handset to be returned in case I needed a spare. But they didn't send back my samsung charger or the £40 RRP phone case I had it in. (I was happy to give the lot over for the trade in price quoted before items sent!) Apparently their written policy excludes return of anything but device. Wish I'd given the phone and all accessories to a charity or family member as everything in good working order!

PLEASE DO NOT send your device to Mazuma. I have been using them for years and they WERE a really good company, so PLEASE don't base your decision to sell to them based on your previous experience with them. My son and I both sent our iphones to mazuma last week, 3 days apart. Both devices were in mint condition, not a single scratch or mark back or front. My son and I both got exactly the same message from them saying they had to 'amend' their original quote as there were more than 3 scratches on the screen and we both got exactly the same reduction of £60. Although they give you the option to have the device returned to you, they would have to scratch your screen first otherwise you would have evidence of decietful sales practice, so that is not an option. Once they have your device you're stuck. An apallingly shameful way to run a business.
