You hear a lot about mate1 but not sure its all that unless you live in London or Manchester. I'm in Cork so a bit smaller. Personally ill stick with wejustfit.com.

Not as bad as most people try to make u believe. I personally prefer Mingle2day but just because there are more members in my area. But mate1 is still much better than the average dating site out there which are almost all full of fakers and scammers.

I've realized that there are better options, at least for me. Especially mingle2day and match never disappointed me. Cupid looks good to me too. But mate1 seems completely legit though so no idea where all the negative reviews come from. Some scammers, like on any other dating site too. Just use your common sense and report fake profiles, that's all.

Good but not good enough IMHO. Prefer wejustfit.com. Take it from a guy who has tried at least ten sites this year alone!

mate1.com get three stars (or hearts lol) from me. Not good enough for me to give up my WeJustFit.com subscription but still worth checking out if you havent yet.

Gave this a shot expecting fireworks. I know a few people who have found love on mate1 but it has not happened for me im afraid. I've switched over to wejustfit.com now and that is looking more promising already. I guess it all comes down to the membership levels in the area your in and this just so happens to be better for me. Hope that helps, thanks for reading.

Had a good date in my 2nd or 3rd week but things have dried up a bit since. If I compare with the other site I use (wejustfit.com) I'd have to admit that WJF wins cos ive had more dates and even met someone that I was seeing for a while on that site. Bottom line is both sites are good and if you can afford to join two, you could do worse than those. And if you get a chance with a nice person grab it with both hands. Good luck:-)

I have been on mate1 for just over a month and haven't met any girls yet but Iwas able to chat with several nice people. Beware of scammers though. It seems like you will find plenty of them. Like I said, you can e-meet some nice people but in my opinion other well known dating sites like Mingle2day (if you upgrade your membership to gold it is top notch) or even Badoo (if you use your common sense and invest a lot of time and patience) may be a better option or at least a good alternative. Anyway, it never hurts to use more than one dating site to figure out which one you like the best.

Site seems to be ok but did not really convince me. Unlike on other big sites like Match and Mingle2day they did not have many women in my area. Site still seems to be ok though but I was more lucky using other sites.

Joined Mate1 last month and figured its time to let people know my thoughts.
Advantages Simple to use, higher than average real women on the site (although not quite as many as WeJustFit Id say), average number of fake profiles, easy search function.
Disadvantages Should offer a better deal for longer term subscriptions. There should be a way to get all your messages together once a day rather than your inbox being bombarded with emails every half an hour (seriously, I spend ages deleting them all).
All in all, its 7 or maybe even 8 out of ten for me. Better than average but there are still superior options.

I like mate1 a lot and it's up there with the best dating sites ive tried, isn't quite number 1 (wejustfit takes that accolade) but I do think you can try it and see what you think as a lot depends on the area youre in.

Mate1 could be all junk I agree but cannot say for certain since I never upgraded my membership because I felt something was amiss. After reading the reviews by various others here I am happy for not having fallen prey to this online fraud but that is not the reason for penning down my thoughts. Basically I understand that the internet is full of African scammers trying to make a quick buck from naive unsuspecting guys who are dreaming for a genuine hookup & in their excitement never really take the trouble to verify the credentials of the site or its members. What I understood after scanning through many profile pages across dating sites is that some fake profiles could look incredibly genuine & the person on the other side has no chance in hell to really authenticate the person's identity. So the best way according to me is to request all potential hookups to interact live through skype wherein the chances of cheating or impersonation is considerably lowered since it's a live video conversation so if the person turns up he/she is most probably genuine, if not we all know the truth. Ive found that with mate1 there are a lot of real girls on the site in my locality and a fair amount are up for a chat. But Id probably say go for wejustfit.com, for London anyway. Not sure about other cities as I live in London and that site is the only one that has actually make me happy.

Why is it taking so long to verify my profile picture, i waited more than hours to verify my pictures but it was in vain. I really need to know why it take so long

Is Mate1 a total free Dating site?

The site is good but the admin of site made it selfish, you cant include your email address in a note to another member. Then why are people on it, its easily blocked and photos dont get verified easily.
