“Golf club scam Marketgolfself.com - Golftonic”

Was told about this incredible deal on golf clubs. Set of Callaway Apex 19 irons for $80. My brother-in-laws friend bought these clubs from Marketgolfself.com and received them. They look like great clubs so I bought a set, my brother-in-law bought two sets, and my nephew bought a set. We used PayPal to pay for them figuring that if it WAS a scam we are protected. After a week, we requested shipping info and were sent tracking numbers. All four tracking numbers said that the package was delivered, however none of us had gotten a package. We contacted USPS with the tracking numbers and asked if the packages were delivered to our addresses. For all four, we were told that their tracking info showed that the package (a 3 oz envelope) was delivered to our towns, but to different addresses. We contacted Paypal and submitted claims. The claims were denied because the seller was able to provide valid tracking numbers that said packages were delivered. I contacted Paypal again and asked them to call the USPS with the tracking numbers like I did and ask the post office if the packages were delivered to our addresses. For all four tracking numbers Paypal got the same info that we did, 3-4 oz envelopes delivered to different addresses. They approved our claims and we got refunds. We got lucky but I would imagine that a lot of people will never see their clubs or refunds. Here is how we think they get started: 1. Post an ad on a golf forum about the great deals. 2. Send out clubs (probably knockoffs) to the first 10 or so buyers so they pass the word around and get other golfers to bite. 3. After other golfers start buying the "clubs", they send empty envelopes out to any address in the town of the buyer so they have a valid tracking number to provide to PayPal when a claim is made. When a claim is made and they give the tracking number to PayPal, PayPal denies the claim because it shows the package was delivered. 4. After some time they clean out the balance of the PayPal account and start over with a new website and PayPal account. We have found this same website at Marketgolfself.com and Lucysilk.com so far. They also seem to go by Golftonic.
