Let's start off with the staff. Just like others, I have had my account banned without any clear reasoning. I had moved all of my stuff from one account to the other because my original account did not update my information. If I remember correctly, I was trying to use a feature on the site that was 13+, but it wouldn't let me despite me being 13, at this time. I tried to alert the staff as to what I was doing, but I was running into some issues. I ended up sending them an email trying to explain to them the situation, but they threw a fit as though I wasn't even trying. I returned to this new account many years later, and like I said, it was banned.
There is also the issue of racial stereotypes of black people and Native culture being used as "costumes". Some examples are the Chinese costumes, Native costumes, and sports costumes. Then there are the costumes that relate to eating disorders, obesity, mental illness, homelessness, and religion. There are costumes that feature black stereotypes, such as them being "ugly", muscular, and/or "criminals". This is a reminder that religion, culture, and stereotypes should never be treated like costumes. This is also a kids' site, mind you.
There are frankly gross references to beauty-standards, and there are some pretty inappropriate outfits that children this young should not be exposed to. The mocking of overweight people also disgusts me, since it treats overweight people like they are all lazy and don't even try to be healthier. The Fat Fairy is an example of this. The site mocks her for being overweight due to issues that are implied to be out of her own control. The treatment of homelessness is also an issue, here, since homeless characters are also treated as though they're lazy, disgusting criminals who aren't to be trusted.

I could go on and on about how horrible this site is. Sure, the mechanics and art may seem interesting, but this is not a good site for children. Personally, I think it was a waste of potential. The ideas behind the fantastical world-building and creatures could have made it one of the best pet-sites. Unfortunately, it was left in the hands of people who lack moderation-skills and seem to have some pretty misinformed views.
If you want a better pet-site to use, just go play Webkinz. It's far from perfect, and the newest version has really creepy-looking animation imo, but it's honestly better than this.

After quite a few years I came across some old stuff that reminded me of the 'wonderful' website that is Marapets. Back quite a few years ago my family, my friends and I would LOVE to get online and play. Often sending eachother things or making fun trades where we'd send one thing and we'd get something in return IRL like artwork of our pets and other fun stuff!

Fast forward to today. Now, im having some fun and I want to get to playing. I find my old login and password and I get ready to go and low and behold I am signed in and right infront of me are the pets i spent all my time on getting to look pretty and wonderful! Excitedly, i click the next tab and BAM! I get the Banned notice. Now, I am pretty shocked. So obviously i take the advice from the page and send their support a message asking (very politely I might add) WHY i was blocked.

Of course, it's the dreaded 'you're using multiple accounts for one accounts gain'. Cool, I think, I have absolute SOLID proof that it wasn't all me playing it. Hell I even made a status about my excitement to where one of my friends commented about how they remembered us always playing and how I got them so addicted to the site. I remember a lot of the stuff we did and had plenty of proof that they were incorrect. I mean, we all had to share an IP back in the day. It's not like we had laptops as easily as we do now where we could all just use our own laptops and change IPS like it was nothing.

Turns out, I get rudely told they don't want to see pictures of proof. They want no defense from me at all. They refuse to believe THEY made an error and now I can't get to relive the fun days of marapets, the rip-off neopets lab ray that would turn my pet into god knows what (let's be real, it was 100% a ripoff of the Neopets Secret Lab there's no denying it) or putting cute costumes on my pets to make them the grail and gorgeous pets I had wanted.

The customer service is disgusting. Getting nothing but rude comments in return and them blatantly just saying to 'Make a new account'. That's not how it works.

Marapets needs to work on it's customer service if it wants to survive. As i type this less than 450 people are online. It's a dying site that is turning away potential users instead of actually helping. I hope they work on it all soon to bring it back, otherwise they'll continue to get poor reviews such as this.
